RELATIONSHIP-BASED PRODUCT INNOVATIONS: EVIDENCE FROM THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN
Ruey Jer “Bryan” Jean,Daekwan Kim,Daniel C. Bello 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2016 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2016 No.7
Global supply chains offer a range of expertise to suppliers interested in generating innovative new products from their close, working relationships with other firms. However, research on whether and how social capital between firms can be leveraged for innovation is equivocal, conceptualizing little of the underlying processes responsible for mobilizing social capital and yielding mostly contradictory empirical results. This study proposes and tests the intermediate mechanisms of proactive customer orientation and joint learning capability as two distinctive capabilities that may account for the way social capital drives relationship-based radical innovation. The conceptual model posits the social capital-innovation link is neither simple nor direct, and an empirical test on 204 Taiwanese suppliers demonstrates the complexity of the innovation generation process. Largely confirming our conceptualization, two pathways from social capital to innovation are revealed: joint learning capability fully mediates the link while proactive customer orientation’s role is moderated by aspects of the suppliers tie to its international customer. Finally, implications for theory and practice for innovation in global supply chain relationships are drawn.
( Bryane Michael ) 고려대학교 법학연구원 2023 The Asian Business Lawyer Vol.30 No.-
Dr. Bryane Michael is currently an advisor to the Ministry of Finance of a Pacific country and senior fellow at the University of Hong Kong. In his work at the World Bank, OECD, and Morgan Stanley, he advised on some of the newest technologies of the 2000s. He has done his graduate students in economics at Harvard and Oxford, and obtained his law degree from the King's College London. Does financial law shape the competitiveness of an international financial centre? Or does technological change and growth attract the people and assets which turn towns in megalopoli? Hong Kong's bid to dominate the Chinese photovoltaic (solar panel) industry illustrates these issues all too clearly. My analysis traces the way laws on asset and debt securitization have left rival financial centres - like Chicago -- to sell interests in China's still relatively stable solar energy markets. The paper shows the size of the market opportunity and points to several factors that have hampered Hong Kong from developing a more tech-friendly financial law.

This case report presents two patients who underwent fibular strut grafting for complex revisions of previous lumbar spine arthrodeses. A case review of the Electronic Medical Record at the index institution was performed to evaluate the timeline of events of the two patients who underwent fibular strut grafting for complex revisions of previous lumbar spine arthrodesis, including imaging studies, progress notes, and laboratory results. One patient had developed chronic L3 vertebral body osteomyelitis from a prior fibular allograft and instrumentation placed for a traumatic burst fracture. The second patient had a severe scoliosis recalcitrant to prior arthrodeses in the context of Marfan syndrome and a persistent L4-5 pseudarthrosis. Both patients underwent free vascularized fibular autograft revision arthrodeses. At most recent long-term follow-up, both patients had improved clinically and neither had required further revision. The use of free vascularized fibular grafting is an excellent option for a variety of spinal indications, and these two reports indicate that the technology may have an indication for use after multiple failed surgeries for osteomyelitis or correction of a multi-level large spinal deformity secondary to Marfan syndrome.
O Justice, where art thou: The search for justice for Comfort women
( Bryan Rhie ) 고려대학교 법학연구원 2012 Korea University Law Review Vol.11 No.-
This paper explores whether any legal options still exist for comfort women who were forced into sex labor by the Japanese army during Japan`s imperialism. Finding that lawsuits filed in Japan, United States, and international courts have not adequately satisfied the demands of the comfort women for an official apology from the Japanese government and compensation for the suffering that they endured at the hands of the Japanese army, this paper will argue that the most favorable option for comfort women is filing a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the basis of an ongoing harm from Japan`s failure to provide a remedy for their crimes against humanity towards comfort women. While criminal convictions from the ICC will not require the Japanese government to issue a formal government or compensate the few remaining comfort women, the prospect of international disgrace from such legally binding convictions may be enough to compel the Japanese National Diet to at least issue a formal apology to comfort women.
The Present Condition and Outlook of Hydrogen Industry in Alberta, Canada

Based on Korea’s Hydrogen Economy Activation Roadmap, an annual supply of 5.26 million tonnes of hydrogen is required by 2040. But if the hydrogen production from byproduct, extraction, and electrolysis of water is not able to meet the target which is 50% of total production, it would be necessary to increase the portion of imported hydrogen. Therefore, it is essential to secure a variety of sources for overseas production. In this technical report, hydrogen production/transportation policies, current condition, and future prospects of Canada, a major supply candidate, is examined and an example of blue hydrogen project which is considered the most realistic hydrogen supply method is introduced.
Clinical Evaluation of a Patient With Symptoms of Colonic or Anorectal Motility Disorders
( Bryan Curtin ),( Enoe Jimenez ),( Satish S C Rao ) 대한소화기기능성질환·운동학회(구 대한소화관운동학회) 2020 Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (JNM Vol.26 No.4
Constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, fecal incontinence, abdominal pain, and anorectal pain are problems that affect 40% of the population. They commonly present with overlapping symptoms indicating that their pathophysiology affects multiple segments of the gut as well as brain and gut interactions. Clinically, although some conditions are readily recognized, dyssynergic defecation, fecal incontinence, and anorectal pain are often missed or misdiagnosed. Consequently, the assessment of lower gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with suspected colonic or anorectal motility disorder(s) remains challenging for most clinicians. A detailed history, use of the Bristol stool form scale, prospective stool diaries, ideally through a phone App, digital rectal examination, and judicious use of complementary diagnostic tests are essential. Additionally, it is important to evaluate the impact of these problems on quality of life and psychosocial issues, because they are intricately linked with these disorders. The Rome IV diagnostic questionnaire for functional gastrointestinal disorders can provide additional information often missed during history taking. Here, we discuss a systematic approach for the clinical evaluation of patients with suspected lower gastrointestinal problems, grouped under 4 common diagnostic categories. We describe how to take a detailed history, perform meticulous digital rectal examination, and use validated tools to supplement clinical evaluation, including assessments of quality of life and scoring systems for disease severity and digital Apps. These tools could facilitate a comprehensive plan for clinical management including diagnostic tests, and translate the patients’ complaints into definable, diagnostic categories.
