The paper represents the experimental analysis of the shock noise of medium caliber guns when a projectile is passed through the shielding material. In the study, the shielding material was constructed and tested in three separate experiments. The shielding material was not installed for medium caliber gun in Case 1. A medium caliber gun was fully covered with shielding material in Case 2, and another one was put with shielding material near muzzle in Case 3. In each experiment, the experimental data was compared with each other. Results showed the firing shielding material achieved a significant noise reduction in $90^{\circ}$ to the noise source. Case 3 is confirmed to be better effective than Case 2 in the near field. But, the noise reduction in the far field is small in quantity due to the low frequency. The paper is considered that further study is necessary for the shielding material which can absorb a low frequency noise in the future.

The silencer for the medium caliber gun was studied to reduce the propagation of gun-generated noise from the firing test range to the community. Three types of silencer were made to compare the reduction of sound pressure level and the effect of chamber volume and the exit angle to the reduction of sound pressure was considered. The structural analysis and measurement of pressure in the silencer showed that the structure is safe in terms of strength. The increase of recoil force to buffer must be considered in the development of silencer. The hypothesis test on the muzzle velocity for the existence of silencer showed that there are no difference at the significance level of 0.05.

This paper describes the sound insulation and structural safety of the shelter which may be used for shooters. The noise level of the shelter should be less than 100 dB on the basis of the Industrial Safety and Act, the World Health Organization and the MIL-STD. The sound insulation design was designed for the shelter structure. The designed shelter performance was verified by the real measurement after completing the construction of the shelter. The system was also designed using the finite element method with data of sound pressure measured in the test. Its response was obtained numerically. It is proved that the shelter structure is sufficiently safe considering the calculated maximum stress level with the allowable stress of structural property.

Recently, we have developed p-i-n a-Si:H single junction thin film solar cells with RF (13.56MHz) plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system, and also successfully fabricated the mini modules (>300cm²), using the laser patterning technique to form an integrated series connection. The efficiency of a mini module was 7.4% (Area=305cm², Isc=0.25A, Voc=14.74V, FF=62%). To fabricate large area modules, it is important to optimise the integrated series connection, without damaging the cell. We have newly installed the laser patterning equipment that consists of two different lasers, SHG-YVO₄ ({lambda}=0.532{mu}m) and YAG ({lambda}=1.064{mu}m). The mini-modules are formed through several scribed lines such as pattern-l (front TCO), pattern-2 (PV layers) and pattern-3 (BR/back contact). However, in the case of pattern-3, a high-energy part of laser shot damaged the textured surface of the front TCO, so that the resistance between the each cells decreases due to an incomplete isolation. In this study, the re-deposition of SnOx from the front TCO, Zn (BR layer) and Al (back contact) on the sidewalls of pattern-3 scribed lines was observed. Moreover, re-crystallization of a-Si:H layers due to thermal damage by laser patterning was evaluated. These cause an increase of a leakage current, result in a low efficiency of module. To optimize a-Si:H single junction thin film modules, a laser beam profile was changed, and its effect on isolation of scribed lines is discussed in this paper.
박막형 Si태양전지를 위한 후면반사층 ZnO:Al 최적화

비정질 Si박막 태양전지의 후면 반사층을 위한 ZnO:Al TCO박막을 RF Magnetron Sputtering 방법으로 증착하였으며 이의 전기적, 광학적 특성 및 구조를 최적화하였다. Sputtering의 공정변수인 증착 RF 파워, 기판온도, 타겟-기판 거리, 증착압력을 변화시켜 ZnO:Al 단일막의 전기적, 광학적 특성을 최적화 하였고,이를 소면적 태양전지 셀 및 모듈에 적용하였다.그 중 증착 RF파워 및 압력이 단일막의 전기적,광학적 특성에 타겟-기판거리는 박막의 균일도에 큰 영향을 주었다. 압력에 따른 박막의 치밀도를 SE EMA방법으로 정량화하였고, 광학적, 전기적 특성과 연관하여 해석하였다. ZnO:Al 박막의 물성을 최적화하여 태양전지 셀에 적용한 결과 두께 80nm에서 가장 큰 Jsc의 증가를 보였고, 적용 전에 비해 약 18%의 광변환효율의 증가를 얻었다. 최적화된 태양전지 셀의 광변환효율은 9.9%, 모듈 효율은 7.4%였다.

A 40 mm medium caliber gun to be equipped with ventilation holes is designed and manufactured in this study. The muffler used is composed of holes, blades, and several spaces in the tube. Accordingly, a numerical analysis is performed with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) before testing the muffler. The validity of the numerical analysis is examined by analyzing the differences between the measured data of the firing test and the results of the CFD analysis. The CFD analysis showed that the numerical analysis can be used positively in the muffler design because no difference exists between the results of the field test and the CFD analysis. The test result also indicated a noise reduction of approximately 10 dB. Moreover, the muzzle velocity is almost equivalent, regardless of the muffler.

To reduce the transmission of large gun-generated noise from the firing test range to the community, we have tested a silencer to be used with howitzer(155mm KM114A2) after simulation. Numerical analysis was conducted by using a commercial CFD code, FLUENT. To analyze complex blast flow fields, the Spalart-Allmaras model was applied under 2 dimensional and axisymmetric conditions. Firing tests were also performed with the KM114A2 howitzer while the silencer was installed. This paper describes a result of comparison between results of computer analysis and test outcomes which were gotten by firing 155mm projectiles at the testing range. This paper will also be informative to the muffler design which will be adapted to 155mm large gun in the future.

In this paper, the silencer for large caliber gun to reduce the propagation of gun-generated noise was studied. The results of structural analysis and firing test were described. Structural analysis was conducted by using a commercial program, ANSYS, and showed that there was not any structural problem. The sound pressure level was diminished about 10 dB by the silencer adapted in front of the gun and the soundness of the material was verified from the internal pressure measurement. The reduction of weight, improvement of durability and speed-up of actuating device have to be studied later to improve the usability of silencer for large caliber gun.
