        A COMMON FIXED POINT THEOREM IN AN M*-METRIC SPACE AND AN APPLICATION

        In this paper, we introduce the concept of M*-metric spaces and how much the M*-metric and the b-metric spaces are related. Moreover, we introduce some ways of generating M*-metric spaces. Also, we investigate some types of convergence associated with M*-metric spaces. Some common fixed point for contraction and generalized contraction mappings in M*-metric spaces. Our work has been supported by many examples and an application.

        Developing an integrated model for planning the delivery of construction materials to post-disaster reconstruction projects

        Construction material delivery to post-disaster reconstruction projects is challenging because of the resource and time limitations that follow a large-scale disaster. There is compelling evidence that inadequate planning jeopardises the success of a large number of post-disaster reconstruction projects. Thus, the current study proposes an integrated approach to facilitate the procurement planning of construction materials following a large-scale disaster. The proposed approach clustered the location of construction projects using a differential evolution (DE)-K-prototypes, a new partitional clustering algorithm based on DE and K-prototypes, method. Then, using a permanent matrix prioritises cluster points based on route reliability-affecting factors. The model’s objectives are to minimise the total travel time, maximise the reliability of the route, and minimise the total weighted undelivered materials to projects. In the case of distribution of material through land vehicles, the possibility of breakdowns in the vehicle is considered, allowing for the determination of vehicle breakdown under various scenarios and the minimisation of undelivered materials to projects. As a result of the uncertain character of the disaster, the demands of construction projects are fuzzy, and Jimenez’s method is used to handle it. Due to the complexity of the problem, two algorithms are proposed, a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) and a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II). The results confirm that the proposed MOEA/D has a higher accuracy while NSGA-II has a shorter computational time. By providing new theoretical perspectives on disaster recovery strategies in the construction sector, this study contributes to the growing body of knowledge about disaster recovery strategies in the sector. The findings of this study can be employed to develop an integrated planning system for the delivery of construction materials to post-disaster reconstruction projects in disaster-prone countries.

      • A new class of bivariate distributions with exponential and gamma conditionals

        A new class of bivariate distributions is derived by specifying its conditionals as the exponential and gamma distributions. Some properties and relations with other distributions of the new class are studied. In particular, the estimation of parameters is considered by the methods of maximum likelihood and pseudolikelihood of a special case of the new class. An application using a real bivariate data is given for illustrating the flexibility of the new class in this context, and, also, for comparing the estimation results obtained by the maximum likelihood and pseudolikelihood methods.

        أدب السجون: مقاومة إبداعية لقهر السلطة

        “O my first knock on the stone until you wake up all mankind…O my first knock on the wall until our night turns into day light…O hearts that are bleeding into the dimness…O hearts that are bleeding and singing…They imprisoned you intending to imprison the word… but the word-in spite of its self and myself-got out of the bars and the fences”. When ideologies and ideas contradict and the gap between sides of a discussion or a struggle widens, each side starts to push away and marginalize-or even eliminate the other side. When the sides of the struggle are: oppressive dictatorship state facing some intellectuals and writers, we have either to imagine what this confrontation could lead to, or read what these writers wrote, those who went through this confrontation with the oppressive power and ended up in prisons where torture turned some of them into disfigured signs on walls, but it also turned others-with whom we are concerned-into resisting rocks and rebellious spirits that refused humiliation or surrender and which succeeded in creating a new concept of creativity and resistance. Prison literature is that produced in prison or dealing with prison as subject. The particularity of this type of literature lies in the particularity of the experiment which brought it forward, its features shaped by the domain, historical, psychological and cultural circumstances in which the writer went through and was influenced by. The importance of this type of literature does not emanate from the fame of its authors, but from its being certificates and historical documents of the oppressive period in which the Arab countries lived and still lives and which brought forward this type of literature.

        A Local Limit Theorem for Homogeneous Markov Chains

        In this paper a local limit theorem is proved for a sequence of randomvariables that are linked in a homogeneous Markov chain with arbitrary set of possible states. The achieved results makes it possible to estimate the rate of convergence without assuming the existence of absolute moments of order not less than the third for the transition probabilities.

        Kinetics of Base Hydrolysis of Some Chromen-2-one Indicator Dyes in Different Solvents at Different Temperatures

        7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one(HC)와 7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one-4-acetic acid(HCA)의 염기성 가수분해반응을 aqueous-methanol과 aqueous-acetone 혼합물에서 283 K에서 313 K의 온도 범위에서 속도론적으로 연구하였다. 반응의 활성화 파라미터를 구하고 토의하였다. 게다가, 물, 물-에탄올, 물-아세톤 혼합물 내에서 화합물들에 대한 활성화 에너지 장벽의 변화를 속도론적 데이터로부터 추정하였다. 활성화 장벽의 변화는 HC and HCA의 가수분해 반응과 거의 같았다. HC와 HCA의 염기성 가수분해는 $k_{obs}=k_2[OH^-]$와 같은 속도법칙을 따른다. 메탄올 또는 아세톤의 비가 증가함에 따라 HC 와 HCA의 속도 상수들이 감소하는 것은 $OH^-$ 이온이 불안정해지기 때문이다. 활성화 엔트로피가 큰 음의 값을 갖는 다는 것은 반응이 중간 착물의 형성을 경유하며 진행된다는 것을 의미하며, 또한 중간 착물이 경직성과 안정도를 갖는다는 것을 의미한다. 그러므로, 중간 착물의 고리 열림이 속도 조절 단계가 될 것이다. Base hydrolysis of 7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one (HC) and 7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one-4-acetic acid (HCA) in aqueous-methanol and aqueous-acetone mixtures were studied kinetically at temperature range from 283 to 313 K. The activation parameters of the reactions were evaluated and discussed. Moreover, the change in the activation energy barrier of the investigated compounds from water to water-methanol and water-acetone mixtures was estimated from the kinetic data. It is observed that the change in activation barriers is more or less the same for the hydrolysis of HC and HCA. Base hydrolysis of HC and HCA follows a rate law with $k_{obs}=k_2[OH^-]$. The decrease in the rate constants of HC and HCA as the proportion of methanol or acetone increases is due to the destabilization of $OH^-$ ion. The high negative values of entropy of activation support the proposal mechanism, i.e. the investigated reaction takes place via the formation of an intermediate complex. Moreover, these values refer to the rigidity and stability of the intermediate complex. Thus, the ring opening of the intermediate complex would be the rate controlling step.

        Design and experimental analysis of new industrial vibration dampers

        Vibration dampers are the first line of defense against shock and impacts sustained by mechanical and structural systems. Consequently, for decades, new impact damping technologies have been developed and applied in several engineering fields to attenuate undesired vibrations. Linear particle chain (LPC) impact dampers are the latest category of impact dampers being developed for the mitigation of unwanted vibrations in many systems. However, the challenges associated with prototyping such devices made their application in practical systems very limited. This paper proposes five innovative designs for the LPC impact dampers satisfying a wide range of industry needs in terms of efficiency, cost, and sustainability. The proposed designs are fabricated and tested under the same conditions to assess their efficiency in attenuating the vibration of a simple structure. Each design showed consistent behavior, but some designs outperformed others depending on the geometry, physical characteristics, and type of structure. The detailed design, experimental study, and time response comparisons are presented here to provide an initial study towards the development of practical sustainable LPC vibration dampers for real engineering applications.
