Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of Hangamdan(Kangaidan) on 60 patients who have suffered from breast cancer. Methods: Hangamdan(Kangaidan) was administered to patients for over 1 months continuously. We checked improvement of clinical symptoms, changes of chemistry hematological test. Results: The results obtained are summarized as follows. Hangamdan(Kangaidan) has significant effect on the improvement of clinical symptoms. The effects of maintenance and improvement in the symptoms with traditional oriental therapy(83.3%) and combined treatment of western and oriental therapy(92.1%) were observed. The effects of the symptoms were diarrhea(37.3%), abdominal pain (25.3%), general body weakness(22.9%), nausea(20.5%) and etc. in orders. And analysis of hematology attached by breast cancer, maintenance and increasing of WBC(89.9%), RBC(74.7%), Hgb(81.1%), Platelet(92.4%) were observed. After taken Hangamdan(Kangaidan), maintenance and decreasing of AST(85.9%), ALT(94.8%), ${\gamma}$-GTP(87.5%), BUN(88.3%), Creatinine(90.9%) were observed. And increasing of IL-12(25%), IFN-${\gamma}$(83%) were observed. Conclusions: From the above results, it is suggested that Hangamdan(Kangaidan) have significant effects on recovery of immune modulation.
내구수명 및 K&C 특성 향상을 위한 토션빔현가액슬 최적설계

This research proposes an automatic torsion beam axle optimization process and obtains the optimal torsion design parameters, such as thickness and shape. In order to construct an automatic analysis process, the multidisciplinary analysis models, such as modal analysis, roll mode dynamic analysis, and fatigue analysis, were equipped as batch mode. To understand a design space, the parametric study using torsion beam thickness and shape was executed. Considering the roll durability and K&C characteristics, a torsion beam axle could be optimized. For the automatic design process, the PIDO tool, called as P.I.A.n.O., are utilized. In conclusions, we could reduce a computer-aided simulation time and enhance the durability and K&C characteristics of torsion beam by optimizing thickness and shape.

This study introduces the Reliability-Based Design Optimization(RBDO) to enhance the kinematic and compliance (K & C) characteristics of automotive suspension system. In previous studies, the deterministic optimization has been performed to enhance the K & C characteristics. Unfortunately, uncertainties in the real world have not been considered in the deterministic optimization. In the design of suspension system, design variables with the uncertainties, such as the bushing stiffness, have a great influence on the variation of the suspension performances. There is a need to quantify these uncertainties and to apply the RBDO to obtain the design, satisfying the target reliability level. In this research, design variables including uncertainties are dealt as random variables and reliability of the suspension performances, which are related the K & C characteristics, are quantified and the RBDO is performed. The RBD-optimum is compared with the deterministic optimum to verify the enhancement in reliability. Thus, the reliability of the suspension performances is estimated and the RBD-optimum, satisfying the target reliability level, is determined.

This research proposes a design process considering uncertainties to obtain optimal hardpoints and bush stiffness coefficients of the automotive suspension systems. To execute the kinematic and compliance analysis of the suspension system, we utilizes ADAMS/Car model of the McPherson strut type front suspension system. The proposed design process consists of 3 steps. The first step is to define the uncertainties. In this step, the properties of automotive parts are considered as random variables. To randomize their nonlinear properties, the engineering sense is needed. The second step is to analyze the influence on suspension system uncertainties. The final step is to optimize the hardpoints considering random variables. In this research, all design studies are executed by the FRAMAX, it is one of the PIDO tools. In conclusion, the design process under uncertainties is proposed and is applied on the automotive suspension system. As a result, the optimal hardpoints and bush stiffness coefficients can be obtained to satisfy target reliabilities of the design requirements.

Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effects of traditional oriental therapies(TOT) on advanced gastric cancer(AGC) patient with metastasis to liver. Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the medical record of a case of AGC patient in stage IV with metastasis to liver who had been treated with TOT for 5 months continuously in East-West Cancer Center of Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University from 5 March 2003 through 22 July 2003. Results : After treated with TOT for the 5 months, most of symptoms were disappeared or improved and tumor size was decreased on abdominal CT compared with the previous result. The hematological results and tumor markers were not increased. Conclusions : From the above results, it could be suggested that TOT have effects on improving symptoms and quality of life as a supportive or curative therapy for AGC patients.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of Gamichunggan-san(Jiaweiqinggan-san) on 25 patients who have suffered from alcoholic liver disease. Methods: Gamichunggan-san(Jiaweiqinggan-san) was administered to patients for over 1 months continuously. We checked improvement of clinical symptoms, changes of chemistry hematological test and especially lymphocyte count. Results: The results obtained are summarized as follows. Gamichunggan-san(Jiaweiqinggan-san) has significant effect on the improvement of clinical symptoms. And the improvement ratio of AST, ALT, ${\gamma}$-GTP was 77.8%, 61.5%, 76.2%. In patients with alcohoiic hepatitis, WBC was increased effectively within normal range and those with liver cirrhosis, All of the patients with the inverted ratio of lymphocyte was improved. Conclusions: From the above results, it is suggested that Gamichunggan-san(Jiaweiqinggan-san) have significant effects on recovery of liver malfunction and immune modulation, and also could be recommended as a prescription for alcoholic liver disease.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore some new therapies to control clinical symptoms of patients with terminal cancer by using external applications. Methods: We investigated some literatures on the external applications for cancer patients and made diagrams. Results: The results are summarized as follows. External applications are one of the traditional oriental medical methods and these are effective for pain control, ascites & pleural effusion and palpitable mass. It has some characteristics which are simple, safe and popular, but we must pay attention carefully to allergic reaction and toxicity in using external applications. The therapeutic portion of external applications are decided by discipline of syndrome and disease differentiation, and the prescriptions are composed of antitumor herb medicines. Conclusions: From the above results, it is expected that external applications are useful to improve clinical symptoms and quality of life(QOL) for patients with terminal cancer who cannot intake foods or medicines.
각종 암환자 69례에 대한 항암단의 항전이 및 재발억제효과

Purpose : Among numerous biological symptoms of cancer, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are essential for tumor invasion and metastasis. HAD is used as an inhibitor of MMP gene. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of HAD on anti metastasis and preventing recurrence in cancer patients. Materials and Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 69 cancer patients who had been administered with HAD for over 12 months continuously in East-West Cancer Center of Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University, from January 1993 to May 2002. Results : We analyzed gender, portion, stage and anti-metastasis & recurrence rates of cancer patients. Analysis of sex cases showed that the percentage of male is 62.3%, female is 37.7%. Analysis of cancer portion showed that the percentage of stomach is 31.9%, colorectum is 26.1%, lung is 21.7%, liver is 8.7%, breast is 8.7% Analysis of stage showed that the rate of III is 78.3%, IV is 13.0% and II is 8.7%. Analysis of anti-metastasis and recurrence rates showed that colorectal cancer is 77.8%, stomach cancer is 63.6%, lung cancer is 33.4% and breast cancer is 33.3% (mean : 53.6%). Conclusions : HAD has significant effects on anti-metastasis and preventing recurrence of tumor on cancer patients. So it helps to prolong the survival rates of cancer patients.

A lens system of a camera module for mobile phones is comprised of the composition and design of various shapes of lens. To improve responses such as the modular transfer function (MTF), a lens system should always be constructed by considering uncertainty that can be caused by manufacturing and assembly error. In this study, tolerance optimization using the Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) technique is performed. In order to reduce the computational burden of the tolerance optimization process and decrease the influence from numerical noise effectively, we use the Progressive Quadratic Response Surface Modeling (PQRSM), which is one of Sequential Approximate Optimization (SAO) techniques. Using this method, we achieved optimal tolerance for each lens and obtained reliability for satisfying user’s requirements. In addition, through the design process the manufacturing and assembly cost of a lens system was reduced.
