The Emotional Dimensions of North Korean Politics through the Lens of Historical Institutionalism

This study explores the following research question to address issues linked to emotions, identity, and institutions: how has the cult (institution) of the three Kims affected North Koreans' strong sense of nationalism (emotion), which is based on their Juche ideology (identity)? This paper investigates four fundamental elements of historical institutionalism: time boundedness, path dependency, institutional changes, and the shadow of the past. First, time boundedness illustrates how culture and education have been used to build trust and loyalty in the general public to construct individual and family cults. Second, path dependence reveals how the Songbun system has resulted in strong nationalism throughout Rodongdang's institutionalization. Third, institutional changes highlight the significance of age divides, as different age groups do not always support the three Kims' cult. Finally, the shadow of the past helps us understand the primary processes for generating mass ardent nationalism in the form of powerful impulses for self-sacrifice.

A combat wheeled vehicles are designed to operate under harsh conditions and fatigue life prediction of military vehicles is an important issue in the defense industry. The fatigue analysis is performed by transforming the dynamic loads occurred while a wheeled combat vehicle runs on the test road into an equivalent durability load profile. The fatigue life of a wheeled combat vehicle is analysed by using commercial code FAMFAT which can consider into the effects of fatigue notch on weld efficiently and validated by those of fatigue test in test bench. This study can be used to improve the durability performance of family series on wheeled combat vehicle effectively in the near future.
급성 골수성 백혈병 환자에서 발생한 Oseltamivir 내성 대유행 인플루엔자(H1N1 2009) 1예

Oseltamivir is the drug of choice for patients with pandemic influenza (H1N1 2009). However, sporadic cases of oseltamivir resistance have been described worldwide. Up to March 2010, a total of 11 strains (2.2% of tested isolates) of oseltamivirresistant pandemic influenza (H1N1 2009) have been discovered in South Korea. We report a case of 46-year-old man with acute myeloid leukemia in whom an oseltamivir-resistant pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus was isolated. Despite high dose oseltamivir therapy for 10 days he had persistent symptoms and showed positive results in repeated real-time RT-PCR for pandemic influenza (H1N1 2009) virus from nasopharyngeal specimen. The patient improved eventually after oseltamivir was replaced by zanamivir inhalation.

Given the lack of empirical research on the links between public diplomacy (PD) and sporting events, this study aimed to conceptualize, as an analytical framework, a model of National Role Conceptions (NRC) for Sport Public Diplomacy (Sport PD) in network governance. Considering the PyeongChang Winter Olympics as a case study, this paper reveals four distinct articulations of Sport PD: (1) convertibility of soft power sources to governmental behavior; (2) a cohesive national identity with cultural prestige and national appeal; (3) mechanisms of global sport governance; (4) national roles, not necessarily confined to national identity, undertaken according to diplomatic purposes, as shown in the specific case of South Korea. These purposes included Motivator for global peace, Signifier of pan-Koreanism, and Rule-Changer of geopolitical power structure, according to their respective points in time (before, during, and after the Olympics). In addition, this paper reveals the limitations of Sport PD and concludes with some recommendations on inter-Korean relations.

Objective: Ergonomic constraints of surgeons have been a pivotal issue in minimally invasive surgery. The repetitive motion injuries can occur when surgeons are improperly positioned or uncomfortable while performing surgery. We sought to compare surgical outcomes between ergonomic-friendly total laparoscopic hysterectomy (EF-TLH) that aims to ease the physical workload of laparoscopists and conventional abdominal hysterectomy (TAH). Methods: A retrospective review of 1970 patients who underwent ergonomic-friendly total laparoscopic hysterectomy (n=909) or conventional abdominal hysterectomy (n=1061) between July 2013 to February 2019 was done. The ergonomically friendly setting of laparoscopic surgery begins with adjustment of operator seating position with minimal musculoskeletal pressure and flexibility of port site locations that are suitable for each operation. Results: Both groups shared similar patients’ characteristics including age, BMI, parity, pre-operative hemoglobin and previous abdominal surgery. EF-TLH group showed shorter operating time (P<0.001), less estimated blood loss (P<0.001), less post-operative hemoglobin drop (P=0.009), and fewer cases of transfusion during the operation (P<0.001). In the TAH group, the weight of the uterus was heavier, which is assumed to inevitably have more open cases as the uterus is larger. Conclusion: EF-TLH can be practical substitution for TAH with less operating time and blood loss when a hysterectomy is considered to be done laparoscopically while supporting optimal position of laparoscopists during surgery.

Objective: To demonstrate ergonomic-friendly surgical approach that aims to ease the physical workload of laparoscopists for total laparoscopic hysterectomy and compare surgical outcomes between ergonomic-friendly total laparoscopic hysterectomy (EF-TLH) and conventional total laparoscopic hysterectomy for preinvasive uterine disease. Methods: As the field of minimally invasive surgery grows, laparoscopists are exposed to risk of developing musculoskeletal disease due to increase in physical workload. The repetitive motion injuries occur when surgeons remain static position or improperly positioned while performing surgery. We sought to minimize physical burden to laparoscopists while performing total laparoscopic hysterectomy which is one of the most common gynecological surgery. Also, a retrospective review of 277 patients with pre-invasive uterine disease who underwent ergonomic-friendly total laparoscopic hysterectomy (n=150) or conventional total laparoscopic hysterectomy (n=81) between July 2013 to May 2019 (Table 1) was done. Preinvasive uterine disease included all stages of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia as well as pathologically-proven carcinoma in situ and patients with underlying benign uterine condition such as uterine myoma or adenomyosis were excluded. Results: In terms of surgical outcome of two groups, operating time was significantly shorter in EF-TLH group and estimated blood loss was much less in EF-TLH group. Post-op hemoglobin drop and transfusion during operation showed no significant difference between two groups. Conclusion: EF-TLH is efficient substitution for conventional TLH under similar circumstances with less operating time and blood loss when a hysterectomy is considered to be done while supporting optimal position of laparoscopists during surgery.
고성능 컴퓨팅 시스템에서의 RocksDB 병렬성 증대를 위한 최적의 자원 할당 기법

고성능 컴퓨팅 시스템은 높아진 컴퓨팅 파워와 고성능 저장장장치의 출현으로 점점 널리 사용되고 있는 추세이다. 고성능 컴퓨팅 시스템에서 동작하는 응용의 성능은 시스템의 가용 자원을 어떻게 할당하여 사용하느냐에 따라 좌우된다. 대표적인 소셜 네트워크 서비스 운영 기업인 페이스북에서는 자사의 데이터 저장 및 관리를 위해 고성능 저장장치에 최적화 된 RocksDB라는 키-밸류 스토어를 사용하고 있다. RocksDB에서는 관리자가 시스템의 가용한 자원을 최적으로 할당할 수 있도록 다양한 설정을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 고성능 컴퓨팅 시스템의 가용 자원을 할당하는 방법이 RocksDB의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 이를 기반으로 RocksDB의 병렬성을 높여 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 최적의 자원 할당 기법을 제안한다. High-performance computing systems are becoming more widely used because of the increased computing power and the emergence of high-performance storage devices. The performance of applications operating on the high-performance computing systems depends on how the systems’ available resources are allocated and applied. Facebook, a leading social network service company, uses a key-value store called RocksDB, optimized for high-performance storage devices for data storage and management. RocksDB provides a variety of configurations that allow administrators to optimally allocate available resources on their systems. In this paper, we analyzed the impact of the allocation methods of available resources of the high-performance computing systems on the performance of RocksDB. Based on this, we propose an optimal resource allocation technique that can improve the performance by increasing the parallelism of RocksDB.
