A Web Tension Control Strategy for Multi-span Web Transport Systems in Annealing Furnace
Lee, Gyoo Taek,Shin, Jong Min,Kim, Han Me,Kim, Jong Shik The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan 2010 ISIJ international Vol.50 No.6
<P>This paper presents a web tension control strategy for multi-span web transport in a continuous annealing process (CAP) used in steel manufacture. In the CAP, the temperature of the steel web is varied over a wide range, and this generates a thermal strain in the web. In addition, in order to save workspace, vertical type web transport systems are usually used, and the weight of the web causes a gravity strain in the web. These strains in the web induce the variation of the web tension. To control the web tension in the CAP, a feed-forward tension control scheme is suggested, which is based on a mathematical model considering the additional strains due to thermal and gravity effects. The performance of the proposed feed-forward tension control scheme is experimentally evaluated in an actual CAP. In addition, to respond to the variations of many system parameters, a feedback tension control scheme based on the tension observer is proposed. The performance of the feedback tension control system is evaluated by computer simulation.</P>

Background/Aim: Cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of kidney diseases. The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of interleukin (IL)-1 cluster genes on diabetic nephropathy in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods: We investigated -511 C/T polymorphism of IL-1β and tandem repeat polymorphism in intron 2 of IL-1 receptor antagonist in type 2 DM patients with end-stage kidney failure as compared with patients without nephropathy. Results: The IL1B2 allele was found more frequently in patients with kidney failure than in controls (57.4 vs. 46.1%, p<0.05). An excessive homozygous carriage of IL1B2 was found in patients with kidney failure when compared with controls (30.5 vs. 18.3%, p<0.05). The allelic frequency of IL1RN^(*)2 was also higher in cases than in controls without nephropathy (8.4 vs. 2.8%, p<0.05). The carriage rate of IL1RN^(*)2 was significantly associated with an increased risk of kidney failure (15.8 vs. 5.6%; OR 3.19, 95% CI 1.24-8.17). The risk of kidney failure was highest in those carrying both IL1RN^(*)2 and IL1B2 (OR 3.90, 95% CI 1.34-11.40). Conclusion: IL1B2 and IL1RN^(*)2 genotypes of the IL-1 cluster genes are associated with diabetic nephropathy in Korean patients with type 2 DM.

The present study was done to evaluate the clinical features in 69 cases of IgA nephropathy from January 1981 to April l985 and also follow-up renal function was evaluated in 36 cases that were followed up for 22 months retrospectively. The result was summarized as follows; 1) IgA nephropathy was common in young adults and mean age of cases was 30.9 years and male to female ratio was 1.4:l. 2) In clinical manifestation, gross hematuria was in 32%, asymptomatic urinary abnormality in 46%, nephrotic syndrome in 20% and renal insufficiency in 19%. 3) We have observed deterioration of renal function in 11 cases(31%), and 6 cases(17%) were progressed in deterioration of renal function in follow-up study. 4) Nephrotic range proteinuria and hypertension were closely associated with poor prognosis and other prognostic factors were not significant statistically.

Background: The laparoscopy requires CO₂ insufflation and posture changes for operational convenience. However, above circumstances aFfect the cardiopulmonary systems significantly. And then intracranial pressure(ICP) may be also influenced. Methods: To ascertain the changes of ICP, an experimental study was performed, in which the parameters of hemodynamic status, arterial blood gas components and ICP were measured from twelve cases of Korean mongrel dogs. Pneumoperitoneum was produced by CO₂, insufflation(15 mmHg) and then posture was altered from horizontal to head-down tilt of 20, 30 and 40 degree*. The measurements were obtained before (control), after CO₂ insufflated horizontal position at 20, 40 and 60 minute in CO insufflated tilt and CO, deflated horizontal. Results: MAP and HR were not related to the insufflated time and degree of tilt. CVP and PCWP were significantly increased after CO₂ insufflated tilt (p$lt;0.0l), but retumed to control after deflated supine. PaCO₂ was not significantly ch after CO₂ insufflated supine, but grdually increased with degree of tilt and time (p$lt;0.01). ICP was increased at 40 and 60 minute of 20, and at 20 minute of 30 (p$lt;0.05), then markedly increased at 40 and 60 minute of 30, and at 20, 40 and 60 minute of 40 tilt (p$lt;0.01). The increment of ICP was parallel with time and degree of tilt. But, ICP was returned to control after deflated supine. Conelusions: ICP was increased significantly during laparoscopy in head-down tilt, although it was reversible. Therefore, the patient must be given special attention during laparoscopy in whom the increment of ICP may be harmful.

BACKGROUND: Globally, mulberry (Morus sp.) is exploited for feeding leaf to silkworms in order to obtain silk fiber or for animal feedstock production. Also, mulberry fruit is known to a by-product that was produced from mulberry tree after harvesting leaves for silkworm rearing, as a yield and consumption of mulberry fruit was increased, it has been fixing to a new income crop .Mulberry leaves and fruits are used for the health benefits of human beings. Mulberry contains various bioactive components, such as alkaloids and flavonoids. Mulberry flavonoids are an important part of the diet because of their effects on human nutrition. The flavonoids in mulberry leaf and fruit of ‘Suhyang’ (Morus alba L.) were determined. METHODSANDRESULTS: Flavonoids form ulberry leaf and fruit of ‘Suhyang’ were analysed using ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection and quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-DAD-QTOF/MS) technique. An UPLCDAD- QTOF/MS system was used, and identification of mulberry leaves constituents was carried out on the basis of the complementary information obtained from LC spectra, MS ions, and MS/MS fragments. The mulberry leaf (16 flavonoids) and fruit (9 flavonoids) were isolated and analyzed from Suhyang using UPLC-DAD-QTOF/MS chromatogram. To the best of our knowledge, Quercetin 3-O-(6''-O-malonyl) glucoside and quercetin 3-O-rutinoside (rutin) was detected on the highest content in leaf and fruit, respectively and further research will be devoted to evaluate their biological activity. CONCLUSION: Obtaining information about the concentration of functional materials in mulberry leaves could contribute to the development and promotion of processed, functional products and offer possible industrial use of ‘Suhyang’, holding promises to enhance the overall profitability of sericulture.
