Colonoscopy is a safe and extremely popular diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. The most common complications are bleeding and perforation. Hemoperitoneum is a rare complication after a colonoscopy and is usually associated with splenic injury or solid organ pathology. This is potentially serious and can be life threatening. With the increasing number of colonoscopies performed, there has also been an increasing trend in reports of rare complications, such as pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, appendicitis, small bowel perforation, septicemia, mesenteric tear, retroperitoneal abscess, and hemoperitoneum. This paper reports a unique case of hemoperitoneum after a recent colonoscopy without a splenic rupture or intra-abdominal abnormality, or external trauma. Most hemoperitoneum occurs within 48 hours after the inciting colonoscopy. In the present case, however, hemoperitoneum appeared 10 days after the colonoscopy. This case emphasizes that physicians should consider hemoperitoneum in a differential diagnosis of abdominal pain in patients after colonoscopy. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2020;76:246-250)

This paper presents a machinability evaluation of Inconel 718 material when using a new uniform-temperature indirect cooling method that incorporates constant-pressure liquid nitrogen (LN2). The flank wear of a TiAlN coated tool used with this indirect cooling system was much lower than that of the tool used with dry machining under all machining conditions. Also, the surface roughness resulting from machining with this indirect method was far less than that of a dry machined surface after the same cutting time. Reduced heat generation and uniform temperature in turning operations play important roles in tool life and surface quality.

The industrial safety helmets are personal protective equipment (PPE), used to protect the head against falls from a height. This study indicated the necessity of wearing a safety helmet while working at heights below 4 m, through analysis of fall accidents occurring in the industrial field. The stress, displacement, and strain of the safety helmet shell structure have been analyzed using the finite element method with various thicknesses, engineering plastics, and designs. It was preferred that the safety helmet shell structure had a reinforcement frame of uniform thickness in terms of increased impact strength and strain energy absorption rate. The thickness can be reduced to lighten the total weight for workers wearing safety helmets.
건강행태와 이상지질혈증이 중년남성의 고요산혈증에 미치는 영향: 제8기 국민건강영양조사(2019~2021년) 자료를 이용하여

이 연구는 건강행태와 이상지질혈증이 우리나라 중년남성의 고요산혈증에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 시도하였다. 연구 자료는 전국을 대상으로 조사한 ‘국민건강영양조사 제8기(2019~2021), 질병관리청’을 주 자료로 사용하였다. 표본추출은 우리나라 전국을 대상으로 확률비례추출법으로 하였고, 건강행태와 이상지질혈증이 중년남성의 고요산혈증에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해 남성 45~64세 2,471명을 최종 연구대상자로 선정하였다. 연구에 사용한 변수는 선행연구를 토대로 연령, 혼인상태, 거주지, 교육수준, 소득수준, 월간음주율, 현재흡연율, HDL-C, TG, LDL-C 등 총 10문항으로 구성하였다. 분석 결과 연구대상자의 일반적 특성에서 고요산혈증은 연령 중 45~49세보다 50~54세가 많았고, 거주지 중 시골의 거주자보다 도시의 거주자가 많았다. 건강행태에서 고요산혈증은 월간음주율 중 음주자가 비음주자보다 많았고, 현재흡연율 중 흡연자가 비흡연자보다 많았다. 이상지질혈증에서 고요산혈증은 HDL-C 중 < 40mg/dL이 ≥ 40mg/dL보다 많았고, TG 중 ≥ 200mg/dL가 < 200mg/dL보다 많았다. 그러므로, 정부는 중년남성을 대상으로 고요산혈증 예방을 위한 보건교육 프로그램 등을 운영하여 건강습관 형성과 이상지질혈증 방지를 위한 인식을 강화해 준다면, 중년남성의 만성질환 예방과 삶의 질 향상에 조금이나마 도움이 될 것이다. This study was undertaken to determine the effects of health behaviors and dyslipidemia on hyperuricemia in middle-aged Korean men. The study was performed using data from the Eighth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES Ⅷ 2019~2021) conducted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. The study utilized probability proportional sampling and was designed to represent the entire country. 2,471 men aged 45 to 64 were selected as study subjects. The relevant portion of the survey consisted of 10 questions, which included age, marital status, residence, education level, income level, monthly drinking rate, current smoking rate, HDL-C, TG, and LDL-C. Hyperuricemia was more prevalent in those aged 50 to 54 than in those aged 45 to 49 and in urban residents rather than rural residents. In terms of health behaviors, hyperuricemia was higher in drinkers than in non-drinkers based on monthly drinking rates and among smokers than non-smokers based on current smoking rates. Regarding dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia was more common among those with an HDL-C level of < 40 mg/dL than those with a level of ≥ 40 mg/dL, and among those with a TG level of ≥ 200 mg/dL than those with a TG level of < 200 mg/dL. A governmental health education program designed to reduce hyperuricemia in middle-aged men would increase awareness of the benefits of healthy lifestyle habits, help prevent dyslipidemia, augment efforts targeting chronic diseases, and improve the quality of life of middle-aged men.
황금비율과 미적 관점에서 본 아시아 종족의 귀에 대한 해부학적 연구

사람 몸에서 황금비율을 보이는 여러 구조들 중에서 귀를 선택하여 비율을 확인하였다. 조사 대상은 태국, 미얀마, 중국 고산지역의 동남아시아 종족인 아카족, 라후족 및 한국인을 대상으로 하여 생체 얼굴 옆면사진을 촬영한 후 귓불을 포함한 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우로 나누어 귀의 가로길이와 세로길이를 측정하였다. 귀둘레(helix) 비율은 귀조가비(auricular concha)를 시작점으로 하여 귀둘레(helix)를 따라 곡선으로 표시한 후 곡선을 포함하는 사각형을 작도한 후 사각형을 분할하였다. 분할된 사각형을 파이매트릭스(Phi-matrix software, version 1.1)를 이용하여 계측하여 각각의 비율을 조사한 결과 귀둘레(helix) 곡선의 비율과 귓불을 제외한 귀의 윤곽의 가로 세로비율은 오차범위 이내에서 황금비를 따르는 것으로 나타났으며 귓불을 포함시킨 경우 각 개인별 귓불 길이에 의한 비율이 다르게 나타났다. We observed and measured the structures showing the golden ratio in human body. Southeast Asian tribes, Aka and Lahu who live in Thailand, Miyanmar and China mountain areas and Koreans were examined by means of facial photography. The pictures of lateral facial view were taken by the fixed method. Then the length and width of auricles were measured by Phi-matrix software (version 1.1) on the scanned images. Helix ratio were also obtained by the same method. As a results, the ratio of the ear of Southeast Asian tribes showed the golden ratio and the racial and the individual differences were noticed a little.
