MUC16 facilitates cervical cancer progression via JAK2/STAT3 phosphorylation‑mediated cyclooxygenase‑2 expression

        Hui Shen,Meng Guo,Lu Wang,Xinyue Cui 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.2

Objectives MUC16 (mucin 16, also known as CA-125, cancer antigen 125, carcinoma antigen 125, or carbohydrate antigen 125) has been predicted as tumor biomarker for therapy. We determined to investigate effects and regulatory mechanism of MUC16 on cervical tumorigenesis. Methods Expression levels of MUC16 in cervical cancer cell lines was analyzed via qRT-PCR (quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction). Knockdown of MUC16 was conducted via shRNA (Short hairpin RNA) transfection. MTT and colony formation assays were used to investigate effect of MUC16 on cell proliferation. Wound healing assay was utilized to detect migration and transwell assay to detect invasion. The underlying mechanism was demonstrated via western blot analysis. Results MUC16 was elevated in cervical cancer cell lines. MUC16 knockdown inhibited cell proliferation, invasion and migration. Gain- and loss-of functional assays revealed that over-expression of MUC16 activated Janus Kinase 2 (JAK2)/ signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) via phosphorylation, thus facilitating cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression, while knockdown of MUC16 demonstrated the reverse effect on JAK2/STAT3 activation and COX-2 expression. Moreover, inhibition of JAK2/STAT3 attenuated the regulation of MUC16 on COX-2. Conclusions MUC16 enhanced proliferation and invasion of cervical cancer cells via JAK2/STAT3 phosphorylation-mediated cyclooxygenase-2 expression, suggesting the potential therapeutic target ability of MUC16 to treat cervical cancer.

      • 中國滿 : 通古斯民族的節日供俗

孟慧英 한양대학교 민족학연구소 2002 民族과文化 Vol.11 No.-

      • Effects of Financial Development and Two-Way FDI on Industrial structure : Influencing Factors and empirical test of Industrial restructuring of Shandong

        Meng, Xiu-hui 동중앙아시아경상학회 2015 한몽경상학회 학술대회 Vol.2015 No.10

In recent years, upgrading of industrial structure receives much concern in China. The paper analyses the influence mechanism of financial development and two-way FDI on industrial restructuring at first and then gives an empirical study using Cointegration Test, Vector Error Correction Model (VEC Model) and Impulse Response on rationalization and advancement of industrial structure, using data of Shandong province from 1991 to 2014. The results show that there are long-term equilibrium relationships between the variables and the rationalization and advancement of industrial structure. VEC Model shows that, in the short term, the effect of the factors on the upgrading of industrial structure in Shandong province is not significant. The impulse response analysis shows that the variables have negative impact on the industrial structure rationalization and positive impact on the industrial structure advancement.

Rice Husk as a Food Carrier Forselective Enrichment of Tea Catechins

        Meng Shi,Long-Yue Huang,Rong-Rong Han,Qiao Lin, Jian-Hui Ye,Yue-Rong Liang,Jian-Hui Ye 한국차학회 2015 한국차학회지 Vol.- No.S

The potentials of rice husk, oat bran and soya milk cake as food carriers for tea catechins(TC) were studied. Adsorption properties, contact time and temperature effects and the concentration of tea catechins, as well as digestive stability were investigated in this paper. The result showed that the adsorption capacity of rice husk for tea catechins was 32.04 mgg-1 which was 28.1 % and 17.7 % higher than those of oat bran and soya milk cake and no obvious adsorbability to caffeine was observed for these materials. The selectivity coefficient K of EGCg to TC for rice husk was 4.44 in comparison with 1.87 and 1.96 of oat husk and soya milk cake. This guarantees rice husk a selective food carrier to tea catechins with enrichment of EGCg. Also, 20 min contact time and tea extract concentration above 1.75 g L-1 are recommended in order to obtain a high loading amount of tea catechins onto rice husk, and low temperature is favorable for the adsorption processof tea catechins onto rice husk. Digestive study showed that combination of tea catechins with rice husk was propitious to increase the digestive stability of tea catechins in simulated gastrointestinal fluids. Thus, rice husk is a promising food carrier for tea catechins. Further studies would be focusing on the identification and separation of the functional constituent of rice husk and its interaction mechanism with tea catechins.

BiOCl/SnS2 Core-Shell Photocatalyst for the Degradation of Organic Pollutants

        Hui Meng,Tingting Wang,Hongbin Chen,Yizhu Liu,Xiang Yu,Yi Zhu,Yuanming Zhang 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.8

BiOCl/SnS2 core-shell heterojunction is prepared by a facile and economic hydrothermal method. The obtained BiOCl/SnS2 heterojunction displays high photocatalytic activity in the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). The high performance is explained by the fast separation of the photoinduced electron–hole pairs promoted by the heterojunction. The cycle life of the heterojunction is also improved compared with individual BiOCl or SnS2.

      • An Analytic Performance Estimation Framework for Multibit Biometric Discretization Based on Equal-Probable Quantization and Linearly Separable Subcode Encoding

        Meng-Hui Lim,Teoh, A. B. J. IEEE 2012 IEEE transactions on information forensics and sec Vol.7 No.4

<P>Biometric discretization derives a binary string for each user based on an ordered set of real-valued biometric features. The false acceptance rate (FAR) and the false rejection rate (FRR) of a binary biometric-based system significantly relies on a Hamming distance threshold which decides whether the errors in the query bit string will be rectified with reference to the template bit string. Kelkboom have recently modeled a basic framework to estimate the FAR and the FRR of one-bit biometric discretization. However, as the demand of a bit string with higher entropy (informative length) rises, single-bit discretization is getting less useful today due to its incapability of producing bit string that is longer than the total feature dimensions being extracted, thus causing Kelkboom's model to be of restricted use. In this paper, we extend the analytical framework to multibit discretization for estimating the performance and the decision threshold for achieving a specified FAR/FRR based on equal-probable quantization and linearly separable subcode encoding. Promising estimation results on a synthetic data set with independent feature components and Gaussian measurements vindicate the analytical expressions of our framework. However, for experiments on two popular face data sets, deviation in estimation results were obtained mainly due to the mismatch of independency assumption of our framework. We hence fit the analytical probability mass functions (pmfs) to the experimental pmfs through estimating the mean and the variance parameters from the difference between the corresponding analytical and experimental curves to alleviate such estimation inaccuracies on these data sets.</P>

Discriminative and Non-User Specific Binary Biometric Representation via Linearly-Separable SubCode Encoding-based Discretization

( Meng-hui Lim ),( Andrew Beng Jin Teoh ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2011 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.5 No.2

Biometric discretization is a process of transforming continuous biometric features of an identity into a binary bit string. This paper mainly focuses on improving the global discretization method - a discretization method that does not base on information specific to each user in bitstring extraction, which appears to be important in applications that prioritize strong security provision and strong privacy protection. In particular, we demonstrate how the actual performance of a global discretization could further be improved by embedding a global discriminative feature selection method and a Linearly Separable Subcode-based encoding technique. In addition, we examine a number of discriminative feature selection measures that can reliably be used for such discretization. Lastly, encouraging empirical results vindicate the feasibility of our approach.
