      • Awareness on E-waste Management and Disposal: A Case Study on Public Perception in Malaysia

        ( Fauziah S. H. ) 한국폐기물자원순환학회(구 한국폐기물학회) 2019 ISSE 초록집 Vol.2019 No.-

Electronic and electrical wastes (E-waste) inventory conducted in 2008 in Malaysia highlighted that 1.11 million tonnes of Ewaste will be generated in 2020. An accumulation of 761.5 million unit of E-waste is projected from 2008 to 2020, with mobile phone batteries contributing the largest portion (34%) followed by mobile phone (26%). This alarming trend calls for appropriate attention and actions from the relevant stakeholders. General public as the largest E-waste generator must be made aware on the gravity of this situation. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the level of awareness on E-waste management and disposal among Malaysian public. Prior to the actual study, reliability test was conducted to examine the validity and clarity of 30 questions on awareness and issues pertaining to E-waste management, recycling and disposal. For the actual survey, the questionnaires were randomly distributed to 700 respondents to give an approximately 96% confidence level. From the reliability test, an excellent internal consistency was obtained with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient value of 0.922. In general, 84% of the public understand the terminology of E-waste by choosing that the term can be defined as ‘unwanted electrical or electronic devices that are meant for reuse, resale, recycling, or disposal’. However, when given a list of items to be selected as examples of E-waste, majority of the general public was rather confused where 24% think that kitchen utensils are also E-waste. This can be further elaborated with the fact that 97% of the respondents have not been involved or come across any campaign related to Ewaste and its management. As for the choices of E-waste management and disposal, 10% of the public admitted that they discard their E-waste into the general municipal solid waste while 15% kept them in the house. Only 20% of the respondent sent their Ewaste to recycling center while 14% return the items to the manufacturers. Yet, majority of them think that the most ideal option in E-waste handling involved sending the E-waste to the recycling/collection center (20%) and returning it to manufacturer (15%). In conclusion, though the majority of the public in Malaysia know what E-waste is, their level of awareness on E-waste management and disposal is not comprehensive due to lack of accurate information. Therefore, extensive dissemination of information pertaining to E-waste should be conducted to improve the situation.

Energy absorption and failure behavior of Al/CFRP/GFRP hybrid tubes under quasistatic axial loading

Fauziah Mat,Mohd Ridzuan Mohd Jamir,Masniezam Ahmad,Mohd Shukry Abdul Majid,Khairul Azwan Ismail 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.7

Fiber metal laminate (FML) is gaining increased interest among researchers in designing thin-walled tubes as an efficient energy absorber. The combination of aluminum tube and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) as an FML hybrid tube has successfully demonstrated enhanced crashworthiness performance of structures. Previous studies reported FML hybrid tubes employing a single type of FRP composite material as the laminate material. Investigations on the effect of stacking sequences of multiple types of FRP composite as laminate materials are limited and mostly focused on sandwich structures. This study aims to investigate the effect of reinforcement material as a laminate layer and stacking sequences on the crashworthiness characteristics of aluminum-FRP hybrid tubes under quasi-static axial compression loading. The crashworthiness characteristics and the failure behavior of aluminum monolithic tube, aluminum-single FRP material, and aluminum-multi FRP material hybrid tubes are tested and compared. Glass FRP (GFRP) demonstrates great potential as a laminate material for aluminum tube compared with carbon FRP (CFRP). Aluminum-GFRP and aluminum-GFRPCFRP hybrid tubes exhibit a 26.4 % and 66.9 % increase in energy absorbed, respectively, compared with the monolithic aluminum tube. The specific energy absorption and crushing force efficiency of the aluminum-GFRP-CFRP hybrid tube show minimal reductions of 4.9 % and 6.2 %, respectively. GFRP is the better choice of laminate material for aluminum tubes compared with CFRP. Multiple FRP laminates show a larger crashworthiness enhancement of FRP hybrid tubes in achieving better crashworthiness performance of the energy absorber. These findings imply that the selection and stacking sequences of laminate material are vital in tailoring the performance of the hybrid tubes toward efficient energy absorbers.

Immobilization of Alcohol Dehydrogenase in Membrane: Fouling Mechanism at Different Transmembrane Pressure

        Fauziah Marpani,Muhammad Kiflain Zulkifli,Farazatul Harnani Ismail,Syazana Mohamad Pauzi 대한화학회 2019 대한화학회지 Vol.63 No.4

Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) (EC 1.1.1.1) was selected as the enzyme which will be immobilized on ultrafiltration membrane by fouling with different transmembrane pressure of 1, 2 and 3 bars. ADH will catalyze formaldehyde (CHOH) to methanol (CH3OH) and simultaneously oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) to NAD+. The concentration of enzyme and pH are fixed at 0.1 mg/ml and pH 7.0 respectively. The objective of the study focuses on the effect of different transmembrane pressure (TMP) on enzyme immobilization in term of permeate flux, observed rejection, enzyme loading and fouling mechanism. The results showed that at 1 bar holds the lowest enzyme loading which is 1.085 mg while 2 bar holds the highest enzyme loading which is 1.357 mg out of 3.0 mg as the initial enzyme feed. The permeate flux for each TMP decreased with increasing cumulative permeate volume. The observed rejection is linearly correlated with the TMP where increase in TMP will cause a higher observed rejection. Hermia model predicted that at irreversible fouling with standard blocking dominates at TMP of 3 bar, while cake layer and intermediate blocking dominates at 1 and 2 bar respectively.

        Mediastinal Anaplastic Ependymoma

        Dyah Fauziah,Irene Lingkan Parengkuan,Dhihintia Jiwangga,Paulus Raharjo,Mudjiani Basuki 대한흉부외과학회 2021 Journal of Chest Surgery (J Chest Surg) Vol.54 No.3

Ependymomas arise from ependymal cells and can grow at any site in the central nervous system (CNS), as well as in some locations outside of the CNS. The latter is rare, contributing to the frequent misdiagnoses of such cases. Herein, we present the case of a 54-year-old man with a history of lower limb weakness and numbness. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an extradural, heterogeneously enhanced solid lesion with a regular and well-de- fined border in the posterior mediastinum. A post-resection histopathological examina- tion revealed tumor-forming perivascular pseudo-rosettes that showed immunoreactivity against glial fibrillary acidic protein, epithelial membrane antigen, and vimentin, as well as a high Ki-67 labeling index. Based on pathological features, a diagnosis of anaplastic ependymoma was established.

Objective: The presence of mucin MG2 is very important because it can lead to the attachment of bacteria to mucosal tissue cavity mulut. In caries prevention has been a lot of effort has been done. There are various efforts that have been done to prevent effectively the identification of mutans streptococci serotypes and the correlation between the levels of salivary mu- cin MG2 and deft value in children who like to drink milk botol. There are many tools used to predict caries. The tool leads to bacteria and saliva circumstances. Methods: To detect bacterial colony detection S.mutans way, using the strip mutans caries, can know the number of colonies S.mutans in the mouth. Moreover, it can be used cariostat bacterial. The condition can be seen by using a saliva check buffer. In this research an attempt is developing predictive indicators of caries in children by using antibody monoclonal an- ti-mucin MG2. Results: The results of this analysis can show linear correlation between mucin against deft is 0.664, which means a positive linear correlation. Conclusion: This means that any increase in mucin can increase the value of deft. And we found a formula that can assumed the value of deft based on the level of mucin MG2, each rising 0.02 level mucin MG2, can increase at least 1 deft.

The Efficiency of Human Resources Management During the Disruption and Pandemic Era

M,Arief MUFRAINI,Murodi MURODI,Ahmad Tibrizi Soni WICAKSONO,Fauziah FAUZIAH,Faizul MUBAROK 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

Human resources are the main factor ensuring the efficiency of the company, especially in the middle of the disruption era and the Covid-19 pandemic. This research adopts the human resource efficiency approach to measure the performance of Indonesian Islamic banks that interact with each other within contextual issues of mega-merger policy in 2020. Samples were taken from twelve full-fledged Indonesian Islamic Banks from 2014 to 2019. The efficiency frontier analysis results show that most Islamic banks within the period of research are operating more on variable returns to scale basis, and only one bank has consistently been able to increase the output of financial intermediation performance proportionally for each additional input of human resources cost. The pooled regression test results on the three bank performance models show that allocation of human resource funds in Islamic banks tends to have more effect on increasing operational profits rather than the distribution of funds to the public through financing mechanisms or investment in Islamic securities. Based on verified models, more innovation in training employees and investing in training costs are needed for employees to have a deeper understanding of the nature of risk-profit of financing and investment activities of Sharia/Islamic banks. Highly skilled employees ensure the future promising performance of Islamic banks to deal with new global-normal.
