Dissimilar joining of Al 6013-T4 alloys and austenite stainless steel was carried out using friction stir welding technique. Microstructures near the weld zone and mechanical properties of the joint have been investigated. Microstructures in the stainless steel side were composed of the heat affected zone and the plastically deformed zone, while those in the Al alloy side were composed of the recrystallized zone including stainless steel particles, the thermo-mechanically affected zone and the heat affected zone. TEM micrographs revealed that the interface region was composed of the mixed layers of elongated stainless steel and ultra-fine grained Al alloy with lamella structure and intermetallic compound layer. Thickness of the intermetallic layer was approximately 300nm and was identified as the A14Fe with hexagonal close packed structure. Mechanical properties, such as tensile and fatigue strengths were lower than those of 6013 Al alloy base metal, because tool inserting location was deviated to Al alloy from the butt line, which resulted in the lack of the stirring.

The properties of GTA weld for ferritic stainless steel have been studied with different $O_2$ contents in Ar shielding gas at the constant welding speed. A small amount of $O_2$ (0.01~1.0%) was mixed in Ar shielding gas in order to improve the weld penetration. The fully penetrated GTA weld was acquired at 160A weld current shielded by pure Ar gas. Addition of oxygen larger than 0.1% made a full penetration at lower weld current than 160A. The small addition of $O_2$ in Ar shielding gas improved the penetration properties of GTA weld because the $O_2$ in the molten pool accelerated the flow of molten pool and changed the flow pattern from outward to inward direction. The impact energy and DBTT (Ductile- Brittle- Transition-Temperature) of the GTA weld shielded by Ar+$O_2$ (less 0.3%) was similar and the corrosion properties of GTA weld was slightly inferior to those of GTA weld shielded by pure Ar gas.

This study was performed to evaluate the efficiency of the anaerobic co-digestion of food waste (FW) and sewage sludge(SS) using thermal-alkali pre-treatment and anaerobic digestion elutriated phased treatment(ADEPT). Through the evaluation of solubilization rate and methane yield, optimum thermal-alkali pre-treatment conditions were determined as follows: reaction temperature 140℃, NaOH concentration 60 meq/L, reaction time 60 min, mixture ratio 5:1(FW:SS=Wt.:Wt.). The removal efficiency of total chemical oxygen demand(TCOD), Soluble COD and volatile solid(VS) in the thermal-alkali pre-treatment ADEPT were 89%, 90% and 76%, respectively. The VS removal rate was 39% higher than that ADEPT at the same hydraulic retention time(HRT) of 7 days. Methane yield was estimated to be 0.378 L/g CODadded, which was 14% higher than that of phase Ⅱ. As a result, it is considered that the application of combined pre-treatment and ADEPT is effective increasing the biogas and methane yield due to increasing the biodegradability of FW and SS.
BASINS/WinHSPF를 이용한 북한강 유역의 장기유출량 산정에 관한 연구

In this study, the Better Assessment Science Integrating point and Nonpoint Sources (BASINS 3.0)/ Window interface to Hydrological Simulation Program-FORTRAN (WinHSPF) was applied for assessment of North Han River watershed. WinHSPF calibration was performed using monitoring data from 2003 to 2005 to simulate stream flow. Calibration results were reasonably matched with observed data in stream flow. Some errors in the model results were caused by the lack of measured watershed data, hydraulic structure data and meterological data.

The first law of thermodynamics restrictively works for an isolated system instead of the universe. Thus, a world view for the origin of the universe should be expressed when the first law is described for the universe. Here we suggest an appropriate expression of the first law in Scriptural world view based on the "two step dogma for the nature", that is. step 1 - the universe was created by the supernatural divine works of God, and step 2 - it has been kept by natural operations. Both the divine works and natural operations imply consistently the Great Love of God since the universe was created by the Words of God. Thus the Bible is an excellent bible of science. The interpretation of the nature in Scriptural world view can be guaranteed in scientific methodology by ``the correspondence principle`` because the Scriptural value governs completely all of natural phenomena in the universe.
