In this study, the mean crushing load of thin-walled closed hat and tube type medel subjected to axial compression is investigated. The energy method for calculating the mean crushing load was based on the Wierzbicki theory for tube section and the Ohkubo theory for single hatted section. And the experiments was performed for comparing with the theoretical results. Among the most important observations and conclusions one may list the following: 1) In the analysis of corner, it is more reasonable to consider the stretching energy by circumferential stretching effect. 2) The difference of energy equations between the tube and the single hatted type model have something to do with the presence of bending energy for flange zone, that is, the equation of the single hatted type model is equal to the equation that added the bending energy in flange zone to the tube type model. 3) In the case of double hatted section member, the stretching energy of corner met with flange as well as the bending energy of flange must be added. Also crash modes of double hatted section member was more complicated and one need more investigation about these.

Vibration analysis of through-the-width-split beams for predicting buckling load is investigated based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. In split region, each segment is considered as a solid beam. In this region, recurrence equations relating integration constants for adjacent interior regions are established by satisfying continuity conditions at junctions of interior regions. The results of present study are compared with those of experiment and their results give good agreement with each other. From the result, it was shown that local buckling phenomena could appear in fundamental mode, however, there exists load carrying capacity after this phenomena.

This study aims at finding a effect of various position and length of laminar tear on vibrational characteristics on beam including shear deformation. General solution for nonlaminar tear and laminar tear regions are first established. Recurrence equations relating integration constants for adjacent interior regions are established by satisfying continuity conditions at junctions of interior region. The frequency determinant is then obtained by satisfying contiuity conditions at junction between end region and interior regions immediately next to the end region. Numerical results are compared for experimental and references results.

This Paper deals with the weight-lowering and the traits of NVH(Noise, Vibration and Harshness) by the development of tubular shaft replacing the existing solid Drive Shaft for the lighter and less-noisy automobiles. By the review of Swaging Process this study reveals the various forming traits of Swaging, one of the forming methods for tubular shafts. Furthermore, it showed the possibility of Drive Shaft manufacturing through designing & manufacturing of Swaging machine for tubular shaft, and the production & analysis of the tubular shaft with the relevant process and tools. This study also shows that the forming by swaging not only makes the mass production of tubular Drive Shaft possible but also may be widely applied to other products with many advantages in review of dimensional precision, thickness change, hardness increase and surface roughness of the swaged products.

The numerical study on the waterhammer was carried out for the intake pumping station of the metropolitan water supply 6th stage project. Because the waterhammer problems as a result of the pump power failure were the most important, these situations were carefully investigated. The surge tank and the stand pipes effectively protected the tunnels md the downstream region of pipeline from the pressure surge. In case the moment of inertia of the pump and motor was above $5080\;kg{\cdot}m^2$, the column separation did not occur in the pipeline between the pumping station and the inlet of 1st tunnel. As the moment of inertia increased, the pressure surges decreased in the pipeline conveying raw water. The pump control valve was chosen as the main surge suppression device for the intake pumping station. After power failure, the valve disc should be rapidly closed in 2.5 seconds and controlled the final closure to 15 seconds by the oil dashpot. If the slamming happened to the pump control valve, there was some danger of this system damaging. As the reverse flow through the valve increased, the upsurge extremely increased.

The problem ofinstability of laminated circular cylindrical shell under the action of torsio or lateral pressure is investigated. The analysis is based on the Sander's theory for finite deformations of thin shell. The buckling is elastic for thin compoisite shell nad the geometry is assumed to be free of initial imperfections. The equilibrium equations are obrained by usitn the p[erturbation technique. Solution procedure is based on the Galerkin mehtod. The computer program for numerical results is made for several stacking sequence, length-to-radius ratio, and radius-to-thickness ratio. The numerical results of buckling load are present.
