        Exploration of Machine Learning to Predict Hot Ductility of Cast Steel from Chemical Composition and Thermal Conditions

        This study explores the use of machine learning (ML) as a data-driven approach to estimate hot ductility of cast steel fromliterature data. Four ML algorithms were used to predict hot ductility by considering elemental composition and thermalconditions. Experimentally-measured reduction of area (RA) values were converted to a low-temperature limit, centertemperature,and high-temperature limit, which were represented as Gaussian curves. The prediction accuracy of the fourML models was evaluated using RMSE for these three output variables. In a case study of three steels that had differentcontents of alloying elements, only the Neural-net model predicted the RA trough more accurately in all cases. These resultsdemonstrate the utility of ML models to predict hot ductility of cast steels.

        엔지니어링 프로젝트 관리를 위한 실행공동체 기반의 조직간 협업모형 개발

        협업의 중요성은 조직 내에서뿐만 아니라 최근에는 조직 간에서 더욱 강조되고 있다. 많은 회사들이 파트너들과 함께 전략적인 목표를 달성하기 위해서 하나의 프로젝트에서 다양한 형태의 협업을 하고 있다. 현대 사회에서 조직 간의 협업이 활성화되지 않는다면, 기술 및 지식의 접근 및 습득에 제한적이게 되고 조직 간 협업을 통한 혁신을 기대하기는 어렵다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 엔지니어링 프로젝트를 효과적으로 관리할 수 있는 실행공동체 기반의 조직간 협업모형을 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 조직간 협업모형은 실행공동체를 기반으로 지식관리와 혁신관리 두 개의 축으로 구성되어 있으며, 각각의 활동은 엔지니어링 프로젝트 전체 수명주기를 포함한다. 실행공동체, 지식관리, 혁신관리 활동들 간의 관계는 전문가 설문조사를 수행하여 파악하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 모형을 실제 현장에 적용하여 사례 연구를 수행하였다. 마지막으로 설문조사를 통해서 제안된 연구모형의 효과성을 검증하였다. 실행공동체 기반의 협업모형은 엔지니어링 프로젝트의 성공적인 수행을 지원할 뿐만 아니라 조직의 성과와 역량을 향상시켜 줄 것으로 기대된다. The importance of collaboration has long been emphasized not only within an organization but also among organizations. Many companies collaborate on a project with partners for the accomplishment of strategic goals. Without collaborations, access to partner’s knowledge or skill would probably be restricted and innovation among organizations could not be realized. However, a research on project management has focused on the tools of management instead of making an effort to increase collaboration between the owners and contractor organizations during the project. The main objective of this paper is to present an inter-organizational collaboration model based on CoP to support successful implementation of engineering projects. The proposed model demonstrates that project management with collaboration is critically essential for not only simple achieving the success of engineering projects, but also reaching strategic goals that eventually enrich the organization’s overall performance and capability. And then a case study was performed with a real company to apply this model. Finally, the effect of the proposed model was validated by the user test.

        플랜트 O&M을 위한 기자재 조달방식 의사결정에 관한 연구 - 기술전략 관점을 중심으로 -

        In the plant industry, the share of equipment accounts for 45 ~ 75%, which is very high. It is a traditional plant centered on processes and reactions like petroleum and chemical plants. Renewable energy generation plants such as wind power generation and solar power generation are equipment-centric plants. Equipment-centric plants are very important not only in the EPC phase but also in the operation and management phase. The procurement of equipment for plant operation and management can be divided into make and buy. Make is a method of producing equipment itself, and buy is a method of procuring equipment from the outside. The procurement method of the equipment directly affects the plant operation and management cost. In this study, the decision making of equipment procurement method for plant operation and management is defined as 4 phase. Each phase is selection of procurement decision-making objects, technology strategy perspective, finance perspective, and production perspective. In detail, we defined selection process of procurement decision-making objects and technology strategy perspective process. We will contribute to the enhancement of the competitiveness of the plant operation and management area by carrying out researches on the process and application examples of financial and production perspectives in the future.

        용어 한류(韓流)의 기원

        이 글의 목적은 ‘누가, 언제, 어디서’, 한류(韓流)를 사용하기 시작했는지에 대한 답을 제공하는 것이다. 용어 한류(韓流)가 등장한 지 20년이 되었지만, 기원의 정확한 정보 부재로 후속 연구자와 대중은 혼란을 겪고 있다. 이 상황의 해결을 위해 이 연구는 다섯 가지 절차로 용어 한류(韓流)의 기원을 탐구했다. 첫째, 각 인터넷 백과사전 간 비일관성이 나타나는 원인을 분석했다. 둘째, 선행연구의 오류와 그 원인을 분석했다. 셋째, 가장 이른 시기를 주장하는 연구자를 인터뷰해 1차 자료를 요청했다. 넷째, 답변의 진위 확인을 위해 1954∼1999년 대만에서 발행된 일간지를 수집했다. 다섯째, 이 중 대중문화와 경제 현상용어 한류(韓流)가 기재된 일간지 기사를 분류하여 최초 등장사례를 발췌했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대중문화 용어 한류(韓流)는 1998년 12월 17일 대만 『연합만보(聯合晩報)』에서 기원했다. 둘째, 경제 현상 용어 한류(韓流)는 1997년 12월 12일 대만 『중국시보(中國時報)』에서 기원했다. 이 연구결과는 독자의 정확한 이해를 돕고 한류(韓流) 연구의 기초토대를 정립한 것에 의미를 둔다. 그러나 이 연구는 용어 한류(韓流)가 ‘어떻게, 왜’ 등장했는지를 밝히지 않았다. 이는 후속연구에서 다룬다. The purpose of this article is to provide answers on ‘who, when, where’ to started using Hallyu. The term Hallyu has been around for 20 years, but subsequent researchers and the public are confused by the lack of accurate information on beginning. To solve this situation, this study explored the beginning of the term Hallyu through five procedures. First, we analyzed the cause of inconsistency between each Internet encyclopedia. Second, we analyzed the errors and causes of the previous research. Third, we interviewed a researcher who argued the earliest time, and asked for the first data. Fourth, in order to confirm the authenticity of the answer, we collected daily newspapers published in Taiwan from 1954 to 1999. Fifth, among these, we classified articles described the term Hallyu as popular culture and economic phenomenon, and extracted the first appearance cases. As a result, this article asserts the following. First, the term Hallyu in Korean pop culture began with an article on December 17, 1998, United Evening News in Taiwan. Second, as the term of economic phenomenon, the Hallyu appeared on December 12, 1997 in the article of China Times in taiwan. The results of this study are meant to help the understanding of the readers and to establish the foundation of the Hallyu research. However, this study did not reveal ‘how, why’ the term Hallyu appeared. This is covered in a subsequent study.

        상지 보조 소프트로봇의 의복화를 위한 디자인 개발 프로세스

        This study proposes a design process for an upper limb assistive wearable soft robot that will enable the development of a clothing product for an upper limb assistive soft robot. A soft robot made of a flexible and soft material that compensates for the shortcomings of existing upper limb muscle strength assistive devices is being developed. Consequently, a clothing process of the upper limb assistive soft robot is required to increase the possibility of wearing such a device. The design process of the upper limb auxiliary soft robot is presented as follows. User analysis and required performance deduction-Soft robot design-upper limb assistive wearable soft robot prototype design and production-evaluation. After designing the clothing according to the design process, the design was revised and supplemented repeatedly according to the results of the clothing evaluation. In the post-production evaluation stage, the first and second prototypes were attached to actual subjects, and the second prototype showed better results. The developed soft robot evaluated if the functionality as a clothing function and the functionality as the utility of the device were harmonized. The convergence study utilized a process of reducing friction conducted through an understanding and cooperation between research fields. The results of this study can be used as basic data to establish the direction of prototype development in fusion research.

      • Strategic Make or Buy Decision Methodology for Achieving Competitive Advantage

        Make or Buy decision is becoming increasingly important as firms are globalized with branch plants around the world. In most cases, the decision making mainly depends on the cost analysis in terms that how we can make the products cheaper. However, for gaining company’s future compatibility, it is needed to consider not only cost aspect but also technology aspect and product operation ability from a company view. In this sense, previous researches mentioned importance and factors of the technological and operational aspect theoretically, but they are insufficient to apply the Make or Buy decision process in practice. Therefore, this paper describes a systematic methodology for Make or Buy decision to achieve company’s competitive advantage. The proposed methodology consists of three perspectives: technological, financial, and operational perspective. A case study of Company A, home appliance manufacturer, is performed to prove the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
