Frontier orbital energy and superdelocalizability, bond order for macrocyclic ligands have een studied using HMO. As a result of these and relate studied, macrocyclic ligands will be easily excited, ΔEπ of the factors affecting stabilization are in the order of MACY-2>MACY-1 ligand.

Synovial sarcomas is a mesenchymal tumor that usually occurs in the extremities. Fewer than 100 cases of synovial sarcoma havebeen reported in the head and neck lesion. We experienced 2 cases of synovial sarcoma of neck, and so reported with a review ofliterature. (Korean J Otolaryngol 2006;49:952-5)

The second-order rate constants for the reactions of phenacyl halides with piperidine in anhydrous acetone were determined, and the activation parametrs were also evaluated. It was found that the phenacyl bromide was more reactive about 222 times than the phenacyl chloride toward the piperidine, and that the values of entropies of activation were quite negative and those of enthalpies of activation were comparatively low. It, therefore, may be concluded that the reactions were to be S_N2 mechanism. Arguments are presented against the application of Kirkwood's equation in the reaction of phenacyl bromide with piperidine.
ZnTe of Electro-Optic Modulator(1)

For the purpose of fabricating an electro-optic (E-O) modulator of ZnTe, we introduced an improved method for growing ZnTe crystals. Since pure ZnTe has a p-type conductivity, we use an indium impurity and the charge--compensation effects to make insulating ZnTe . From the X-ray diffraction patterns and the X-ray double--crystal rocking curve (DCRC), we found that the crystal surface was the (110) plane and that the crystal was very high quality. With this crystal, we made a ZnTe E-O modulator device, and as a test result, we confirmed that the modulation signal varied linearly from 15 mV to 95 mV when an input signal of 25 V to 150 V was applied. The modulator followed the Pockels effect exactly. Also, we obtained a significant modulation signal at 1.7 kHz and at 200 kHz. ZnTe의 Electro-Optic(E-O) modulator를 만들기 위하여 ZnTe 단결정을 향상된 기술로 성장시키었다. 또 순수한 ZnTe 단결정이 p형이기 때문에 In을 주입하여 전하보상 효과에 의한 Insulating ZnTe를 만들었다. 이들 단결정의 벽개면이 (110)면이 되는 것과 결정질을 평가하기 위해서 X-선 회절 및 X-선 double crystal rocking curve(DCRC)를 측정하였다. 실제로 이 결정을 이용하여 ZnTe E-O modulator를 제작하고, 60Hz 신호로 25-150V까지 인가하여 검출기 신호가 15mV에서 95mV까지 아주 선형적으로 변화하여, 이 modulator가 Pockels effect를 그대로 따르고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또 1.7KHz 및 200KHz에서도 뚜렷한 변조신호를 얻을 수 있었다.
Cr(Ⅲ)과 Ρ-Dimethylaminoazobenzene과의 착물형성에 관한 연구

아세토니트릴, 메탄올 그리고 아세토니트릴-메탄올 혼합용매에서 Cr(Ⅲ)과 p-Dimethylaminoazobenzene(DMAB)을 반응시켜 착물을 얻었다. 15-35℃의 온도범위에 걸쳐 UV-Vis 분광기를 이용하여 다양한 열역학적 성질들을 얻었다. 분광학적 결과들은 반응성과 반응속도가 △H와 △S에 의해 조절된다는 것을 보여주었다. 이온종들의 거동은 전기전도도법으로 연구하였으며, 착물 대 리간드의 비는 1:1과 1:2를 이루는 것으로 나타났다. 착물의 구조는 특징적인 라만밴드들의 변화를 관찰함으로써 예상하였다. The complex of Cr(Ⅲ) with p-Dimethylaminoazobenzene(DMAB) was studied in acetonitrile, methanol and acetonitrile-methanol mixture solvents. Various thermodynamic properties were obtained using UV-Vis spectroscopy at temperature range 15-35℃. The spectroscopic results showed that the reactivity and the reaction rate were controlled by △H, △S. The behavior of the ionic species was studied by a conductometric method, and the ratio of the metal to ligand was found to be 1:1 and 1:2. The structure of the complex was predicted observing the changes in characterisitic Raman bands.

Actinomycosis is a chronic and suppurative infection caused by an endogenous Gram-positive bacterium. The usual sites of infectionare the head and neck, thorax, and abdomen. Primary cutaneous actinomycosis is very rare and usually associated with externaltrauma and local ischemia. We report on the case of a primary cutaneous actinomycosis of the nasolabial fold in a 70-year-oldwoman. The patient had a well-defined subcutaneous nodule on the nasolabial fold without any other lesion. The patient was treatedsuccessfully with surgical resection and combined antibiotic therapy. There has been no recurrence during the 3 months period offollow-up. (Korean J Otolaryngol 2006;49:1126-9)
