        Distribution of Factors Affecting Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN Countries

        Purpose: Research on attracting foreign direct investment plays an important role in ASEAN countries. ASEAN has needed FDI capital for development and integration with many developing countries. Research design, data and methodology: This study is conducted to assess the impact of factors: inflation (INF), economic growth (GDP), population (POP), and trade (TRADE) on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) of ASEAN countries. The study will find out how factors distribution contributes to FDI attraction. The study collects data from 10 ASEAN countries from 2010 to 2020. With data collected for ten countries from 2010 to 2020, data analysis with panel data will be used in this study. The Regression with Driscoll-Kraay standard errors correction model will be used in the study. Results: Panel data analysis shows that economic growth and population positively impact FDI attraction in ASEAN countries. However, two factors: INF and TRADE, do not affect FDI. Conclusions: Countries need to focus on economic development, create many good conditions for people and domestic enterprises and create opportunities for foreign investors to pay more attention. improving the quality of domestic human resources will help to better improve the working quality factor when the demand for high-quality human resources increases.

        Large Magnetocaloric Effect above 300 K and Magnetoresistance in (La0.5Pr0.5)1-xPbxMnO3 Perovskites

        Perovskite compounds (La0.5Pr0.5)₁- xPbxMnO₃ (x = 0.1 - 0.5) with orthorhombic structure were prepared by using a solid-state reaction technique. In the studied samples, the spin-glass-like state occurs at low temperatures and the Curie temperature, Tc, increases from 170 K (x = 0.1) to 336 K (x = 0.5) because of a strong double exchange. The magnetic entropy change, │△Sm│, reached its largest value of 2.06 J/kg·K at △H = 13.5 kOe for the sample with x = 0.4 (Tc = 323 K). Due to the large │△Sm│ and high Tc, these materials are suggested for use as active magnetic refrigerants for magnetic refrigeration technology at temperatures above room temperature. While the conductivity of the samples with x = 0.1 and 0.2 exhibits only a semiconducting behavior over the whole measured temperature range, there is insulator-metallic phase transition on the R(T) curves of the samples with x = 0.3 - 0.5. The magnetoresistance of the samples was measured and large values for MR were found.         Evaluation of Auditors' Professional Skills in Local Auditing Firms in Hanoi

        In recent years, the quality of auditing human resources in domestic auditing firms in Hanoi has certain limitations in which professional skills of auditors have not been given adequate attention. The number of customers at local auditing firms is forecast to increase gradually. Therefore, the quantity and quality of auditors need to be improved to meet requirements of the workload. Data for this research were collected through surveying 120 customers of domestic auditing firms in Hanoi on the 5-point Likert scale. Based on the collected data, we employ both qualitative and quantitative methodology along with some tools such as descriptive statistics, Cronbach's Alpha, T-test and ANOVA to analysis, evaluate and measure the professional skills of auditors in local auditing firms in Hanoi. The results show that the professional skills of auditors in auditing firms include 17 attributes. The majority of respondents show appreciation for the professionalism and professional competence of auditors, while, they think that critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills are still limited and need to be improved. These findings, not only help auditors to improve themselves, but also provide solutions for managers of domestic auditing firms in Hanoi to enhance quality of audited human resources.

        Development of label-free electrochemical lactose biosensor based on graphene/poly(1,5-diaminonaphthalene) film

        In this work, a lactose biosensor was developed by co-immobilizing b-galactosidase (b-Gal) and glucose oxidase (GOx) on microelectrodes pre-modified with Pt/graphene/P(1,5-DAN) for estimation of lactose in dairy products to prevent lactose intolerance. The Pt microelectrode was modified with graphene and 1,5-polydiaminonaphthalene film. Graphene was synthesized by chemical vapor deposition on copper tape and manually transferred to the electrode surface. Polymeric P(1,5-DAN) was grafted on top of the graphene film by electropolymerization. Modified surface of the electrode was characterized by Raman spectra analysis, FE-SEM, AFM and cyclic voltammetry. The results indicated that deposition graphene film on electrode surface induced considerable enhancement in current signal, over 20 times as high as the uncoated electrode surface. The developed sensor was successfully used to determine lactose in model samples with sensitivity, correlation coefficient (R2) and limit of detection (LOD) estimated to be 1.33 mA/(mgml1), 0.995 and 1.3 mg/ml, respectively. The combined graphene and conductive P(1,5-DAN) could serve as a novel sensing platform on electrochemical sensors with superior sensitivity.

      • Transferrin-conjugated pH-sensitive platform for effective delivery of porous palladium nanoparticles and paclitaxel in cancer treatment

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Porous palladium (Pd) nanoparticles have garnered great research attention due to their potential anticancer activity and photothermal effect. In this study, a transferrin-conjugated pH-sensitive platform (Tf-PPP), comprising porous Pd nanoparticles (PdNPs) and paclitaxel (PTX), was successfully developed for combined chemo-phototherapy. Tf-PPPs have a small size of 164.6 ± 8.7 nm, PDI of 0.278 ± 0.029, and negative charge (-13.2 ± 1.8 mV). Poly(acrylic acid)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PAA-PEO), a pH sensitive polymer, was used to achieve pH-dependent drug release from nanoparticles. Transferrin (Tf) conjugated on the surface of nanoplatforms could enhance the cellular uptake and prolong nanoparticle accumulation in the tumor site. The combination of phototherapy induced by PdNPs and chemotherapeutic agent (PTX) could exhibit synergistic anticancer activities. Consistent findings were observed in both <I>in vitro</I> experiments including cytotoxicity, live/dead assay, and assessment of apoptotic protein levels, and <I>in vivo</I> antitumor study in MCF-7 tumor-bearing mice, with results decreasing in the following order: Tf-PPPs + NIR > Tf-PPPs > PPPs + NIR > PPPs > PTX > PdNPs.         Tributary Activities of Vietnam and Korea with China: Similarities and Differences

        상형 문자에 기반을 둔 중국의 문자 체계를 사용하는 두 국가인 한국과 베트남은 전근대 시기 동안 중국과 조공 관계를 유지했습니다. 조공 체제에 속한 다른 국가들에 비교했을 때, 베트남과 한국 모두 전형적인 조공 국가로 간주됩니다. 이 글은 두 국가가 시행했던 조공 활동의 공통점과 차이점들을 다루고 있습니다. 조공의 배경과 조공기간, 조공 사절단의 파견, 사절단 구성원들의 특징, 조공으로 바친 공물들, 그리고 두 국가의 지리적 위치 등과 같은 조공 활동의 몇 가지 양상을 고려하여, 이 글은 조공 관계의 유형적 특성에 대하여 서술하며, 이 체제가 오래 유지될 수 있었던 배경을 설명하고 있습니다. 이 글은 인접한 강대국인 중국에 대한 베트남과 한국의 전근대 시기 외교를 보여줍니다. 양국의 외교활동에서 발견되는 특징들은 현재 이 지역 그리고 세계의 주요 국가들과 관계를 맺을 때 양국이 참고할 수 있는 좋은 지침이 될 수 있습니다. As two countries using China’s writing system based on pictographic characters, Korea and Vietnam both maintained tributary relations with China during the pre-modern period. Compared to other countries in the tributary system, Vietnam and Korea are commonly considered the two archetypal tributary countries. This article examines the common characteristics and the differences in the tributary activities used by these two countries. By considering some aspects of tribute behavior, such as the cause of the tribute, periodicity of tribute, the dispatch of people to pay tribute, characteristics of members of the envoy delegations, the offerings of tribute, and the geographic position of the two countries in the tributary system, this paper describes the typical features of this system and explains the cause for maintaining it for such a long time. This paper also shows the diplomatic behavior of Vietnam - Korea in relations with the dominant neighboring country (China) at that time. These behaviors are still good practices for the two countries in relations with major countries in the region and the world today.

      • Tributary Relations of Vietnam and Japan with China during the Feudal Period: Some Reference Points

        Under feudalism, besides imploring investiture, tribute is said to be one of the two most typical activities at the core of diplomatic relations between China and the region, in particular, Vietnam and Japan. By using the comparative method and interdisciplinary approach, the author shows that there are many differences between Vietnam and Japan with regards to tribute activity with China during the feudal period. For example, the start and end of China’s tributary activities with Vietnam and Japan are not the same. The period of Japanese tributary activity was much more loosened than Vietnam. Vietnamese tributary relation was political, while Japan placed economic benefits as the main priority. In particular, the author also proved that although Japan and China had differences in behavior and level of dependence on the tributary activity of Vietnam, both Vietnam and Japan maintained independence and autonomy. Based on the historical, cultural, and geographical characteristics, as well as the position and force correlation of each country in relation to China, this article also explains the causes of these similarities and differences.

        A History of Vietnam’s Integration in Modern Times: The Case of Franco-Chinese Conflict over the Sino-Tonkinese Border (1885-1895)

        Investigating the clash among different forms of international relations has been a frequent issue in modern research and attracts interest in the fields of history and politics. In the nineteenth-century, Asia witnessed a fierce struggle between traditional relations in Asia that existed during the feudal period, that of "The Heavenly Dynasty, China and its vassal states"; and a the new form of relations introduced by the West, that of relations between "colonial powers and colonized countries." As a result, the formation of "colonial societies" in Asia with very specific features was established. However, as stated by Vu (2015), for many reasons, which include the lack of material resources, the politically sensitive nature of the object, and the focus on gains and losses in previous studies, there were little studies on the process of demarcating the Tonkinese border between Franco and Chinese in Vietnam, especially from a globalization perspective. This study thus aims at examining the issue of the demarcation of the Tonkinese Border between Franco and Chinese (1885-1895), in view of globalization, as a case study for the transition process of the modern history of Vietnamese society.
