It is very important problem that exactly distinguish constitution, in Sasang constitutional Medicine. But, it is careless that discuss the propriety of 'Sasang constitution unchangeability theory(四象體質 不變論)'. The foundation of Sasang constitution unchangeability theory is the sentence in DongUi SuSae BoWon Sa-dan theory(東醫壽世保元 四端論) : "The Organ system of Taeyang(太陽), Taeum(太陰), Soyang (少陽) and Soeum(少陰) is the variation of YinYang(陰陽), is firm nature and is unnecessary agreement. (太少陰陽之臟局 陰陽之變化也 天稟之已定 固無可論)". But, the foundation of Sasang constitution unchangeability theory contradict the theory that Organ system(臟腑) is made by deviation of emotions(joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure :喜怒哀樂) or temperament(性情). Because these emotions is revealed after birth(後天), the deviation of Organs system made by deviation of emotions is not innate, is acquired after birth. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the opinion that Sasang constitution is variable after birth. The conclusion of our study is that Sasang constitution can be variable after birth.
외관(外關)(TE5),협계(俠谿)(GB43) 자침이 SQUID로 측정한 뇌 청각영역의 뇌자도(腦磁圖) 변화에 미치는 영향

Objectives and Methods: Using the 2-channel DROS SQUID (Korea Research Institute of Standards of Science, 1999), the present study was carried out to record changes elicited in the auditory cortex by acupuncture stimulus on right TE5 (Waiguan) and GB43 (Xiaxi). Needle-retention stimulation of TE5 and GB43 were done for acquiring the brain activities changed by acupuncture. Acupoint TE5 and GB43 is known to be effective for the treatment of ear-related disease, such as deafness and tinnitus, and to be suspected to be related to the auditory cortex. Auditory evoked magnetic fields were recorded from the Left hemisphere of five subjects, in response to contralateral ear stimulation by irregularly spaced 170 msec Long 1kHz tone busts (Korea Research Institute of Standards of Science) Results and Conclusions: The result as follows. The Latency and amplitude of SQUID MEG responses at the human auditory cortex changed by needle-retention condition on TE5 were 4msec and 9.2 fT, respectively, which were slower and smaller than those of no-acupuncture condition. The Latency and amplitude of SQUID MEG responses at the human auditory cortex changed by needle-retention condition on GB43 were 7.2 msec and 1.6 fT, respectively, which were slower and Larger than those of no-acupuncture condition. The Latency of SQUID MEG responses at the human auditory cortex changed by needle-retention condition on GB43 condition was slower than that of TE5 acupuncture condition.
태음조위탕(太陰調胃湯)과 태음조위배마황탕(太陰調胃培麻黃湯)이 비만 흰쥐에 미치는 영향

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Taeyeumjoweetang (TJT) and Taeyeumjoweebaemahwangtang (TJBM) medication on body weight change and serum total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride, free fatty acid, total lipid, phospholipid level, and CBC of obese rats. Methods: Obese rats induced by high-fat fed are medicated for 7 weeks. 32 rats are divided into four groups depending on the medication; normal group (general-fat fed and no-medication), control group (high-fat fed and no medication), TJT group (high-fat fed and TJT medication) and TJBM group (high-fat fed and TJBM medication). After 7 weeks, obesity related index and CBC are analysed. Results: There is a significant statistical difference between control group and TJBM group for the body weight change, the total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglyceride level: total cholesterol values of control and TJBM are 59.25±9.56㎎/㎗ and 39.13±9.08㎎/㎗, respectively; HDL cholesterol values of control and TJBM are 22.0±1.69㎎/㎗ and 13.75±2.19㎎/㎗, respectively; triglyceride values of control and TJBM are 12.75±3.37㎎/㎗ and TJBM: 8.13±1.64㎎/㎗, respectively. There is a significant statistical difference between control group, TJT, and TJBM group for free fatty acid and phospholipid level: free fatty acid values of control, TJT, and TJBM are 936.25±89.59㎛/ℓ, 738.75±109.47㎛/ℓ, and 720±150.71㎛/ℓ, respectively; phospholipid values of Control, TJT, and TJBM are 87.13±11.86㎎/㎗, 70.5±12.22㎎/㎗, and 60.5±11.1㎎/㎗, respectively. Conclusion: These results suggest that medication of TJT and TJBM is effective for the treatment of obesity. Especially, TJBM is more effective than TJT.
황칠 · 미강 발효 추출물이 tyrosinase 활성 저해 및 항산화에 미치는 효과

In this study, we used the mixture made from the Rice bran 45 ㎏, Dendropanax 5 ㎏, the sugar of the 10% of the total weight, and the enzyme of the 0.1% of the total weight. After the mixture were fermented for 90 days under 20 ℃, we measured the cell viability and the inhibition rate of the melanin biosynthesis, the activity of tyrosinase and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in malignant melanoma, B16F10 cells, in order to survey the whitening effect and the mechanism of the effects on the sample. As a result, the samples significantly suppressed the cell viability of B16F10 in more than 500 ㎍/㎖ and significantly inhibited the generation of melanin induced by α-MSH in more than 1,000 ㎍/㎖. Sample decreased the activity of tyrosinase while increased the activity of SOD in dose dependent manner. Therefore, we considered that the fermentation extract made from a Rice bran and Dendropanax will be able to produce high value-added products, if used as a commercial.
합곡(合谷) 복류(復溜) 보사(補瀉) 시술(施術)이 소한(少汗)에 미치는 영향(影響)(1)

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of the tonification & sedation manipulation for LI4 and KI7 on lacking of sweating in cold environment. Methods: The participants were divided into 3 groups as intact group without acupuncture, acupuncture group inserting and twisting with LI4 tonificaton and KI7 sedation method(LI4-tonify·KI7-purge) and acupuncture group inserting and twisting with LI4 sedation and KI7 tonificaton method(LI4-purge·KI7-tonify). We obtained baseline data at cold condition with the temperature 14±1℃. After making the participant staying in cold condition for 10 minute, we measured sweating rate in skin surface, body temperature, oxygen saturation, pulse rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, deoxy-Hb and oxy-Hb in subcutaneous. Results: After acupuncture in cold environment, the sweating rate in skin surface significantly decreased in KI7-purge·LI4-tonify group comparing the intact groups. The body temperature significantly increased in LI4-tonify·KI7-purge and LI4-purge·KI7-tonify groups comparing the intact group. The oxygen saturation significantly increased in LI4-tonify·KI7-purge group comparing the intact group. Conclusions: These findings indicated that LI4 tonificaton and KI7 sedation method(LI4-tonify·KI7-purge) could be effective for production of sweating in cold condition.
배(梨) 추출물과 길경(桔梗) 행인(杏仁) 배합제제의 용량 및 기간별 투여가 Ovalbumin으로 유발된 천식 생쥐에 미치는 영향

Objectives: Oriental pear was used as traditional remedies for respiratory diseases like cough and asthma etc. The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of preventing asthma by the combination of phenolic compound extracted from pear and herbal drugs. Methods: In order to study the effects of preventing asthma by the combination of phenolic compound extracted from pear and herbal drugs (Platycodon grandiflorum, Prunus armeniaca) on allergic asthma, mice were pre-treated by oral administration of the solution before antigen sensitization for 10 days and 20days. And 2 days later, mice were actively sensitized with a subcutaneous injection of ovalbumin and 13 days later, they were provoked with ovalbumin aerosols. The experimental groups were divided 6groups (10d1P, 10d2P, 10d4P, 20d1P, 20d2P and 20d4P) by meditation quantity and period. We measured isometric contractile responses to acetylcholine (ACh) and KCl in the isolated tracheal smooth muscle (TSM), IL-4, eosinophil and lymphocyte in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), IgE in serum, WBC, RBC and hemoglobin in blood. Results: Contractile responses of TSM to ACh, the sensitivity of TSM to Ach and the maximal contractile response of TSM to KCl were decreased by direct proportion of meditation quantity. Eosinophil and IL-4 level in BALF were more significantly decreased, and IgE level in serum was more significantly increased in 10d4P and 20d4P group than the control group. Conclusions: Based on the above results, it is assumed that oral administration of the combination of phenolic compound extracted from pear and herbal drugs (Platycodon grandiflorum, Prunus armeniaca) can help the preventing effects of allergic asthma.
