Vol.8 No.1

This study is planned to gather necessary data for setting up a system on students' health care in the university. In order to obtain statistical data on the students' health care problems especially in 'depression' among the mental health problems of the students, 'The Beck Depression Inventory' by A. T. Beck and 'Zung's Self-Rating Depression Scale' by W. W. K. Zung were used for gathering numerical data of scale of depression. It is evident that we have to prepare for further medical examination and health care educations for several students. For these students, it is clear that they have problems not only in mental health but also in physical health. I have screened out the high scored students for comparison and analysis. And it disclosed that we have to build up a periodical and continuous 'Health Screening System' utilizing Health Questionnaire for both physical and mental aspects, which will bring up us the very exact result to pick out any person who has healthy problem among the enormous number of the students with handy, convenient and effective procedures but with the least expense and effort. Also it is my firm confidence that this system will be applicable for primary health care control of mass population in local community or any organization.

      • Pick-and-Put Simulation with a Redundant Manipulator under Teleoperation

Vol.1 No.1

Operator-in-the-loop simulation is applied to pick-and-put operation with a redundant manipulator. The concept of supervisory control has been used to switch between teleoperation and autonomous operation: autonomous operation for fine, local motion control, and teleoperation for large, gross motion and force control. The simulation includes the manipulator's kinematics and its open-and closed-chain dynamics under position and force control. They are integrated with a pair of joystick hand controllers and computer graphics. Since the hand controllers specify the desired position and orientation of the end-effector, the inverse kinematics adopted an iterative use of the resolved-motion rate control in which the constraint Jacobian is constructed on-line and is used in the pseudo-inverse method. An efficient recursive algorithm is then used for the manipulator dynamics. Rear-time simulation is carried out on a two-processor IRIS workstation, with one processor for dynamics and control computation and the other for graphic visualization. The simulation shows a potential for previewing the planned operations, examining task performance, investigating control strategy, and evaluating the overall system integration.

Vol.16 No.2

676 persons of woman students among the 770 who were requested to answer the CMI questionnaire completed the CMI from arranged in KOREAN between June and July, 1979 at the D-Univeristy in BUSAN. Each item answered on the CMI questionnaire was carefully analyzed in statistical method with help of the specialist. The results of analysis are as follows; 1. The average complaints number of CMI Score of the total 676 persons are 38.84. 2. The highest item in CMI Score is section M(Inadquacy) showing 41.68% of the respondents. 3. The lowest item in CMI Score is section K(Miscellaneous Disease) showing 5.55% of the respondents. 4. Numbers and ratio of the respondents whose CMI scores are more than half of each section is as below. Therefore, it is the conclusion that: a) Almost one-fourth or more of the students are required for special care in medical and administration of the student in university regarding the sections of A(eyes and ears), I(Fatigability), M(Inadquacy), N(Depression), P9Sensitivity) ad Q(Anger). b) Especially in section M(Inadquacy), it is almost half of the students whose score is more than half of the section. c) The Psvchological Sections(M-R) have too high rate(12.65%) comparing with the Physical Sections(A-L)which is less than 1% in total whose scores in each section exceed half o f section's score. d) Consequently, it is required to take measures to improve students' health problems in above-mentioned sections.

      • A Comparison Study on Health Questionnaire in Assessing Depression Scale using several questionnaire forms

Vol.1 No.-

This study is purposed to find out an easy and a handy tool to use for setting up a practical scheme and method of selecting out physically and/or mentally unhealthy persons from the enormous number of students in order to arrange their medical treatment. The questionnaire were made out in a sheet from three kinds of popular health questionnaire as below: Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) Cornell Medical Index (CMI) Zung's Self Rating Depression Scale (SDS) Total 252 sheets of questionnaire were filled out by the students and 244 sheets were used for statistical and analystical data after discarding 8 sheets of incompletely prepared questionnaire. Upon comparison of assorted data of each questionnaire, it is revealed that every questionnaire have almost same numbers and trend for each class of score rating. In conclusion, all of these three questionnaire are very identical in result as the tools for collective medical diagnosis for student. However, considering the readability and easiness on filling up the questionnaire, it is my opinion that Beck Depression Inventory is the most convenient among these questionnaire.

      • Cornell Medical Index

Vol.18 No.1

A health survey was undertaken to investigate the general health of the students in college and high school in Busan and comparison of its details was made between the two groups of students. Also this survey has the purpose of finding out any helpful information useful for building up an effective plan for health care of the students in administration of the college. In this survey, 541 high school students and 673 college students were involved, their ages varying in range from 14 years old to 23 years old. (14∼17 years old for high school and 18∼23 years old for college). The instrument used in this survey was The Cornell Medical Inex (Questionaire) for women translated into Korean language. As a result, the following facts were revealed by this survey: 1) On physical items, there were no specific differences between the two groups. Average complaints of college students were 24.69 and that of high school students 23.55. 2) In mental items, we can see that 15.59 scores of average complaints of high school students werw significantly higher than that of college students viz. 14.00 (t=3.017, p<0.01). 3) For total average complaints score of physical and mental items, there were no significant difference between college students (38.69) and high school students(39.14). 4) In comparison of mental items, the highest group were 14 years old (45.86) and the lowest were 18 years old(30.88). 5) Comparison by each item: a) Item D (Digestive tract) were the highest item in average score of complaints for both groups. However, the scores of the college students were significantly higher than that of the high school students (t=3.482, p<0.01). b) Item M (Inadequacy) were also the highest item for both groups but that of the high school students werw significantly higher than the college students)t=2.401, p<0.05). 6) There were very high correlation between the complaints between the items of physical and mental. CONCLUSION: We can see that college students' complaints were comparatively high in physical items but low in mental items. It means that the physical state of the college students worsened. Therefore, we need to arrange an effective counter-measure in administration of the university against the degeneration of the physical health of the college students.

Vol.3 No.-

In order to set up a "Health Care System" which is organized to promote students' health and environment for educations on public health, it is highly recommended that we should establish a system to pick out a person who has shown high problem scores among the whole students, for appropriate medical care, through the Collective Health Screen Process using various "Health Scaling Tools". For this purpose, I have carried out studies and analysis in order to prove that many of the precedent studies have confirmed the effectiveness and the reliability of using health sealing toos to evaluate each member of the group such as the students in the college through the actual investigation, inspection, analysis and verification. It is my firm confidence that any one of these kinds of health scaling tools can be easily carried out, with minimum effort and expenses but with very high effectiveness and reliability, its aim to find out any unhealthy student to support our health e\care system. I am strongly suggest to establish a system to carry out systematic and regular "Collective Health Screening Process" using Health Scaling Toos and medical support on treatment for the student who has been find out as unhealthy.
