        Expression profiles of circular RNAs in sheep skeletal muscle

        Objective: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a newfound class of non-coding RNA in animals and plants. Recent studies have revealed that circRNAs play important roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, autophagy and apoptosis during development. However, there are few reports about muscle development-related circRNAs in livestock. Methods: RNA sequencing analysis was employed to identify and annotate circRNAs from longissimus dorsi of sheep. Reverse transcription followed by real-time quantitative (q) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis verified the presence of these circRNAs. Targetscan7.0 and miRanda were used to analyse the interaction of circRNA-microRNA (miRNA). To investigate the function of circRNAs, an experiment was conducted to perform enrichment analysis hosting genes of circRNAs using gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathways. Results: About 75.5 million sequences were obtained from RNA libraries of sheep skeletal muscle. These sequences were mapped to 729 genes in the sheep reference genome. We identified 886 circRNAs, including numerous circular intronic RNAs and exonic circRNAs. Reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) and DNA sequencing analysis confirmed the presence of several circRNAs. Real-Time RT-PCR analysis exhibited resistance of sheep circRNAs to RNase R digestion. We found that many circRNAs interacted with muscle-specific miRNAs involved in growth and development of muscle, especially circ776. The GO and KEGG enrichment analysis showed that hosting genes of circRNAs was involved in muscle cell development and signaling pathway. Conclusion: The study provides comprehensive expression profiles of circRNAs in sheep skeletal muscle. Our study offers a large number of circRNAs to facilitate a better understanding of their roles in muscle growth. Meanwhile, we suggested that circ776 could be analyzed in future study.

        Clinicopathologic and Prognostic Significance of the Zinc Finger of the Cerebellum Family in Invasive Breast Cancer

        Purpose: Five members of the zinc finger of the cerebellum (ZIC) family—ZIC1, ZIC2, ZIC3, ZIC4, and ZIC5—have been shown to be involved in various carcinomas. Here, we aimed to explore the clinicopathologic and prognostic roles of ZIC family members in invasive breast cancer patients using immunohistochemical analysis, western blotting analysis, and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Methods: A total of 241 female invasive breast cancer patients who underwent radical mastectomy between 2009 and 2011 were enrolled. ZIC proteins in 241 pairs of breast tumors and corresponding normal tissues were investigated using immunohistochemistry and the clinicopathologic roles of proteins were analyzed using Pearson’s chi-square test. Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression analysis were also used to analyze the prognostic value of the ZIC proteins. In addition, 12 pairs of fresh-frozen breast tumors and matched normal tissues were used in the western blotting analysis and RT-qPCR. Results: Only ZIC1 expression in normal tissues was obviously higher than that in tumors (p<0.001). On multivariate analysis, ZIC1 expression (in overall survival analysis: hazard ratio [HR], 0.405, 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.233–0.702, p=0.001; in disease-free survival analysis: HR, 0.395, 95% CI, 0.234–0.669, p=0.001) was identified as a prognostic indicator of invasive breast cancer. Conclusion: ZIC1, but not the other proteins, was obviously decreased in breast tumors and associated with clinicopathologic factors. Thus, ZIC1 might be a novel indicator to predict the overall and disease-free survival of invasive breast cancer patients.

        PRECONDITIONING FOR THE p-VERSION BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD IN THREE DIMENSIONS WITH TRIANGULAR ELEMENTS

        A preconditioning algorithm is developed in this paper for the iterative solution of the linear system of equations resulting from the p-version boundary element approximation of the three dimensional integral equation with hypersingular operators. The preconditioner is derived by first making the nodal and side basis functions locally orthogonal to the element internal bases, and then by decoupling the nodal and side bases from the internal bases. Its implementation consists of solving a global problem on the wire-basket and a series of local problems defined on a single element. Moreover, the condition number of the preconditioned system is shown to be of order $O((1+ln/p)^{7})$. This technique can be applied to discretization with triangular elements and with general basis functions.

        Investigation of Different Conduction States on the Performance of NMOS-Based Power Clamp ESD Device

        This article investigates the eff ects of diff erent gate coupling voltage and gate voltage duration on electro-static discharge (ESD) performance of several NMOS-based power rail protection devices. Through simulation and transmission line pulse (TLP) test, it is found that there are two modes in the conduction process of the main clamping NMOS: channel conduction state and parasitic NPN conduction state. Diff erent gate voltage and duration bring the two conduction states diff erent proportions in the whole working process, which give the device very diff erent robustness. The results show that under the condition of small gate voltage and long duration and the condition of large gate voltage and short duration, the device can achieve optimal performance because the trigger voltage can be reduced, and the parasitic NPN can be turned on in time to release most of the current

        Blind Source Separation of Instantaneous Mixture of Delayed Sources Using High-Order Taylor Approximation

        This paper deals with the problem of blind source separation (BSS), where observed signals are a mixture of delayed sources. In reference to a previous work, when the delay time is small such that the first-order Taylor approximation holds, delayed observations are transformed into an instantaneous mixture of original sources and their derivatives, for which an extended second-order blind identification (SOBI) approach is used to recover sources. Inspired by the results of this previous work, we propose to generalize its first-order Taylor approximation to suit higher-order approximations in the case of a large delay time based on a similar version of its extended SOBI. Compared to SOBI and its extended version for a first-order Taylor approximation, our method is more efficient in terms of separation quality when the delay time is large. Simulation results verify the performance of our approach under different time delays and signal-to-noise ratio conditions, respectively.

      • Research and Application of Supply Chain Performance Evaluation Model from the Perspective of Logistics Service

        With the current development of science and technology, people’s living standards are improving, and the advent of the internet indirectly promotes the development of the logistics industry. In order to ensure smooth and order development of the logistics industry, the paper makes researches and applications on supply chain performance under the perspective of logistics services. The paper firstly interprets the relevant concepts, and combines qualitative and quantitative methods in accordance with the selection principle of supply chain index to establish supply chain performance model. At the same time, taking port logistics service for cases, the paper researches the weight of index through selecting related index in accordance with experts discussion method, establishes model by using network level analysis method, and uses Lingo software for calculation to get the accounted important degree of each index as well as liberal port, international degree, and highway transportation capacity’s vital importance for logistics supply chain performance evaluation model. The second is port regional conditions, relatively unimportant conclusion is cargo handling capacity with each thousand TEU average stay time of the ship handling in port, and relevant measures in accordance with the conclusion are raised.

      • ML-MOEA/SOM : A Manifold-Learning-Based Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithm Via Self-Organizing Maps

        Under mild conditions, it can be induced from the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker condition that the Pareto set, in the decision space, of a continuous Multiobjective Optimization Problems(MOPs) is a piecewise continuous (m 1)  D manifold(where m is the number of objectives). One hand, the traditional Multiobjective Optimization Algorithms(EMOAs) cannot utilize this regularity property; on the other hand, the Regular Model-Based Multiobjective Estimation of Distribution Algorithm(RM-MEDA) only able to build the linear model of decision space using linear modelling algorithm, such as: the local principal component analysis algorithm(Local PCA).Aim at the shortcomings of EMOAs and RM-MEDA, the Manifold-Learning-Based Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithm Via Self-Organizing Maps(ML-MOEA/SOM) is proposed for continuous multiobjective optimization problems. At each generation, first, via Self-Organizing Maps, the proposed algorithm learns such a nonlinear manifold in the decision space; then, new trial solutions is built through expanding the neurons of SOM with random noise; at the end, a nondominated sorting-based selection is used for choosing solutions for the next generation. Systematic experiments have shown that, overall, ML-MOEA/SOM outperforms NSGA-II, and is competitive with RM-MEDA in terms of convergence and diversity, on a set of test instances with variable linkages. We have demonstrated that, compared with NSGA-II and RM-MEDA, via self-Organizing maps, ML-MOEA/SOM can dig nonlinear manifold hidden in the decision space of multiobjective optimization problems.

        Sorption kinetics of sulphate ions on quaternary ammonium-modified rice straw

        Batch sorption experiments with variable concentration of sulphate and temperature were conducted to investigate sorption kinetics of sulphate ions on quaternary ammonium-modified rice straw (QMRS). Kinetic data were discussed with pseudo first- and second-order rate equations and diffusion models. The results showed the sorption equilibrium time is about 20 min and the activated energy Ea is 19.3 kJ/mol. Increase of temperature and initial sulphate concentration favored sorption process. The sorption kinetics followed pseudo second-order rate equation, and the overall rate was determined by film diffusion. Additionally, characterization by 13C NMR and EDS confirmed the presence of quaternary ammonium groups in QMRS.
