The scarcity of clean water is a global issue and poses serious challenges to the survival of all livingspecies. The membrane technology has gained a considerable attention to address this issue. The polymernanocomposite membranes (PNCMs) are the most favorable choice in the membrane technology. ThePNCMs are obtained by addition of nano-entities (fibrous, platelets, spherical) into the polymer matrix. These are low cost, eco-friendly, and energy efficient membrane materials with operationalflexibility andfeasibility. This review presents an overview of the progress in PNCMs for wastewater treatment. Different methods used for manufacturing nanocomposite membranes are discussed. Additionally, thesurface modification of nano-entities with different crosslinking agents to achieve their uniformdispersion within the polymer matrix to improve the mechanical, antibacterial, and adsorptionproperties of PNCMs has been discussed. At the end, the shortfalls and future prospective of polymernanocomposite membrane technology are highlighted.

This paper deals with numerical treatment of singularly perturbed differential equations involving small delays. The highest order derivative in the equation is multiplied by a perturbation parameter 𝜀 taking arbitrary values in the interval (0, 1]. For small 𝜀, the problem involves a boundary layer of width O(𝜀), where the solution changes by a finite value, while its derivative grows unboundedly as 𝜀 tends to zero. The considered problem contains delay on the convection and reaction terms. The terms with the delays are approximated using Taylor series approximations resulting to asymptotically equivalent singularly perturbed BVPs. Inducing exponential fitting factor for the term containing the singular perturbation parameter and using central finite difference for the derivative terms, numerical scheme is developed. The stability and uniform convergence of difference schemes are studied. Using a priori estimates we show the convergence of the scheme in maximum norm. The scheme converges with second order of convergence for the case 𝜀 = O(N<sup>-1</sup>) and for the case 𝜀 ≪ N<sup>-1</sup>, the scheme converge uniformly with first order of convergence, where N is number of mesh intervals in the domain discretization. We compare the accuracy of the developed scheme with the results in the literature. It is found that the proposed scheme gives accurate result than the one in the literatures.
Strengthening Seed Production through Maize Seed Village in Thailand: A Case Study

태국에의 옥수수 재배는 종자 가격의 상승, 잦은 기후변화, 때때로 부족한 종자로 인하여 종자구입을 주저하고 있는 실정인데, 종자의 자가소비 및 이웃농가 보급을 통하여 옥수수 종자구입 비용의 절감을 목적으로, 태국 농업청(Department of Agriculture, Thailand)과 한국 농촌진흥청(Rural DevelopmentAdministration, Republic of Korea)과의 협력으로 AFACI(Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative)의 태국 국별 과제로 옥수수 종자마을 조성(Maize Seed Village) 사업을 선정하여 추진하였다. 대상 품종은 태국 자체 육성종인 건조저항성 단교잡종 나콘사완3(Nakhon Sawan 3)로 교잡종 채종기술은 나콘사완전작물연구소가 운영한 채종농가 훈련을 거쳐 이전되었으며 이를 위하여 종자채종기술 교재 600부를 제작 활용하였다. 2010 여름, 2011 우기, 2011 여름 기간, 총 3작기에 걸쳐 5개주 52개 마을 175농가 96 ha에서 종자 79,988kg을 생산하여 자가 소비 및 이웃 농가 보급에 활용하였다. 생산된 종자의 판매가격은 일반 상업화 종자 가격의 46~60%수준이었으며, 농가는 나콘사완 3 교잡 종자에 대한 채종재배기술과 품종의 성능에 크게 만족하였다. In recent years, farmers tend to invest more on seed purchasing for maize cultivation mainly due to increase of seed price, risk from climate change and seed shortage. In this regard, an attempt has been made to establish “Maize Seed Village” in order to ensure seed sufficiency among farmers thus saving cost of seed purchasing. The Department of Agriculture (DOA), Thailand and Rural Development Administration (RDA), Republic of Korea have jointly undertaken the project “Strengthening Seed Production through Maize Seed Village” in Thailand from 2010-2012 under the Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI). The project aimed to establish maize seed village of Nakhon Sawan 3, a drought-tolerant hybrid cultivar. The technology of hybrid seed production of this cultivar was transferred to the farmers in 5 provinces through training programs with 600 copies of hybrid seed production manual. 175 farmers from the 52 villages with a total of 96 ha joined the project and continuously produced drought-tolerant hybrid seeds in the summer of 2010-2011 during rainy season. The farmers were able to produce 79,988 kg of drought-tolerant hybrid seeds. The hybrid seed price produced by the farmers was 46 to 60 % low compared with commercial hybrid seed. The farmers were satisfied with the introduction of Nakhon Sawan 3 hybrid seed production technology and performance of their hybrid variety.

In this article, an exact analytical solution for mechanical buckling analysis of magnetoelectroelastic plate resting on pasternak foundation is investigated based on the third-order shear deformation plate theory. The in-plane electric and magnetic fields can be ignored for plates. According to Maxwell equation and magnetoelectric boundary condition, the variation of electric and magnetic potentials along the thickness direction of the plate is determined. The von Karman model is exploited to capture the effect of nonlinearity. Navier's approach has been used to solve the governing equations for all edges simply supported boundary conditions. Numerical results reveal the effects of (i) lateral load, (ii) electric load, (iii) magnetic load and (iv) higher order shear deformation theory on the critical buckling load have been investigated. These results must be the analysis of intelligent structures constructed from magnetoelectroelastic materials.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between employee engagement and individual performance outcomes (including growth, achievement, contribution, and customer satisfaction) in large firms in Thailand, which is rapidly growing as an international business hub. The study took place in Thai offices of multinational corporations, whose performance is both very important for Thailand’s overall economy and for the firm’s continued presence in Thailand. The study was conducted using a survey methodology. A convenience sample of employees of multinational corporations (n = 423) completed a survey on employee engagement and individual performance outcomes. The data were analyzed using linear regression analysis. The results showed that there was a significant, positive relationship between employee engagement and all four performance outcomes that were targeted. The strongest effect was observed for achievement (β = 0.899), followed by growth (β = 0.887), contribution (β = 0.872), and customer satisfaction (β = .867). These findings indicate that employee engagement is a significant and strong factor that determines the individual performance of employees of multinational corporations. This implies that companies do need to consider how to promote employee engagement. There were some limitations, especially social response bias and the self-reported nature of performance, that limit these findings.
