Ruptured mirror DACA aneurysm: A rare case report and review of literature

Deepak Kumar Singh,Prevesh Kumar Sharma,Arun Kumar Singh,Vipin Kumar Chand 대한뇌혈관외과학회 2023 Journal of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neuros Vol.25 No.3

Bilateral distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) aneurysms also called “kissing aneurysms” or “mirror aneurysm” are extremely rare, accounting for only 0.2% of all intracranial aneurysms. There have only been a few examples of mirror DACA aneurysms reported in the literature. Here, we report a rare case of mirror DACA aneurysm in a middle aged female with its successful clipping. Patient was admitted with severe headache and altered sensorium. Computed tomography (CT) head was suggestive of anterior inter-hemispheric hematoma. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) was done which was suggestive of two distal anterior cerebral artery aneurysms located at same anatomical position. It was treated through microsurgical clipping. Mirror image DACA aneurysms are rare occurrence. All patients with ruptured DACA aneurysms should have angiography with 3D reconstruction studies. This aids in determining the aneurysm’s morphology and planning treatment accordingly.

Diversity and Abundance of Pollinators Affecting Seed Production in Radish (Raphanus sativa)

Deepak Kumar Sharma,Dharam Pal Abrol 한국양봉학회 2023 韓國養蜂學會誌 Vol.38 No.4

Investigations were conducted to determine the impact of insect pollinators affecting seed production in Radish. Observations revealed that honey bees Apis cerana, A. mellifera, A. dorsata, A. florea were the important flower visitors and comprised more than 83 per cent of the flower visiting insects. Of all the honeybees, A. cerana was the most abundant followed by A. mellifera>A. dorsata>A. florea. The activity of honeybees increased with temperature and sunshine and decreased with relative humidity, wind speed, rainfall and evaporation. The influence of flowering seasonality had significant effect on population dynamics of bees as maximum population of all the bee species were observed after 12 days of flowering. Open pollination was found to be superior to both hand pollination and self pollination treatments. The number of siliquae produced, 1000 seed weight, seed yield per plant, and seed germination (%) was significantly higher in bee pollinated plots compared to open pollination and self pollination. Open pollination and hand pollination resulted in 118 and 76 per cent enhanced seed yield in radish as compared to control.

Synthesis and characterization of a new nanocomposite cation exchanger polyacrylamide Ce(IV) silicophosphate: Photocatalytic and antimicrobial applications

Deepak Pathania,Gaurav Sharma,Mu. Naushad,Amit Kumar 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.5

A nanocomposite cation exchanger polyacrylamide Ce(IV) silicophosphate (PAM–CSP)was prepared via sol–gel method. The ion exchange capacity of nanocomposite PAM–CSP was found better (1.42 mequiv. g-1) than its inorganic counterpart Ce(IV) silicophosphate (CSP, 0.84 mequiv. g-1). The material was characterized using different techniques such as FTIR, XRD, SEM and TEM. The various physiochemical properties such as pH titration, elution concentration and elution behavior studies of PAM–CSP were studied. The pH titration studies clearly indicated the bifunctional nature of nanocomposite ion exchanger. The effect of temperature on the ion exchange capacity of the material was also investigated. The photocatalytic activity of PAM–CSP was investigated for the degradation of methylene blue dye which revealed that 83.40% of MB was degraded in 5 h. The antimicrobial activities of PAM–CSP were also ascertained against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Polyacrylamide@Zr(IV) vanadophosphate nanocomposite: Ion exchange properties, antibacterial activity, and photocatalytic behavior

Gaurav Sharma,Amit Kumar,Mu. Naushad,Deepak Pathania,Mika Sillanpaa 한국공업화학회 2016 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.33 No.-

Polyacrylamide Zr(IV) vanadophosphate (PAM/ZVP) nanocomposite was synthesized via simple sol–gelmethod. The synthesized PAM/ZVP nanocomposite was studied for its ion exchange properties. Thenanocomposite showed higher ion exchange capacity (IEC) compared to its inorganic counterpart Zr(IV)vanadophosphate (ZVP). The nanocomposite was well characterized using various techniques viz.-TEM,SEM, XRD, and FTIR. The PAM/ZVP showed promising photocatalytic nature for degradation of Congo reddye under sunlight. The enhanced dye remediation was observed as material behaved as adsorbent andphotocatalyst simultaneously under coupled conditions in dye removal experiments. Thus, PAM/ZVP is aprobable superior hybrid photo catalyst for dye waste treatment

A comparative study between light transmission aggregometry and flow cytometric platelet aggregation test for the identification of platelet function defects in patients with bleeding

        Praveen Sharma,Man Updesh Singh Sachdeva,Narender Kumar,Sunil Bose,Parveen Bose,Varun Uppal,Pankaj Malhotra,Deepak Bansal,Neelam Varma,Jasmina Ahluwalia 대한혈액학회 2021 Blood Research Vol.56 No.2

Background Platelet aggregation studies using conventional light transmission aggregometry (LTA) have several disadvantages and require strict pre-analytical measures for reliable results. We aimed to examine the utility of flow cytometric platelet aggregation (FCA) assay in detecting platelet function defects (PFDs) in patients with a history of bleeding symptoms. Methods Sixty-four participants (24 patients and 40 healthy controls) were included in this study. LTA and FCA assay were performed simultaneously in patients and healthy controls. In the FCA assay, two portions of platelets from the same individual were labeled separately with CD31-FITC and CD31-PE. After mixing and stimulation with agonists, the double- colored platelet aggregates were visualized using a flow cytometer. The results generated using the two techniques were compared and correlated. Results The patients’ median age was 17 years (range, 3‒72 yr) with a male-to-female ratio of 1:1.7. There was substantial agreement between LTA and FCA assay in detecting a PFD (=0.792). Four patients showing a Glanzmann thrombasthenia-like pattern on LTA exhibited an abnormal FCA. A functional defect in collagen binding was detected on the FCA assay conducted in two immune thrombocytopenic patients with severe bleeding. Conclusion FCA assay can be used to identify functional defects in platelets, with potential applications in thrombocytopenic individuals. It also facilitates the diagnosis of inherited bleeding disorders with platelet defects.

Vibration upshot of operating mechanical sewing machine

        Prakash Kumar Yadav,Ram Lochan Yadav,Deepak Sharma,Dev Kumar Shah,Niraj Khatri Sapkota,Dilip Thakur,Nirmala Limbu,Md Nazrul Islam 대한직업환경의학회 2017 대한직업환경의학회지 Vol.29 No.-

Background: Most of the people associated with tailoring occupation in Nepal are still using mechanical sewing machine as an alternative of new technology for tailoring. Common peroneal nerves of both right and left legs are exposed to strenuous and chronic stress exerted by vibration and paddling of mechanical sewing machine. Methods: The study included 30 healthy male tailors and 30 healthy male individuals. Anthropometric variables as well as cardio respiratory variables were determined for each subject. Standard Nerve Conduction Techniques using constant measured distances were applied to evaluate common peroneal nerve (motor) in both legs of each individual. Data were analyzed and compared between study and control groups using Man Whitney U test setting the significance level p ≤ 0.05. Results: Anthropometric and cardio respiratory variables were not significantly altered between the study and control groups. The Compound muscle action potential (CMAP) latency of common peroneal nerves of both right [(11.29 ± 1.25 vs. 10.03 ± 1.37), P < 0.001] and left [(11.28 ± 1.38 vs. 10.05 ± 1.37), P < 0.01] legs was found to be significantly prolonged in study group as compared to control group. The Amp-CMAP of common peroneal nerves of both right [(4.57 ± 1.21 vs. 6.22 ± 1.72), P < 0.001] and left [(4.31 ± 1.55 vs. 6.25 ± 1.70), P < 0.001] legs was found significantly reduced in study group as compared to control group. Similarly, the motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) of common peroneal nerves of both right [(43.72 ± 3.25 vs. 47.49 ± 4.17), P < 0.001] and left [(42.51 ± 3.82 vs. 46.76 ± 4.51), P < 0.001] legs was also found to be significantly reduced in study group in comparison to control group. Conclusion: Operating mechanical sewing machine by paddling chronically and arduously could have attributed to abnormal nerve conduction study parameters due to vibration effect of the machine on right and left common peroneal nerves. The results of present study follow the trend towards presymptomatic or asymptomatic neuropathy similar to subclinical neuropathy.

Antibacterial potential of a small peptide from Bacillus sp. RPT-0001 and its capping for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles

        Supriya Deepak Patil,Rajnikant Sharma,Tapas Bhattacharyya,Piyush Kumar,Manasi Gupta,Bhupinder Singh Chaddha,Naveen Kumar Navani,Ranjana Pathania 한국미생물학회 2015 The journal of microbiology Vol.53 No.9

Infirmity and death from diseases caused by unsafe food are a continual hazard to communal health safety and socio-economic growth throughout the world. Chemical preservatives are associated with health hazards and toxicity issues. In the study reported here, 200 soil isolates from Western Himalayan region in India were screened for potential antibacterial activity against food-borne pathogens. This study led to the isolation of a bacterial strain belonging to the Genus Bacillus and was designated as RPT-0001. The associated antibacterial activity was sensitive to pronase E treatment. Bioassay-guided fractionation using reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) led to isolation of the antibacterial peptide designated as RPT-0001. The molecular weight of RPT-0001 was determined by electro- spray ionization mass spectroscopy (ESI-MS) as 276.9 Da. RPT-0001 was inhibitory to both Gram-negative and Grampositive food-borne bacteria tested. The characteristics of RPT-0001 do not match with that of any other known antibacterial peptides produced by Bacillus sp. or related genera. Purified RPT-0001 was successfully used in synthesis of silver nanoparticles effective against food-borne pathogenic bacteria. The antibacterial peptide and silver nanoparticles synthesized utilizing it as a capping and reducing agent hold promising potential in food preservation, in packaging material and as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of foodborne infections.

      • Clinicoepidemiological Profile and Prognostic Factors in Neurotuberculosis in Children

        Vikas Sharma,Krishnan Rajeshwari,Deepak Kumar,Garima Gupta 대한소아신경학회 2023 대한소아신경학회지 Vol.31 No.2

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the clinicoepidemiological profile and prognostic factors in children with neurotuberculosis. Methods: An observational study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital on 50 children diagnosed with neurotuberculosis. The demographic profile, clinical details, and all investigations were recorded on a predetermined form and datasheet for analysis, and disability severity was graded using the modified Rankin Scale. Results: Fifty patients were enrolled (male-to-female ratio, 1.08:1). Younger children (1 to 3 years) were more commonly affected. Most patients were malnourished, and only 58% had been immunized with the Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccine. Fever was the most common symptom (96%) followed by headache, altered consciousness, vomiting, seizures, and abnormal posture. On cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis, 87% of patients showed pleocytosis with lymphocytic predominance. More than 80% of patients had CSF protein levels >100 mg/dL and CSF glucose levels <60 mg/dL. Common findings on neuroimaging were hydrocephalus (76%), basal meningeal enhancement (60%), basal exudates (52%), and parenchymal infarcts (32%). We noted a mortality rate of 40%, of whom 87.5% had modified British Medical Research Council (BMRC) stage 3 tubercular meningitis (TBM). All patients who survived stage 3 TBM had a severe disability, and over 50% of patients with stage 2 TBM had moderate to severe disabilities. Conclusion: Young age, lower socioeconomic status, BMRC stages 2 and 3, abnormal posture, hydrocephalus, and the presence of basal exudates were associated with poor outcomes. High suspicion is needed for early diagnosis and prevention of disability and mortality.
