Occurrence of Edwardsiana rosae (Homoptera: Cicadellidae) in landscape tree

From 2017 to 2018, the occurrence of leafhopper species in eight landscape trees (Acer palmatum, Elaeagnus umbellata, Lagerstroemia indica, Pinus densiflora, Prunus serrulata, Pseudocydonia sinensis, Rosa hybrid, Zelkova serrata) in Sangju, Gyeongbuk Province was investigated using flat traps from the leaf open season to the fallen season. E. rosae was the most abundant, and the highest density was observed in cherry trees. E. rosae outbreaks occurred at the end of March, early August, and early October, and are estimated to occur three generations a year. High attraction was observed in yellow plate traps than in blue. From the middle of October, the number of E. rosae increases only in Pinus densiflora among 8 species of trees, and it is estimated that pine trees are wintering places.
Discovery of β-Arrestin Biased Ligands of 5-HT<sub>7</sub>R

<P>Though many studies have been published about therapeutic potentials of selective 5-HT<SUB>7</SUB>R ligands, there have been few biased ligands of 5-HT<SUB>7</SUB>R. The development of potent and selective biased ligands of 5-HT<SUB>7</SUB>R would be of great help in understanding the relationship between pharmacological effects and G protein/β-arrestin signaling pathways of 5-HT<SUB>7</SUB>R. In order to identify 5-HT<SUB>7</SUB>R ligands with biased agonism, we designed and synthesized a series of tetrahydroazepine derivatives <B>1</B> and <B>2</B> with arylpyrazolo moiety or arylisoxazolo moiety. Through several biological evaluations such as binding affinity, selectivity profile, and functions in G protein and β-arrestin signaling pathways, 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydropyrazolo[3,4-<I>d</I>]azepine <B>1g</B> was discovered as the β-arrestin biased ligand of 5-HT<SUB>7</SUB>R. In an electroencephalogram (EEG) test, <B>1g</B> increased total non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep time and decreased total rapid eye movement (REM) sleep time.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Investigation of Autoignition of Propane and n-Butane Blends Using a Rapid Compression Machine

The effects of pressure and temperature on the autoignition of propane and n-butane blends were investigated using a rapid compression machine (RCM), which is widely used to examine the autoignition characteristics. The RCM was designed to be capable of varying the compression ratio between 5 and 20 and minimize the vortex formation on the cylinder wall using a wedge-shaped crevice. The initial temperature and pressure of the compressed gas were varied in range of 720~900 K. and 1.6~1.8 MPa, respectively, by adjusting the ratio of the specific heat of the mixture by altering the ratio of the non-reactive components (N₂, Ar) under a constant effective equivalence ratio (φ_f=1.O). The gas temperature after the compression stroke could be obtained from the measured time-pressure record. The results showed a two-stage ignition delay and a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) behavior which were the unique characteristic of the alkane series fuels. As the propane concentration in the blend were increased from 20 % and 40 % propane, the autoignition delay time increased by approximately 41 % and 55 % at 750 K. Numerical reduced kinetic modeling was performed using the Shell model, which introduced some important chemical ideas, represented by the generic species. Several rate coefficients were calibrated based on the experimental results to establish an autoignition model of the propane and n-butane blends. These coefficients can be used to predict the autoignition characteristics in LPG fueled SI engines.<br/>
초등학교 복식학급 과학 수업을 진행하는 교사들의 경험: 현상학적 접근 방법을 중심으로

이 연구의 목적은 현상학적 연구 방법을 통하여 초등학교 복식학급 과학 수업을 진행한 교사들의 경험에 대하여 이야기를 듣고 교사들의 어려움과 교육적 성찰의 의미를 심층적으로 탐색하고 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 4명의 초등학교 복식학급 담당 교사에게 Seidman 이 제시한 3단계 면담법을 사용한 질문지를 제공하였고, 인터뷰 후 진술을 녹음, 전사 하였으며 이 중 유사한 패턴을 보이는 주제를 선정하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 초등학교 복식학급 교사들은 과학 수업을 진행하면서 몇 가지 어려움을 겪는 것으로 나타났다. 교육과정을 재구성 할 때 어려움을 겪었으며, 학생들 수준에 맞는 개별화 교육에 부담을 느끼기도 하였다. 그리고 수업 시간 및 수업 준비 시간이 부족하다고 느끼고 있고, 과학과 교육에서 중요한 역할을 하는 수업 자료를 개발 또는 제작하는데 어려움을 겪었다. 또 과학과 수행평가 부분과 위험한 실험이 진행될 때 안전 문제를 어려움으로 꼽았다. 둘째, 초등학교 복식학급 교사들은 과학 수업을 하면서 다양한 교육적 성찰을 이끌어 내었다. 높아진 자기 효능감을 발견하였으며, 탐구 학습 중심의 교육으로 교사와 학생 간 상호작용 정도도 일반 학급에 비하여 활발한 모습을 찾을 수 있다고 하였다. 하지만 교사들은 복식학급 수업 지원의 부족을 아쉬운 점으로 생각하고 있었다. 이 연구를 통하여 초등학교 복식학급 교사들은 과학 수업을 진행하면서 일반학급과 다른 많은 경험을 하고 어려움을 겪기도 하지만 다른 교사들이 느낄 수 없는 큰 성취감과 교사로의 자신감을 인지하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. The purpose of this study was to explore the elementary school teachers’s experiences of teaching science in multiple classes and to understand the meaning of educational reflection and their difficulties in depth through phenomenological methods. The four elementary school teachers teaching multiple classes were interviewed according to Seidman’s 3-step interview questionnaires, the interviews were recorded and transcribed, and lastly topics were selected and analysed for similar patterns. The results were as follows. First, the teachers showed some difficulties in teaching science. They had difficulties in reconstructing the curriculum and felt some pressure in individualized education that matches each student’s level. Also they had some troubles due to insufficient class hours and class preparation time as well as in making teaching materials that play an important part in both science and education. In addition, they pointed out safety issues as difficulties when conducting performance evaluations and dangerous experiments. Second, the teachers led various educational reflections while teaching science in multiple classes. They responded that they found higher self-efficacy and more active teacher-student interaction than the general classes through inquiry learning-centered education. However, they pointed out the lack of support for multiple classes as unsatisfactory. Through the results, it was found that even though the teachers were teaching multiple classes had difficulties and different experiences than other general teachers while teaching science, they experienced a big sense of accomplishment and confidence as teachers that the general class teachers could not ever feel.

Reduced chemical kinetics model has been derived, which can be applicable for ignition model of hydrocarbon fuels, and contains 23 reactions and 18 species. The present model is validated with the experimental data, where the ignition delays of several hydrocarbon fuels, such as n-heptane, i-octane, n-decane and DME(dimethylether), are measured as equivalence ratios are varied. Especially, the effects of different fuels on ignition delays can be explained by changing the rate constants of three reactions among the present model. As a result, the proposed model can be applicable to two stage ignition model of Diesel combustion
