This paper deals with the identification of static and Coulomb friction coefficients. An approach based on limit cycles properties once the mechanical system is brought to oscillations is proposed. This leads to an explicit formulation in the regulator parameters on one part, and the oscillation amplitude and period on the other part. The method is validated by a simulation example and an experimental benchmark.

Hepatitis B is a global health problem and an imgiortant cause of morbidity and mortality, especially in the Far East. In Korea, perinatal transmissian is presently: the most import.ant route of transmission with an almost universa.l history of past infection seen in the adult population, In future years, with the implernentation of neonatal immunoprophylaxis the population at risk will shift from neonates to older chilrdren and young adults who have failed to receive necessary booster immunizations. The need for optimal preventive practices in social are medical activities will then he increasingly more important. In this article we have reviewed some of the recent information in understanding hepartitis B, arid provided specific suggestions to asisist the ciermatologist in practiing with optimal prevention in his office. Through combined efforts the future eradication of hepatitis B may be realized.
Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Erosive Potential of a Leading Edge Cavity

This paper presents a joint experimental and numerical analysis of the erosive potential of an unsteady cavity that develops at the leading edge of a two-dimensional hydrofoil and periodically sheds vapour clouds. From an experimental viewpoint, the erosive potential was characterized by pressure pulse height spectra. The hydrofoil was equipped with eight pressure sensors made of PVDF piezoelectric film that allowed the measurement of flow aggressiveness at different locations along the hydrofoil chord. It was shown that the mean peak rate over a large number of cavity pulsations exhibits a maximum at a distance from the leading edge close to the maximum cavity length. Moreover, the increase in flow aggressiveness caused by an increase in flow velocity can be explained by an increase in both amplitude and frequency of impact loads. From a numerical viewpoint, the unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations were solved using a modified k-ε RNG turbulence model together with a homogeneous cavitation model within a two-dimensional approach. Flow aggressiveness was estimated from the Lagrangian derivative of the computed void fraction that allows identifying the regions of collapse of vapour structures. Three different critical regions from an erosive viewpoint were numerically identified. Apart from the region of collapse of the shed cloud (which was not instrumented in the present study), the computations showed a maximum of aggressiveness around the maximum cavity length as found experimentally. Another region of high aggressiveness closer to the leading edge and associated to the upward movement of the re-entrant jet was predicted by the present numerical model but not confirmed experimentally, which probably shows the limitation of a two-dimensional approach.
Microstrip EHF Butler Matrix Design and Realization

This paper describes the design and realization of an extra high frequency band 8 × 8 microstrip Butler matrix. Operation at 36 GHz is achieved with a frequency bandwidth exceeding 400 MHz. The circuit is implemented on a bi-layer microstrip structure using conventional manufacturing processes. This planar implementation of a Butler matrix is a key component of a switched beam smart antenna with printed antenna elements integrated on-board. Conception details, simulation results, and measurements are also given for the components (hybrid couplers, cross-couplers, and vertical inter-connections) used to implement the matrix.
Experimental and numerical studies of mono-strand anchorage

This paper deals with an experimental and numerical study of a mono-strand wedge anchor head mechanism. First, the experimental program is presented and monitored data such as wedge slippage, anchor deflection and strain distributions along external peripheral surfaces of the anchor head are presented and discussed. In accordance with the experimental set up, these data concern only the global behaviour of the mechanism and cannot provide valuable information such as internal stress-strains distributions, stress concentrations and percentage of yielded volume. Therefore, the second part of this paper deals with the development of an efficient numerical finite element model capable of providing mechanism of the core information. The numerical model which includes all kinematics/material/contact non-linearities is first calibrated using experimental data. Subsequently, a numerical study of the anchorage mechanism is performed and its behaviour is compared to the behaviour of a slightly geometrically modified mechanism where the external diameter has been increased by 5 mm. Finally, different topics influencing the anchorage mechanism behaviour are addressed such as lubrication and wedge shape.
Economic Models of French Amateur Soccer Clubs. From One Crisis to the Other: Which Transformation?

This article presents economic models at work in French amateur soccer clubs playing National 1 and National 2 tiers. Teams’ sporting performance and clubs’ financial results as well as their revenue and expenditure statistical distribution are analysed by means of Principal Component Analysis. Then a k-means methodology is implemented in view to defining archetypical clusters that characterise French amateur soccer clubs during the 2008-2020 period. The latter span of time opens a window of opportunity for understanding transformations in club economic models since the subprime crisis and up to current global economic recession triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the club taxonomy, a comparative static analysis shows that more amateur soccer clubs are in more satisficing financial shape at the dawn of the sanitary crisis than when they have been facing the subprime crisis. The so-called “virtuous modesty” cluster includes a greater number of clubs in 2019/20 than in 2008/09.
