Effect of the Order of Test Diets on the Accuracy and Safety of Swallowing Studies

Objective To assess whether the order of test diets influences the results of swallowing studies with regard to their accuracy and safety.Methods Subjects with suspected dysphagia underwent a videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) and/or a fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and repeated the study on the same day or within a week. The order of test diets comprised of two different sets: trial 1 with the fluid first and trial 2 with the semi-solid food first. Main outcome measurements were the modified penetration-aspiration scale (mPAS) and the pharyngeal residue severity scale (PRSS) for the vallecula and the pyriform sinus.Results Sixty-six patients (44 men and 22 women, aged 65.0±15.0 years) were enrolled in this study. Forty-three subjects were evaluated with VFSS only and 23 with both VFSS and FEES. As a result of the swallowing studies, there was no significant difference in each chosen diet sequence regarding mPAS and PRSS. Furthermore, there was no difference regarding the duration of studies, rate of premature study termination, rate of abnormal findings in post-study chest X-ray, and rate of fever or pneumonia post-study.Conclusion The accuracy and safety of the swallowing studies do not rely on the order of test diets.
초등돌봄교실을 이용하는 아동의 공감을 위한 집단미술치료 질적 사례 연구

본 연구의 목적은 초등돌봄교실을 이용하는 아동이 공감을 위한 집단미술치료에서 어떤 경험을 하고, 그 경험의 의미는 무엇 인지 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 질적 사례 연구 방법을 적용하고, B초등학교의 초등돌봄교실을 이용하고 있는 2학년 아동 6명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 사례는 2019년 4월 8일부터 6월 17일까지, 주 1회 50분간 총 10회로 진행되었으 며, 사례 내 자료와 면담 자료를 수집 및 분석하여 4개의 상위주제와 11개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으 로 한 결론은 첫째, 참여자들은 자유로운 미술작업을 통해 자신을 비언어적이고 비공격적인 방식으로 표현하며, 서로의 표현 에 관심을 갖는 경험을 하였다. 둘째, 참여자들은 서로의 작품에서 공통점을 찾아내며 공감적 표현을 하게 되었고, 이를 바탕 으로 서로를 이해하기 시작하였다. 셋째, 참여자들은 미술작업을 통해 서로의 경험을 자신의 일처럼 느끼는 경험을 하였으며, 이는 서로에 대한 배려행동으로 이어졌다. 넷째, 참여자들은 집단 미술작업을 통해 하나의 목표를 가지고 소통하며 작업하였 으며, 이를 통해 공감적 의사소통을 기반으로 한 긍정적 상호작용을 경험하였다 The purpose of this study was to identify the experience that students attending daycare class experience through a group art therapy on empathy and to examine the meaning of their experience. For this purpose, a qualitative case study was conducted. The participants were 6 elementary students attending daycare class at school B, ten sessions of group art therapy were conducted once a week for 50 minutes from April 8th to June 17th of 2019. The results from the group art therapy were as following: First, participants had a chance to express themselves freely through non-verbal art processes free of aggression, to show interest in expression of each other. Second, as participants found similarities in each others’ art pieces, they expressed empathy naturally, and this expression developed into an understanding of each other. Third, through art, participants had a chance to feel other people’s experience as theirs and share feelings. Through this, participants were able to act in consideration of each other. Fourth, when the participants worked together for a goal, they were able to show positive interaction through empathic communication
굴껍질 및 바이오차를 이용한 산성물질 유출 토양의 복원효과 평가

Acid-spilled accidents have frequently occurred in recent years, related to hydrofluoric acid and hydrochloric acid. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential use of oyster shell and biochar derived from wood wastes for the remediation of acidified soil by acid-spilled accidents. The initial soil was spiked with 1 N H2SO4 solution to reach the final soil pH of 3.73, as an artificial acidic soil or control in this study. Single or combination of oyster shell and biochar was used at the rates of 2.5 and 2.0%, respectively. After 45 days incubation, the exchangeable cations in the control soil were sharply decreased by due to nutrient leaching by acidic soil pH. For the soil amended with oyster shell, the soil pH increased to 5.97 and the cation exchangeable capacity (CEC) also increased by 10 times greater than the control. The CO2 emission was the highest in the soil treated with combination of oyster shell and biochar compared to the control or other amendments. It can be explained with increasing soil microbial activity with oyster shell and biochar. This finding speculates that the combined use of oyster shell and biochar may induce the enhancement of soil microbial activity by their interaction. In summary, the combined use of oyster shell and biochar could be the best in neutralizing acidic soil pH and enhancing soil microbial activity.
