Advanced braking algorithm for robust longitudinal risk management

<P>This paper describes an advanced braking algorithm for robust longitudinal risk management to prevent or mitigate rear-end collisions. Since the proposed safety system works in conjunction with a human driver, the longitudinal safety system must be acceptable to the driver. The key to achieving this is to ensure that control signals are given at the appropriate time. In order to construct an suitable control system, a new longitudinal safety index was developed by using the time to collision and the warning index, which are well-known safety parameters in longitudinal safety control. The clearance and the relative velocity constitute essential signals for safety monitoring in longitudinal safety control. These measured sensor signals include the uncertainty in the measurement noise. To design a robust safety monitoring and control mode decision, information consisting of fusion of the measurement signals was obtained. In addition, an expected error range of the proposed safety index from the measurement noise can be defined from the covariance matrix of the Kalman filter and the deviation of the function of the new longitudinal safety index. The control performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated by analysis of the simulation results. From this analysis, it can be concluded that the proposed advanced braking algorithm can substantially enhance the longitudinal safety and can guarantee a robust performance with respect to the sensor uncertainty.</P>

본 연구는 운동선수들의 부상불안 개념구조를 탐색하고, 규명된 부상불안 개념구조를 바탕으로 스포츠 부상불안 척도를 개발한 후 척도의 타당도를 검증하는 데에 목적이 있다. 2019년 대한체육회에 등록되어있는 서울·경기지역의 고등학생과 대학생 운동선수를 각 연구별 187명(연구1), 587명(연구2), 478명(연구3)을 대상으로 자료수집 및 분석하였다. 분석결과 연구 1 스포츠 부상불안 개념으로 일반영역 3개, 세부영역 11개로 분류되었다. 연구 2 탐색된 개념구조를 바탕으로 문항 제작 및 예비조사를 실시해 총 28개의 문항이 나왔으며, 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 다차원으로 구성된 총 2요인 11개 문항으로 개발되었다. 연구 3 개발된 스포츠 부상불안 척도는 최종적으로 2요인 10문항이 도출되었으며, 요인구조의 동일성을 측정하여 적합한 수치가 나타나 고등학생과 대학생 모든 집단에 스포츠 부상불안 척도를 공통적으로 활용할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 스포츠 부상불안 척도 개발을 통해 선수들의 부상에 대한 불안을 파악하여 부정적인 원인을 예방하는데 기여할 것이며, 부상으로 인한 심리적 어려움을 극복할 수 있도록 긍정적인 도움이 됨으로써 선수들의 개인 기량 및 경기력 향상을 도모할 것으로 판단된다. The purpose of this study was to explore the conceptual structure of sport injury anxiety, and develop the Korean version of sport injury anxiety scale (KSIAS: Korea Sport Injury Anxiety Scale). Data were collected from 187(Study1), 587(Study2), 478(Study3) participants who registered in highschool and college athletes participating team sports. Study 1 One hundred eighty seven highschool and college athletes participating team sports completed the open questionnaire. The conceptual structures were identified as three general concepts and eleven specific concepts. Study 2 A preliminary study and questionnaire generation were performed based on the above explored conceptual structure, and the total of 28 questions were delivered initially. Then, after the discussions with experts, a scale of 2 factor 11 questions was developed with an exploratory factor analysis. Study 3 the validity of the scale was examined by confirmatory factor analysis with the data. The results showed the factor structure is properly organized. Thus, 1 question was deleted for acceptable appropriateness resulting 10 total questions (5 cognitive, 5 physical). Finally, the identity of factor structure was acceptable suggesting the scale can be used for both highschool and college athletes. Development of sport injury anxiety scale can help prevent negative psychological influences by identifying the consequences of injury. This study will guide athletes to better conquest with an injury and to obtain optimal performance.

In a centrifugal pump, due to its complicated geometry and flow phenomena, an accurate prediction of flow features is a challenging task. In the present study, large eddy simulation is performed to investigate the flow in a centrifugal pump including the impeller and the volute. A dynamic global model (Lee et al., 2010) is used for a subgrid-scale model, and an immersed boundary method is adopted in a non-inertial reference frame (Kim & Choi, 2006) to impose the no-slip boundary condition on stationary and rotating surfaces. The pump performances computed are in good agreements with those by experiments. The instantaneous flow fields indicate that recirculation zones are generated on the pressure and suction surfaces of impeller blades and near the volute tongue. Also, notable amounts of backflow and leakage flow are observed near the impeller outlet and the volute casing.
A Light-Weight AES Design using LFSR-based S-Box for IoT Applications

This paper presents a novel light-weight AES architecture based on linear feedback shift register (LFSR). Since the traditional substitution-box (S-box) of the AES architecture consumes a large amount of hardware resources, we propose LFSR-based S-box and inverse S-box designs to reduce the hardware overheads significantly. In addition, we replace the conventional AES key scheduler with the LFSR-based round key generator to improve the hardware efficiency further. When implemented in a 32-nm CMOS technology, the proposed designs improve the area, delay, power, and energy by 57.4%, 64.3%, 30.1%, and 75% in the AES-128, 52.2%, 12.5%, 21.9%, and 31.7% in the AES-192, and 54.8%, 5.2%, 23.4%, and 27.4% in the AES-256, respectively, when compared to the traditional S-box based AES architecture. In addition, a joint analysis of our designs in terms of area, delay, and energy shows that the proposed AES designs enhance the area-delay product (ADP) and energy-delay product (EDP) by up to 84.7% and 82.5%, respectively, compared to the traditional design.

Load variations reduce the lifespan of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). To analyze the impact of load variations on durability of PEFCs, two stacks were built and operated continuously for 400 hours, one under load variations and the other under constant current condition with the same energy output. Using the example model provided by Mathworks, we obtained load variation data for the experiments. The performance curves were measured every 100 hours and analyzed by current interruption method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The degradation comparison shows a much larger decrease in performance under the load variation. The activation resistance, electrical resistance, and mass transfer resistance are all found to increase more.

This paper presents an integrated driving path estimation algorithm for adaptive cruise control system and advanced emergency braking system using multi-sensor fusion. This algorithm is developed to predict the ego-vehicle’s path accurately and to improve the performance of primary target detection using the predicted path of the ego-vehicle. The path prediction consists of two prediction process; vehicle states based prediction and vision data based prediction. For application to dynamic maneuvering situations, the driving mode index which allows a detection of the driver maneuver intention is proposed. In accordance with the driving mode, the two types of driving path information are integrated finally. The proposed driving path estimation algorithm has been investigated via closed-loop simulation. It has been shown that the proposed driving path estimation algorithm enhance the capabilities of adaptive cruise control and advanced emergency braking system functions by providing the ego-vehicle’s path accurately, especially in dynamic maneuvering situation.

Burkholderia pyrrocinia CAB08106-4 has antibacterial efficacy against garlic black rot mycosis caused by Sclereotium cepivorum and Sclereotium sp. It is an environmentally friendly microbial product for the management and prevention of various plant pathogens including scarreotium cepivorum and Sclereotium sp. The purpose of this study is to evaluate Burkholderia pyrrocinia CAB08106-4 against local irritation and skin sensitization that develops in the skin and mucosa. In skin and eye irritation test, test substance was administered to the skin and eye of NewZealand White rabbits. Skin irritation test was performed for 72 hours and eye irritation test was performed for 7 days. Body weights were measured on days of before test substance administration, and on days 3 after administration in skin irritation test and measured on days of before test substance administration, and on days 3, 7 after administration in eye irritation test. As a result, general clinical signs, skin irritation, and eye irritation were not observed during the entire test period, and the body weight was increased normally. In the skin sensitization test, test substance was administered to the skin of Hartley guinea pigs, and skin was observed at 24 hours and 48 hours after the induction of the test substance. As a result, there were no general clinical signs due to administration of the test substance, normal weight gain was observed, no skin reaction such as erythema and edema was observed, and the sensitization index and the frequency index were calculated as 0 and 0%, respectively. From the above results, it was evaluated that the test substance did not cause skin irritation and eye irritation and did not cause any skin sensitization, so that it was not problematic.
