Generalization of Jensen's inequality by Euler's identity and related results

In this paper we consider n-convex funtions. Using Euler`s identity, the result concering for Jensen`s inequality and converses of Jensen`s inequality for signed measure are presented. As a consequence, also the results concerning to the Hermite-Hadamard inequalities are presented. Using these inequlities, we produce new expenentially convex functions. Finally, we give several examples of the families of functions for which the obtained results can be applied.

In the present study, we determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Oncicola luehei (14,281bp), the first archiacanthocephalan representative and the second complete sequence from the phylum Acanthocephala. The complete genome contains 36 genes including 12 protein coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rrnL and rrnS) as reported for other syndermatan species. All genes are encoded on the same strand. The overall nucleotide composition of O. luehei mtDNA is 37.7% T, 29.6% G, 22.5% A, and 10.2% C. The overall A+T content (60.2%) is much lower, compared to other syndermatan species reported so far, due to the high frequency (18.3%) of valine encoded by GTN in its protein-coding genes. Results from phylogenetic analyses of amino acid sequences for 10 protein-coding genes from 41 representatives of major metazoan groups including O. luehei supported monophyly of the phylum Acanthocephala and of the clade Syndermata (Acanthocephala+Rotifera), and the paraphyly of the clade Eurotatoria (classes Bdelloidea+Monogononta from phylum Rotifera). Considering the position of the acanthocephalan species within Syndermata, it is inferred that obligatory parasitism characteristic of acanthocephalans was acquired after the common ancestor of acanthocephalans diverged from its sister group, Bdelloidea. Additional comparison of complete mtDNA sequences from unsampled acanthocephalan lineages, especially classes Polyacanthocephala and Eoacanthocephala, is required to test if mtDNA provides reliable information for the evolutionary relationships and pattern of life history diversification found in the syndermatan groups.
Probabilistic sensitivity of base-isolated buildings to uncertainties

Characteristic parameter values of seismic isolators deviate from their nominal design values due to uncertainties and/or errors in their material properties and element dimensions, etc. Deviations may increase over service life due to environmental effects and service conditions. For accurate evaluation of the seismic safety level, all such effects, which would result in deviations in the structural response, need to be taken into account. In this study, the sensitivity of the probability of failure of the structures equipped with nonlinear base isolation systems to the uncertainties in various isolation system characteristic parameters is investigated in terms of various isolation system and superstructure response parameters in the context of a realistic three-dimensional base-isolated building model via Monte Carlo Simulations. The inherent record-to-record variability nature of the earthquake ground motions is also taken into account by carrying out analyses for a large number of ground motion records which are classified as those with and without forward-directivity effects. Two levels of nominal isolation periods each with three different levels of uncertainty are considered. Comparative plots of cumulative distribution functions and related statistical evaluation presented here portray the potential extent of the deviation of the structural response parameters resulting from the uncertainties and the uncertainty levels considered, which is expected to be useful for practicing engineers in evaluating isolator test results for their projects.

This paper has investigated the total organic carbon contents together with total nitrogen, total phosphorous, electrical conductivity and grain size parameters of the surface sediments of the Sundarbans mangrove forest in Bangladesh. The results showed that the seasonal variations of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Total Nitrogen (TN) were significant at all sampling points. TOC and TN content at the monsoon were quite higher than that of the winter season. TOC and TN also showed strong positive correlations between them and negatively correlated with Total Phosphorus (TP). Depending on the distributions of TOC and TN, the studied forest ranges could be arranged at the following order: Sarankhola and Chandpai ranges > Khulna range > Satkhira range. In contrast, TP content showed the reverse order of TOC and TN, where the higher concentrations were generally distributed at the southern parts of Sundarbans. Besides, TOC and TN showed linear positive correlations with grain size distribution where fine grained sediments contain higher amount of TOC and TN. However, in terms of grain size variation, TP reversed the results of TOC and TN. Thus “grain size effect” was an important factor for influencing the distributions of sediment nutrients. Carbon-Nitrogen (C/N) ratios showed the highest contribution of terrestrial organic carbon near the Sarankhola and Chandpai ranges were iso-lines projecting towards northeast, indicating the influence of the upstream river water. Sediment Nutrient Indexes (SNI) were low, although reasonably variable, in forest floor directly receiving effluents from other anthropogenic sources/farms. It was evident that potential nutrient levels changed from the high values at northeast sites to the southwest sites, and this pattern was common across the four forest ranges.

The aim of the present study is to analyze the financial performance of converted commercial bank from non-banking financial institution through a case study of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited as sample organization. It is observed that the bank is able to achieve a stable growth rate in total deposits, total loans and advances, and net income after tax during the period of 2015-2019. Researchers also calculated some ratio analysis and noticed that the financial position of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited was not so strong because bank's ROA, ROE, NIM and other ratios were below standard. Researchers used secondary data that were examined by using descriptive statistical tools and panel data regression model. Result shows that Bangladesh Commerce Bank has satisfactory operating efficiency, assets management efficiency, and gives loans to customers. In addition, the present study has tested some hypotheses regarding net income after tax, ROA and ROE with total assets, total loans, total deposits and interest income. These hypotheses have been accepted, which means there is no significant influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The study suggests that Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited had the opportunities to make their financial position stronger by utilizing their good financial position and management efficiencies.

The application of concrete-fi lled stainless steel tubular (CFSST) columns has been increased rapidly in bridges and other infrastructure around the globe due to its greater corrosion resistance, fi re resistance, and durability. This research has investigated the compressive behavior of CFSST columns both experimentally and numerically. An experimental program has been carried out with twenty-four (24) column specimens of six (6) diff erent sizes and shapes with varying concrete strength . A 3D non-linear fi nite element model was developed to validate the experimental result. Besides, an extensive parametric study has been conducted to investigate the eff ect of geometric and material properties. It was observed that the numerical model can predict the experimental result and failure mode with very high accuracy. In general, the failure was occurred due to the outwards buckling of the steel tube. The ductility index decreased with increasing the compressive strength of concrete. The rectangular columns exhibited less ductility index than the square and circular columns. The increase in column axial capacity due to higher concrete strength was more signifi cant for columns having a higher depth to thickness (D/t) ratio. Finally, the axial capacity of the columns was compared with the design standards.

Shigella spp. constitutes some of the key pathogens responsible for the global burden of diarrhoeal disease. With over 164 million reported cases per annum, shigellosis accounts for 1.1 million deaths each year. Majority of these cases occur among the children of the developing nations and the emergence of multi-drug resistance Shigella strains in clinical isolates demands the development of better/new drugs against this pathogen. The genome of Shigella flexneri was extensively analyzed and found 4,362 proteins among which the functions of 674 proteins, termed as hypothetical proteins (HPs) had not been previously elucidated. Amino acid sequences of all these 674 HPs were studied and the functions of a total of 39 HPs have been assigned with high level of confidence. Here we have utilized a combination of the latest versions of databases to assign the precise function of HPs for which no experimental information is available. These HPs were found to belong to various classes of proteins such as enzymes, binding proteins, signal transducers, lipoprotein, transporters, virulence and other proteins. Evaluation of the performance of the various computational tools conducted using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and a resoundingly high average accuracy of 93.6% were obtained. Our comprehensive analysis will help to gain greater understanding for the development of many novel potential therapeutic interventions to defeat Shigella infection.

The aim of this study is to determine the factors that affect customer satisfaction in the banking sector of Bangladesh because the economic growth and stability of a country depends on the soundness of its banking sector. The study tries to investigate and assess the quality of service on customer satisfaction in the banking sector. As a sample, data were collected from 382 respondents who were customers of 32 selected commercial banks of Bangladesh. A pre-structured questionnaire was used to collect the required data and information. OLS regression model and descriptive statistical tools were used to analyze data. The results of this study reveal that the quality of service (e.g., tangibility, reliability, and empathy) has a statistically significant impact on customer satisfaction. The results also show that there is a positive correlation between the customer satisfaction and service quality dimensions in the banking sector of Bangladesh. The present study finds that in the domestic banking industry the service quality dimensions (i.e., tangibility, reliability, and empathy) have significant positive impact on customer satisfaction. The findings of the present study suggest that Bank Supervisory Authority, Central Bank of Bangladesh, and Bank Management should give special emphasis to ensure maximum satisfaction of banks' customers.
