        Hypofractionated radiotherapy for early glottic cancer: a retrospective interim analysis of a single institution

        Purpose: To evaluate the results of hypofractionated radiotherapy (HFX) for early glottic cancer. Materials and Methods: Eighty-five patients with cT1-2N0M0 squamous cell carcinoma of the glottis who had undergone HFX, performed using intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT, n = 66) and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D CRT, n = 19) were analyzed. For all patients, radiotherapy was administered at 60.75 Gy in 27 fractions. Forty-three patients received a simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) of 2.3–2.5 Gy per tumor fraction. Results: The median follow-up duration was 29.9 months (range, 5.5 to 76.5 months). All patients achieved complete remission at a median of 50 days after the end of radiotherapy (range, 14 to 206 days). The 5-year rates for locoregional recurrence-free survival was 88.1%, and the 5-year overall survival rate was 86.2%. T2 stage was a prognostic factor for locoregional recurrencefree survival after radiotherapy (p = 0.002). SIB for the tumor did not affect disease control and survival (p = 0.191 and p = 0.387, respectively). No patients experienced acute or chronic toxicities of ≥grade 3. IMRT significantly decreased the dose administered to the carotid artery as opposed to 3D CRT (V 35 , p < 0.001; V 50 , p < 0.001). Conclusions: Patients treated with HFX achieved acceptable locoregional disease control rates and overall survival rates compared with previous HFX studies. A fraction size of 2.25 Gy provided good disease control regardless of SIB administration.

        A Study on Evaluation of Online Trading System in MRO Supply Business

        Purpose: The findings are expected to be used as basic data for policy establishment for systematic support and upbringing of small and medium-sized suppliers through the current status and characteristics of the industrial structure of the MRO consumable materials industry as a whole and the market trend. Research design, data, and methodology: This survey is conducted in 2019 mainly for companies that operate consumable materials delivery business, and the survey size is about 25,000 in advance (selected) and about 2,000 in the main survey. Using cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling, we derive the visualization of the homogeneous grouping of cases and the relationship structure between them. Results: Based on the attributes of reason for not having an online trading system, it is classified into three and four clusters for industry and company size, respectively, and the feature and pattern of each individual can be are relatively evaluated and visualized. Conclusions: Small and medium-sized consumable material suppliers specialize in products rather than fierce pricing strategies or external expansion strategies and it is more effective to establish a plan to promote the growth of both large and small enterprises through cooperation with large corporations.

        몰입식 초등영어교육에서 교정피드백과 업테이크의 상호관련성 연구

        The purpose of the present study is to analyze the effective types of teacher"s corrective feedback by incidental focus on form teaching methods for English immersion classes, Specifically, it focuses its objective on learner uptake in relation to teachers" corrective feedback in language arts in the primary immersion classroom. In this study, strategies were measured by using class observation and recording. The data concerned was analyzed based on various inter-relationships elements: the frequency and distribution of different feedback types and types of learner uptake. As a result, direct prompts and expansion in FFEs were likely to be effective in associating similar words and building on sentences that would be added by learners, especially in case of vocabulary and sentence learning. The differentiated strategies that the teacher employed could enhance cognitive uptake for lower graders in elementary English immersion school. To produce proficiency and accuracy simultaneously, incidental preemptive focus on form methods can be significant in the immersion classroom.

        A Proteomic Approach to Study msDNA Function in Escherichia coli

        Retron is a prokaryotic genetic element that produces multicopy single-stranded DNA covalently linked to RNA (msDNA) by a reverse transcriptase. It was found that cells producing a large amount of msDNA, rather than those that did not, showed a higher rate of mutation. In order to understand the molecular mechanism connecting msDNA production to the high mutation rate the protein patterns were compared by two dimensional gel electrophoresis. Ten proteins were found to be differentially expressed at levels more than three fold greater in cells with than without msDNA, nine of which were identified by MALDI TOF MS. Eight of the nine identified proteins were repressed in msDNA-producing cells and, surprisingly, most were proteins functioning in the dissimilation of various carbon sources. One protein was induced four fold greater in the msDNA producing cells and was identified as a 30S ribosomal protein S2 involved in the regulation of translation. The molecular mechanism underlying the elevated mutation in msDNA-producing cell still remains elusive.

        Analysing Spatial Pattern of Fire Factor using Text Mining

        The objective of this research is to realize and verify a model that collects informal data of places prone to big and small fire accidents, from carelessness on the Web based on text mining and to present a meaning through processing and spatial analysis of the collected data. To do this, with the assumption that urban fire accidents and spatial pattern are related, spatial data required for supervision and prevention of urban fire accidents were collected, constructed and analyzed based on the scattered data. In addition, the spatial patterns for prevention and response actions for urban fire accidents using GIS analytic technique on Gangnam-gu region were studied to adduce a conclusion.

        Genomic and metatranscriptomic analyses of <i>Weissella koreensis</i> reveal its metabolic and fermentative features during kimchi fermentation

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The genomic and metabolic features of <I>Weissella koreensis</I>, one of the major lactic acid bacteria in kimchi, were investigated through genomic, metabolic, and transcriptomic analyses for the genomes of strains KCTC 3621<SUP>T</SUP>, KACC 15510, and WiKim0080. <I>W. koreensis</I> strains were intrinsically vancomycin-resistant and harbored potential hemolysin genes that were actively transcribed although no hemolysin activity was detected. KEGG and reconstructed fermentative metabolic pathways displayed that <I>W. koreensis</I> strains commonly employ the heterolactic pathway to produce <SMALL>D</SMALL>-lactate, ethanol, acetate, CO<SUB>2</SUB>, <SMALL>D</SMALL>-sorbitol, thiamine, and folate from various carbohydrates including <SMALL>D</SMALL>-glucose, <SMALL>D</SMALL>-mannose, <SMALL>D</SMALL>-lactose, <SMALL>L</SMALL>-malate, <SMALL>D</SMALL>-xylose, <SMALL>L</SMALL>-arabinose, <SMALL>D</SMALL>-ribose, <I>N</I>-acetyl-glucosamine, and gluconate, and strains KCTC 3621<SUP>T</SUP> and WiKim0080 additionally have metabolic pathways of <SMALL>D</SMALL>-galacturonate and <SMALL>D</SMALL>-glucoronate. Phenotypic analyses showed that all strains did not ferment <SMALL>D</SMALL>-galactose, probably due to the lack of <SMALL>D</SMALL>-galactose transporting system, and strains KCTC 3621<SUP>T</SUP> and WiKim0080 fermented <SMALL>D</SMALL>-fructose, indicating the presence of <SMALL>D</SMALL>-fructose transporting system. Fermentative features of <I>W. koreensis</I> were investigated through kimchi transcriptional analysis, suggesting that <I>W. koreensis</I> is mainly responsible for kimchi fermentation with the production of various fermentative metabolites during late fermentation period.       • Selective Deposition of Cobalt Oxide Thin Films via H<sub>2</sub>O-Vapor-Catalyzed Reaction

        <P>In this study, we developed a method for realizing the selective deposition of CoO thin films using Co(hfac)(2) as a cobalt precursor and H2O vapor as a catalyst gas. Deposition on an insulator substrate can be controlled by varying the H2O flow rate. In order to study the gas-phase reaction, the concentration of generated particle was investigated as a function of the deposition temperature using an in-situ particle measurement system such as fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) to analyze the decomposition behavior of precursor and particle beam mass spectrometry (PBMS) to analyze the relationship between the precursor decomposition and the particle nucleation. Process temperature was controlled from 573 to 723 K with 50 K intervals. A gas cell was designed to analyze the decomposed precursor by FT-IR system, and its exhaust was connected with PBMS inlet to collect particles. Field-effect scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements were carried out to determine the film properties and its effects of H2O on catalytic reactions.</P>
