Factors Influencing the Investor's Decision Making: The Moderating Role of Locus of Control
KAMRAN, Hafiz Waqas,QAISAR, Abthal,SULTANA, Nayyer,NAWAZ, Muhammad Atif,AHMAD, Hafiz Tanveer Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.12
Investors from the whole world are looking for those stock markets that are less affected by interest rates. Pakistan is a good place to invest and the investors from the whole world are considering Pakistan for future ventures. The current study, therefore, aims to analyze the factors affecting investors' decision making in Pakistan with the interaction effect of locus of control. The primary data are gathered from 300 respondents. Structural equation modelling (SEM-PLS) is used to analyze the interactions among variables. The study finds positive impact of availability and representative biases on investment decision making. The study could not find any moderating role of locus of control. The results imply that decisions made by Pakistani investors are driven by the most easily or currently available information and they trust on the information obtained from family and friends without any authentication and verification. One possible description of insignificant moderation effect of locus of control can be the sample traits used in the study, e.g., personal characteristics, that change from culture to culture. Another description of these findings may be the association between heuristic biases, including availability, representative and psychological biases and decision-making regarding investment is not personality specific.
A High Frequency Isolated Single-Phase Impedance-Source AC-AC Converter
Hafiz Furqan Ahmed,Zeeshan Aleem,Honnyong Cha,Heung-Guen Kim 전력전자학회 2015 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2015 No.6
This paper deals with a new family of single-phase impedance source ac-ac converters which employs a high frequency transformer between the impedance source network and the load. The proposed structure have unique features: providing a wide range of output ac voltage with buck-boost, maintaining or reversing the phase angle, and reduced inrush and harmonic current component. In addition to the aforementioned benefits the proposed converter incorporates a high frequency transformer which provides isolation between input and output, and removes the need for bulky 60 Hz low frequency transformer which improves the efficiency of the converter in terms of size, weight and cost of the transformer. Moreover, high frequency transformer can also be utilized in adjusting the gain of the converter. An experimental prototype of proposed converter is built and tested to prove its performance and effectiveness.

Purpose: This pilot study aims to conceptualize a new green marketing mix for retail consumers based on Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) model. Moreover, it also aims to conceptualize a testable research model of new green marketing mix with consumers’ green purchasing behavior, and to validate the measurement model with traditional as well as modern suggested validating techniques. Research design, data and methodology: A pilot test data from 75 respondents of retail buyers of energy-efficient electric appliances in Pakistan were tested for the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) by examining a measurement model of the construct through different validation techniques (like Composite Reliability, McDonald’s Omega (ω), rho (ρA), HTMT, etc.) as heretofore these scales were not validated through these modern methods. Results: The results revealed that the instrument has a certain degree of reliability and validity through different validating techniques. All the measurement items reach the suggested threshold values. Conclusions: Therefore, this study conceptualized an integrated framework of all the three stakeholders of the environment (government, companies, and public or consumers) to achieve environmental sustainability. Hence, future studies can extend these findings and conduct a full-scale study to establish an empirical relationship between the 5G’s of green marketing for retailing businesses and consumers’ green purchase behavior.
Removal of humic acid from water using adsorption coupled with electrochemical regeneration
Hafiz Muhammad Anwaar Asghar,Syed Nadir Hussain,Edward Pelham Lindfield Roberts,Nigel Willis Brown 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.7
A novel and economic waste water treatment technology comprised of adsorption coupled with electrochemical regeneration was introduced at the University of Manchester in 2006. An electrically conducting adsorbent material called NyexTM 1000 (Graphite intercalation based material) was developed for the said purpose. This adsorbent material delivered significantly lower adsorption capacity for the removal of a number of organic pollutants. With the aim to expand the scope of newly developed adsorbent material called NyexTM 2000, we studied the adsorption of humic acid followed by electrochemical regeneration. NyexTM 2000 is a highly electrically conducting material with an adsorption capacity almost twice that of NyexTM 1000 (intercalation based graphite compound) for humic acid. The adsorption of humic acid onto both NyexTM adsorbents was found to be fast enough keeping almost the same kinetics with approximately 50% of the adsorption capacity being achieved within the first twenty minutes. The parameters affecting the regeneration efficiency, including the treatment time, charge passed and current density, were investigated. The regeneration efficiency at around 100% for NyexTM 1000 & 2000 adsorbents saturated with humic acid was obtained using the charge passed of 8 and 22 Cg−1 at a current density of 7mA cm−2 during a treatment time of 30minutes,respectively.
Improved phenol adsorption from aqueous solution using electrically conducting adsorbents
Hafiz Muhammad Anwaar Asghar,Syed Nadir Hussain,Hamed Sattar,Edward Pelham Lindfield Roberts,Nigel Willis Brown 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.5
The electrically conducting and partially porous graphite based adsorbent (called NyexTM 2000) was testedfor its adsorption capacity and electrochemical regeneration ability for the removal of phenol from aqueous solution. NyexTM 2000 was tested in comparison with NyexTM 1000, which is currently being used for a number of industrialwaste water treatment applications. NyexTM 1000 exhibited small adsorption capacity of 0.1 mg g−1 for phenol becauseof having small specific surface area of 1 m2 g−1. In contrast, NyexTM 2000 with specific surface area of 17 m2 g−1 deliveredan adsorption capacity of 0.8 mg g−1, which was eight-fold higher than that of NyexTM 1000. NyexTM 2000 wassuccessfully electrochemically regenerated by passing a current of 0.5 A, charge passed of 31 C g−1 for a treatmenttime of 45 minutes. These electrochemical parameters were comparable to NyexTM 1000 for which a current of 0.5 A,charge passed of 5 C g−1 for a treatment time of 20 minutes were applied for complete oxidation of adsorbed phenol. The comparatively high charge density was found to be required for NyexTM 2000, which is justified with its higheradsorption capacity. The FTIR results validated the mineralization of adsorbed phenol into CO2 and H2O except theformation of few by-products, which were in traces when compared with the concentration of phenol removed fromaqueous solution. The electrical energy as required for electrochemical oxidation of phenol adsorbed onto NyexTM 1000& 2000 was found to be 214 and 196 J mg−1, respectively. The comparatively low energy requirement for electrochemicaloxidation using NyexTM 2000 is consistent with its higher bed electrical conductivity, which is twice that of NyexTM1000.

Hafiz Abid Mahmood Malik,Faiza Abid,Nadeem Mahmood,Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin,Asif Malik 대한의료정보학회 2019 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.25 No.3
Objectives: Dengue epidemic is a dynamic and complex phenomenon that has gained considerable attention due to its injurious effects. The focus of this study is to statically analyze the nature of the dengue epidemic network in terms of whether it follows the features of a scale-free network or a random network. Methods: A multifarious network of Aedes aegypti is addressed keeping the viewpoint of a complex system and modelled as a network. The dengue network has been transformed into a one-mode network from a two-mode network by utilizing projection methods. Furthermore, three network features have been analyzed, the power-law, clustering coefficient, and network visualization. In addition, five methods have been applied to calculate the global clustering coefficient. Results: It has been observed that dengue epidemic follows a powerlaw, with the value of its exponent γ = –2.1. The value of the clustering coefficient is high for dengue cases, as weight of links. The minimum method showed the highest value among the methods used to calculate the coefficient. Network visualization showed the main areas. Moreover, the dengue situation did not remain the same throughout the observed period. Conclusions: The results showed that the network topology exhibits the features of a scale-free network instead of a random network. Focal hubs are highlighted and the critical period is found. Outcomes are important for the researchers, health officials, and policy makers who deal with arbovirus epidemic diseases. Zika virus and Chikungunya virus can also be modelled and analyzed in this manner.
