HYPERBOLICITY OF CHAIN TRANSITIVE SETS WITH LIMIT SHADOWING

In this paper we show that any chain transitive set of a diffeomorphism on a compact $C^{\infty}$-manifold which is $C^1$-stably limit shadowable is hyperbolic. Moreover, it is proved that a locally maximal chain transitive set of a $C^1$-generic diffeomorphism is hyperbolic if and only if it is limit shadowable.

The greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), is one of the most important pests of greenhouse crops. The intensive use of chemical insecticides has resulted in insecticide resistance in T. vaporariorum and the critical level of pesticides residue in crops. It is therefore necessary to develop new control methods based on ecological pest management. The present study was designed to control greenhouse whitefly by finding and using insect repellent wavelengths. The repellent wavelength experiment was conducted by a two-way phototactic apparatus given a choice between darkness and visible wavelength spectrum from violet (380–450 nm) to red (620–750 nm). The phototactic responses of the greenhouse whitefly were then investigated in a four-way phototactic apparatus given a choice between two light regimes, light-emitting diode (LED) and sunlight. The results indicated that the lowest (69.2%) and highest (97.8%) number of whiteflies were attracted to violet and orange (590–625 nm) spectra, respectively. In addition, the present study indicated a significant attraction of T. vaporariorum adults to sunlight compared with LED. Furthermore, the eggplants grown under growth LEDs showed a significantly higher growth rate than the plants grown under sunlight. These findings suggest that this type of LED not only has positive effects on plant growth but it also has a repellent activity on T. vaporariorum adults, leading us to develop an effective behavioral control of the greenhouse whitefly.
SOME PROPERTIES OF THE STRONG CHAIN RECURRENT SET

The article is devoted to exhibit some general properties of strong chain recurrent set and strong chain transitive components for a continuous map f on a compact metric space X. We investigate the relation between the weak shadowing property and strong chain transitivity. It is shown that a continuous map f from a compact metric space X onto itself with the average shadowing property is strong chain transitive.

Despite the importance of pod removal in the seeds of annual medics, there have been few studies carried out in this area. In this research, the role of pod removal in growth and biochemical enzyme activities was examined in three annual medic species during drought stress and subsequent recovery. This study was carried out as a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design. The treatments were carried out on annual medic species of three levels: Medicago rigidula, M. scutellata, M. polymorpha, presence or removal of the pod and water stress. Water stress was split into the following four levels: 100%, 80%, 60%, and 40% field capacity (FC) during the stress period. The results showed that drought stress and subsequent recovery increased proline content and antioxidant enzyme activity. The highest proline content and antioxidant enzyme activity was observed in M. Scutellata. However, the rate at which proline increased, decreased at 40% FC whereas the antioxidant enzyme reached their highest activity at 40% FC. The antioxidant enzymes’ activity and proline content without the pod experiment were significantly higher than with the pod experiment. Since the activation of an antioxidant system and the increasing of the proline content helps the plants with stress induced damages, our results indicated that elimination of pods of annual medics before sowing helps seedlings to perform better under drought stress. This data is useful to gain a better understanding of the physiological basis of the changes in drought resistance as well as the crop breeding projects.

we prove that, given any compact metric space X, there exists a residual subset R of H(X), the space of all homeomorphisms on X, such that if $\in$ R has a totally chain-transitive attractor A, then any g sufficiently close to f has a totally chain transitive attractor A$\_{g}$ which is convergent to A in the Hausdorff topology.

Study Design: A prospective, within-group cohort study of 46 patients with chronic low-back pain (CLBP). Purpose: To assess the responsiveness of the Persian Functional Rating Index (PFRI) and to determine the minimal clinically important change (MCIC) of the PFRI in a cohort of patients with CLBP. Overview of Literature: The FRI is an instrument for assessing pain and disability in patients with low-back pain. No study so far has examined the responsiveness of the PFRI. Methods: Forty-six patients with CLBP with a mean age of 50.33±14.28 completed the PFRI, the Persian Roland–Morris Disability Questionnaire (PRMDQ), and a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after 10 physiotherapy sessions. A Global Rating of Change Scale (GRCS) was completed after treatment. Results: The changes in PFRI scores were statistically significant using the paired t -test (p <0.001). The PFRI revealed high effect sizes (range, 0.93–1.82). The PFRI showed significant correlations with the VAS (0.86), the PRMDQ (0.66), and the GRCS (0.45). The area under the receiver operator characteristic curve for the PFRI was good (0.76; 95% confidence interval, 0.56–0.95). The MCIC for PFRI was 10.63 points. Conclusions: The results supported the responsiveness of the PFRI in patients with CLBP and showed the amount of change in PFRI scores perceived as worthwhile by the patients.
