        Repetition Rate Multiplication in a Diode-Pumped Femtosecond Nd:Glass Laser by Using a Coupled Cavity

        We demonstrate a diode-pumped femtosecond Nd:glass laser with an enhanced repetition rate for the first time. A coupled cavity is employed to initiate the generation of multiple pulses with equal temporal intervals inside the main cavity. Stable pulse trains with a doubled repetition rate have been obtained successfully. Extension of the approach to a higher repetition rate is quite feasible, and a tripled repetition rate, i.e., 300 MHz, has been observed experimentally.

        Transparent organogel based on photopolymerizable magnetic cationic monomer for electromagnetic wave absorbing

        The application of conventional absorbing materials is limited due to complex preparation process andpoor transparency caused by fillers. In this study, a highly transparent ionic organogel was preparedby photocuring a dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solution of a polymerizable magnetic cationic monomer[DAC]5[Dy(NCS)8]. Both components of organogel, which are the photopolymerizable magnetic cationicmonomer and polar solvent DMSO, have an important effect on the magnetic losses and dielectric lossesproperties of the organogel respectively. By tuning the mass ratio of DMSO to the monomer and the contentof the cross-linker, the complex permittivity of the gel could be effectively adjusted to improve theimpedance matching, and finally a gel with excellent wave absorption properties and good tensile propertieswas obtained. The optimum organogel was fabricated with a minimum reflection loss of 45.9 dBand a broadest effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of up to 5.2 GHz, and effective absorption in the millimeterband (26.5–40 GHz) which is within the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks. With the advantagesof simple preparation method, arbitrary shape and good adhesion to a variety of substrates andcomplex surfaces, this multifunctional gel provides a new solution for complex scenarios requiring opticaltransparency and simultaneous absorption of electromagnetic waves.

      • Expression of Hepatitis B Virus S Gene in Pichia pastoris and Application of the Product for Detection of Anti-HBs Antibody

        Antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAb) is the important serological marker of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Conventionally, the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) obtained from the plasma of HBV carriers is used as the diagnostic antigen for detection of HBsAb. This blood-origin antigen has some disadvantages involved in high cost, over-elaborate preparation, risk of infection, et al. In an attempt to explore the suitable recombinant HBsAg for the diagnostic purpose, the HBV S gene was expressed in Pichia pastoris and the product was applied for detection of HBsAb. Hepatitis B virus S gene was inserted into the yeast vector and the expressed product was analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrolamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), immunoblot, electronic microscope and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The preparations of synthesized S protein were applied to detect HBsAb by sandwich ELISA. The S gene encoding the 226 amino acid of HBsAg carrying ahexa-histidine tag at C terminus was successfully expressed in Pichia pastoris. The His-Tagged S protein in this strain was expressed at a level of about 14.5% of total cell protein. Immunoblot showed the recombinant HBsAg recognized by monoclonal HBsAb and there was no cross reaction between all proteins from the host and normal sera. HBsAb detection indicated that the sensitivity reached 10 mIu (micro international unit)/ml and the specificity was 100% with HBsAb standard of National Center for Clinical Laboratories. A total of 293 random sera were assayed using recombinant S protein and a commercial HBsAb ELISA kit (produced by blood-origin HBsAg), 35 HBsAb positive sera and 258 HBsAb negative sera were examined. The same results were obtained with two different reagents and there was no significant difference in the value of S/CO between the two reagents. The recombinant HBV S protein with good immunoreactivity and specificity was successfully expressed in Pichia pastoris. The reagent for HBsAb detection prepared by Pichia pastoris-derived S protein showed high sensitivity and specificity for detection of HBsAb standard. And a good correlation was obtained between the reagent produced by recombinant S protein and commercial kit produced by blood-origin HBsAg in random samples.

        Microstructure and Compression Strength of W/HfC Composites Synthesized by Plasma Activated Sintering

        In this work, W/HfC composite materials were synthesized using plasma activated sintering. The influence of the sinteringtemperature and HfC weight fraction on the relative density, microstructure and compression strength were investigated. The results demonstrated that the sintering temperature and the HfC content significantly affected the microstructure of W/HfC composites. Moreover, the grain size of the W/HC composites decreased and the mechanical properties were improvedremarkably due to the addition of HfC. The majority of HfC particles reacted with oxygen impurities to generate HfO2,whichpurified the grain boundaries and refined the grain size of the W matrix. The optimum content of HfC is 2 wt%, at which ahigh compressive strength of 1.98 GPa and a high strain of 34.7% were obtained.

        Adaptive Event-triggered Cooperative Tracking Control Under Full-state Constraints Based on Nonlinear Time-varying Multi-agent Systems

        An adaptive dynamic surface control (DSC) scheme using event triggering mechanism and barrier Lyapunov function (BLF) to constraint state variables and solve energy saving issues is proposed for multi-agent systems (MASs). Furthermore, invented a control algorithm that uses the event-triggered mechanism for not only decrease the number of information exchanges between agents significantly but also decreased utilization of electricityand communication expenses in the control process. DSC and full-state constraints are used to solve the “complexityexplosion” problem of the traditional back-stepping method. Simulation and semi-physical experimental platformswere constructed to verify the proposed algorithm is valid.
