This study is to understand the market status of the US (the biggest plus-size fashion market) as well as analyze women`s fashion shown in power blogs on the plus-size fashion trend. For research methods, photos from the top 10 globally ranked plus-size power blogs on Alexa.com were collected and divided into 5 plus-size body types based on: design factors, style, color, item, and texture. Pants with tops or completed outfits including pants, tops, and outer were the most common for casual styles; in addition, a tendency to pursue comfortable and naturally fitted clothes was also indicated. As for colors, the most common were blue colors and white or pastel toned colors; in addition, soft, hard, and transparent were all evenly used for materials. One-piece items were the most popular formal style that were mostly a onetone color made with hard materials indicated by the pursuit of the fanciness and formality of a dress for a formal occasion. Black was the most common color, and the color variation was less diverse compared to that of casual styles. The most common for semi-formal styles were outfits with movability and more fanciness such as wearing a casual outer on top of a formal one-piece. When examining the fashion in plus-size blogs, there are differences in the frequency of design factors due to the diversity of body-types; in addition, different items were shown to be preferred in accordance with styles. The results of this study will help fashion companies who want to enter the global plus-size women`s fashion market (including the US market); in addition, research on plus-size fashion that is changing the fashion and aesthetic paradigm is expected to contribute to academia.

원자재 ETN의 공시 및 상장이 기초자산 시장에 미치는 영향

본 논문에서는 국내 상장지수증권(exchange-traded note; ETN)의 도입이 기초자산 시장에 미치는 영향을 발행공시일과 상장일로 구분하여 확인하였다. 기준일을 전후로 기초자산의 수익률, 거래량, 가격변동성, 체계적 위험에 유의한 변화가 있는지 살펴보는 사건연구의 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과, 선행문헌과는 달리 공시일, 상장일 주변에서 수익률의 신호효과는 발견되지 않았으며, 헤징효과와 시장완전화효과 역시 미미하게만 발견되었다. 공시일과 상장일 사이에서는 유의한 수익률 증가가 나타나 가격조작효과가 있음을 확인했다. 거래량의 경우, 헤징효과와 가격조작의 영향이 유의하게 나타났으며, 약한 신호효과를 발견하였다. 상장일 이후로는 정보거래자효과 역시 유의하게 확인되었다. 가격안정성 측면에서, 변동성은 음의 변화를 보였지만 통계적으로 유의미한 감소는 나타나지 않았으며, 체계적인 위험은 공시일을 전후로 유의하게 감소하는 것을 발견하였다. 이러한 분석결과는 선행연구의 결과와 차이가 있는데, 이는 상장지수증권의 기초자산 시장인 원자재 선물이 활발히 거래되는 상품이고, 유사한 기초자산을 갖는 ETF 등 파생상품이 이미 국내시장에 존재하기 때문으로 판단된다. 또한, 기초자산에 대한 직접적 거래가 어렵고, ETN 발행의 주체인 증권사의 거래규모가 기초자산 시장규모에 비해 미미한 수준이었기 때문으로 해석할 수 있다 This study examines how the announcement and listing of ETNs (exchange-traded notes) affect the return, volume, volatility, and systematic risk of their underlying assets. Our simple event study analyses show that there is no significant evidence for the existence of the signaling effect regarding the return changes, whereas the price manipulation effect and partial evidence for the hedging and market completeness effects are found. In addition, our analyses using the trading volume indicate the hedging, price manipulation, and informed trader effects and a subtle degree of the signaling effect. We also examine changes in the return volatility around the event dates. We find the decrease in volatility, but it is not statistically significant. Finally, our study confirms a significant decrease in the systematic risk after the announcement.

국제회계기준 도입과 신종자본증권 발행: 생명보험사와 손해보험사를 중심으로

본 연구는 생명보험사와 손해보험사로 구분되는 국내 보험회사의 표본을 대상으로 신종자본증권 발행의 동기와 결정요인을 분석한다. 소표본 분석에 적합한 희귀사건 로지스틱 모형을 추정하였으며, 분석결과, 전기(q-1)의 자본적정성 지표가 낮거나 부실자산 비율이 높은 보험사일수록 당기(q)에 신종자본증권을 발행할 확률이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 생명보험사의 경우, 지급여력비율이 낮을 때 신종자본증권을 발행할 유인이 증가하며, 이는 생명보험사가 주로 국제회계기준 도입으로 인한 자본적정성 기준을 고려하여 해당 증권의 발행을 결정한다는 것을 의미한다. 한편, 손해보험사는 부실자산 비율이 높은 경우의 신종자본증권 발행확률이 높으며, 이는 손해보험사의 경우 자본확충 등의 목적으로 해당 증권을 발행함을 암시한다. 본 연구는 과도한 신종자본증권 발행이 장기적으로는 보험회사의 재무구조를 악화시킬 가능성이 있음을 지적하며, 합리적인 규제와 보험사 유형을 구분한 관리와 감독이 보험회사의 신종자본증권 발행 규율을 강화하고 재무건전성을 개선하는 데 도움이 될 수 있음을 제언한다. This study investigates the Korean domestic insurance industry and reveals the determinant factors of insurance companies’ decisions to issue hybrid bonds. Employing the logistic regression with rare events, we find that some financial solvency indicators affect insurance companies’ hybrid bond issuances in the near future. Particularly, life insurance companies issue hybrid bonds when their risk-based capital ratios are low, indicating that these companies decide issuances considering the imminent regulatory changes in the international financial accounting standards, which is the IFRS 17, and the K-ICS. Non-life insurance companies choose to issue the bonds when their risk-weighted non-performing assets ratios are low, to improve their asset quality. In addition, this study points out some potential side-effects of excessive issuances and proposes to reinforce the supervisory regulations.
