The effects of particle size and high pressure on the antioxidant activity of skin and flesh of deodeok (Condonopsis lanceolata) were studied. The deodeok powder was prepared by different particle sizes, such as 20-40 mesh, 40-60 mesh, and below 100 mesh. High pressure was applied at 250 MPa and 450 MPa for 10min. The antioxidant activity was measured by the concentration of total phenol, DPPH, and reduction power. According to the mass transfer theory, the diffusion rate was inversely proportional to the particle sizes of the solute. However, high extraction rate was observed from the large particle size (20-40 mesh) of the powder prepared by the whole deodeok which included both skin and flesh. When the powders were separately prepared by skin and flesh, the extraction rate were inversely proportional to the particle size. The antioxidant activity from the skin was significantly higher than that of flesh (p<0.05). High pressure treatment increased the antioxidant activity of flesh dramatically. The result of study indicated that the by-product of deodeok was a useful resource to obtain the antioxidants.

Polymer Electrolyte Membrane fuel cell(PEMFC)의 촉매로는 주로 carbon을 지지체로 사용한 Pt/C 흑은 Pt alloy/C을 사용하게 된다. 이때 PEMFC의 상용화에 있어 촉매의 안정성은 상용화 실현에 있어 중요한 요인으로 인식되고 있다. 촉매의 성능 저하는 Pt의 활성 면적(Active surface area)의 감소가 원인으로 얘기되어 지고 있으며 이는 지지체로 사용한 탄소에 나노 크기로 분산되어 있던 Pt 입자가 커지면서 활성 면적이 감소되어 지기 때문이다. 이번 연구에서는 상용 Pt/C를 사용하여 Cyclic Voltammetry(CV)의 장기간 운전 및 다양한 조건 변화를 통하여 Pt입자의 크기 증가에 미치는 요인에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 이와 더불어 Linear Sweep Voltammety(LSV), TEM, 등을 통한 분석이 진행되었다.

Asbestos has widely been used in buildings due to the characteristics of insulation and economic feasibility. However, asbestos has been designated as a banned item list by IARC since 1980s as it was classified as the material which cause diseases. Therefore, the problems that asbestos containing materials are not be used and maintained but be dismantled and disposed have come to the fore. Therefore, this study considered wide legislations about dismantlement and demolition of asbestos containing materials, the relevant guidelines, and standards of estimate. As a result, the whole process to dismantle and demolish asbestos containing materials was listed and the detailed estimation equations and cost items were coded. The detailed estimation equations by process and inventory of the cost items were built. And the estimation equations for the disposal costs of asbestos containing materials incurred in the whole process were developed by summing up the disposal costs by process. The clear standards about the disposal costs incurred in the whole process to dismantle and demolish asbestos containing materials suggested by this study is expected to be utilized as valuable basic data when dismantlement and demolition will be planned at the pan-governmental level in the future.

목적: 본 연구는 우리나라에서 제세동기를 삽입한 환자들의 임상적 특징을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 서울아산병원에서 1996년부터 2005년 까지 제세동기를 삽입한 135명의 환자들을 대상으로 후향적으로 분석하였다. 결과: 제세동기를 삽입하게 된 환자들의 3가지 주요 기저 질환은 심근 경색 후 심실성 빈맥, 브루가다 증후군, 비후성 심근증이었고, 이 중 브루가다 증후군이 상대적으로 많은 것은 서구와 다른 특징이다. 제세동기 삽입 후 적절한 전기 충격이 43명(31.9%)에서 발생하였으며, 부적절한 전기 충격도 39명(28.9%)에서 발생하였다. 결론: 제세동기는 급성 심장사의 고위험군 환자에서 치명적인 심실성 부정맥으로 인한 사망을 감소시키는데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 생각된다. 하지만 상당수의 환자에서 부적절한 전기충격이나 제세동기의 감지오류 등의 문제가 발생하였고, 이는 적절한 항부정맥제의 사용이나 제세동기 감지 설정의 최적화 등을 통하여 최소화할 필요성이 있음을 시사한다. Background/Aims: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical features of the patients who underwent implantable cardioverter- defibrillator (ICD) treatment. Methods: The clinical features and the test data of the intracardiac electrograms for the patients who underwent ICD implantation between 1996 and 2005 at Asan Medical Center were retrospectively analyzed. Results: One hundred thirty five patients (109 males and 26 females, a mean age of 54±13 years) were included in this study. The underlying cardiovascular diseases were post-myocardial infarction (MI) ventricular tachycardia (VT), Brugada syndrome, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (CM) and dilated CM. During a mean of 2.9±2.0 years of follow-up, appropriate shocks were delivered in 43 (31.9%) and inappropriate shocks were delivered in 39 (28.9%) patients. Anti-tachycardia pacing therapy was effective in 17 patients. Inappropriate shocks were caused by atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular responses, T wave oversensing or electromagnetic interference. Major complications of ICD therapy during follow-up included ICD infection, lead problems, electromagnetic interference and generator malfunction. Conclusions: The three major cardiovascular diseases in patients with ICD implantation were post-MI VT, Brugada syndrome and hypertrophic CM. Inappropriate shocks were delivered to a significant proportion of the patients, which emphasize the need for an aggressive rate control strategy in patients with atrial fibrillation. Most complications of ICD therapy were caused by device malfunction. (Korean J Med 74:68-74, 2008)

Electron mobility of high electron mobility transistor(HEMT) is increased at low temperature dut to reduction of the impurity and lattice scattering. In compliance with this fact, metamorphic high electron mobility transistor(mHEMT) can show ultra high RF characteristics at low temperature. The fabricated 50 ㎚ zigzag T-gate IIn0.52Al0.48As/In0.53 Ga0.47 As mHEMT shows 500㎓ current cut off frequency at 100 K.

The experiment was conducted to change physical properties and antioxidant activity of flour noodle and boiled flour dough that added coloured potato (Hongyoung and Jayoung) powder(RF and PF) and starch(RSF and PSF). when coloured potato was added to dough, the flavor and texture of its noodle are better than noodle made by wheat flour (WF). The hardness, gumminess and chewiness of dough added coloured potato flour showed higher value than wheat flour dough. The total phenolic compound of dough added coloured potato flour was 3.7-5.8 times higher than boiled wheat flour dough. Additionally, DPPH scavenging acvitity was 1.5-1.6 times higher than boiled weat flour dough. It indicate that manufacturing noodle with coloured potato flour present better quality than wheat flour that was generally used for manufacturing noodle.
