Spatial indexing for massively update intensive applications

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Supporting high update throughput is important to provide real-time location information for many applications, which involve moving objects, such as security, military, and environmental monitoring. We present an R-tree-based index structure with a family of update strategies for supporting high update throughput. It groups updates in the update buffer, and bulk-applies them into the R-tree. Extensive empirical studies have shown that it outperforms existing techniques by 2–5 times. In our experimental environment, moreover, it is able to provide the real-time update capability, while its competitors fail to do so.</P>

The art psychotherapy expert system is a computer system which helps to analyse one's psychology through pictures. However we need a standard criterion because the psychology, the targetof the artps ychotherapy, does notonly have a ambiguous criterion butalso a vast range. We're going to suggest a criterion in the field of the art psychotherapy by constructing systematic database through knowledge acquirement of the art psychotherapy expert system. In this study we introduce a system which enables systematic classification and confirmation of symptoms according to mental analyses. The suggested system enables confirmation of a classical structure and systematic classification of knowledges through conversation by extracting nouns through sentence analysis from the knowledge of descriptive form based on the clinical purpose of sentence analysis.
S-607 Gastric and cardiac metastases from Merkel cell carcinoma

Background: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare and aggressive skin cancer with features of neuroendocrine tumor. The lymph node basin is the most common site of metastasis, followed by distant skin, lung, central nervous system, and bone. Its metastases to heart or stomach have been rarely reported respectively in literature worldwide. To our best knowledge, a case of concurrent gastric and cardiac metastases from MCC has not been reported worldwide. We experienced a case of an 82-year-old male patient with gastric and cardiac metastases from MCC of the buttock skin. Case Report: An 82-year-old man presented with nausea and vomiting for one month. His past medical history included MCC of the buttock skin (pT2NxM0), and three years earlier he had received mass excision surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed diffuse hyperemic edematous lesion in stomach body with features suggestive of advanced gastric cancer. Biopsy and immunohistochemistry of the lesion showed pan CK (+), CK20 (+), TTF-1(-) which were similar with the previous pathologic results of MCC on the buttock lesion. Enhance chest CT was performed and we found a mass suggestive of metastasis involving interatrial septum and left atrial inferior wall. Fluoroscopy and ultrasound guided biopsy of the cardiac mass was performed and immunohistochemistry showed CK20 (+) and synaptophysin (+) in atypical cells which was suggestive of metastatic MCC. PET-CT confirmed malignancy in the body of stomach and left atrium wall of the heart with lymph nodes metastases in the subcarina and left paratracheal regions. He was finally diagnosed of relapsed MCC in stomach, heart and multiple mediastinal lymph nodes. Palliative anti-cancer therapy including immunotherapy was considered but not performed due to his poor performance status and poor economic status. He died of disease progression during palliative care. Conclusion: MCC is a rare and highly aggressive primary cutaneous malignancy, and its disease-specific mortality is also higher. Moreover its incidence is increasing recently and MCC predominates in elderly. We report the first case of elderly patients with relapsed MCC having metastases to stomach and heart.

IT산업이 발전함에 따라 Bluetooth, ZigBee, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)와 같은 근거리 무선통신 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있다. 그 중 NFC(Near Field Communication)의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, NFC 태그와 함께 사용할 경우 활용성은 더욱 증대된다. 이와 관련하여 현재 다양한 NFC 태그관련 애플리케이션이 존재한다. 하지만 기존의 NFC 태그 애플리케이션은 단일 기능을 중심으로 제공하고, 여러 가지 기능을 이용하기 위해서는 여러 개의 NFC 태그가 필요하다는 단점이 있다. 이 점을 개선하고자 본 논문에서는 단일 NFC 태그로 다양한 기능을 제공하는 애플리케이션을 구현한다. 기능들로는 Text입력과 에어플레인 모드, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 무음모드, 알람, 알람설정, 사용자 지정 애플리케이션 선택 및 활성이 있다. 이러한 기능들은 사용자의 상황에 맞게 태그에 입력 시킬 수 있으며, 결과적으로 기존의 단일 기능을 제공하는 애플리케이션보다 개선됨 점을 나타낸다.
Adversarial Domain Adaptation for Noisy Speech Emotion Recognition

Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) has achieved many great results with deep learning techniques. However, noise discrepancy is still a challenging task due to the distribution shift between training and test data. In this paper, we present a novel approach based on unsupervised domain adaptation method to alleviate the distribution shift problem for noisy SER. Specifically, we apply an adversarial domain adaptation with bridge mechanism to model an intermediate domain for knowledge transfer. We construct a bridge layer by exploiting speech denoising approach to extract the domain-specific noise representation. Experimental results show that our method provides average improvements of 2.29% and 3.88% in weighted and unweighted accuracies over the baseline for SER with various noise settings.
