This thesis study on gender issues appeared in Pam Gems’s play Queen Christina, identifying correspondence between the 17th-century queen of Sweden and the successive feminist movement. Focusing on her transformation from a masculine-identified icon of patriarchy into an untamed rebel against political and sexual conservatism, Gems reinterprets the value of the famous woman’s life and searches for the appropriation for women in the modern world. Gems, as she rejected identifying herself as a radical feminist, doesn’t privilege any specific political position. She tries to dramatize the human reality of women who have been sacrificed by the patriarchal pressures of society. For this purpose, she uses comedy, which is helpful for revealing the potential fluidity of gender boundaries. In addition, the life of the historical figure epitomizes the crisis of modern women, confusing the images of traditional feminity with the feminist assertion of equality and sexual freedom. Christina, the spokesperson for women and Gems, provides that a valid definition can only be reached through the creation of a society more suited to both sexes. (Chonbuk National University)
음악의 디지털 건축디자인 적용을 위한 알고리즘기반 비정형 형태생성에 관한 연구

The degree of "auditory impression" through music was subject to relative measurement based on personal tastes. However, the advance of digital technology has enabled to quantify and typify the sizes of auditory impression. Various digital technologies such as parametric are applied for transformation into other sensational elements, leading to the development of elemental technologies to generate forms in association with architectural theories. This study is aimed to suggest an architectural methodology to materialize auditory impression of music as spatial impression in architecture. At the same time, the relations with BIM model was described for effective Collaboration among AEC industry subjects. This is to prepare and review reasonable design alternatives by minimizing time and efforts required when an architect designs through digital tools. It is also expected that architectural data based on the design methodology suggested in this paper will be a basis for data exchange between participants in the architectural design process.

Equol has beneficial effects on human health. Fermented soy products contain equol, and many microbes participate in the equol production process. This study investigated fermented Korean soybean paste, doenjang. Thirty seven doenjang samples collected from different manufacturers were examined. Equol was detected in 3 samples (D2, D13, and D19) at the maximum content of 507 ng/100 g by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Fifteen microbial species were isolated and identified by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Bacillus spp, Paenibacillus spp, Tetragenococcus spp, Stapylococcus spp, and Clostridium species were the predominant bacteria in equol containing doenjang samples.

This study focuses on the violence in The Love of Nightingale by Timberlake Wertenbaker. It examines two generally recognized premises on violence: inevitability and impulsiveness. It also reveals their fallacies and seeks the solution. This work shows violent scenes, which are designed to lead to the height of the conflict. Violence in the work is the main axis of the conflict or the conflict-solving element. But she uses the theatrical strategies of witnessing and questioning, which keep audience from being absorbed in the violence. The former makes the audience watch the process, the action and the result of violence, and testify them. Many pauses are inserted in the scenes for the purpose of giving the audience time to ponder about the violence. Witnessing causes audience to realize that violence can produce an innocent victim and the audience themselves can be involved in it. The Latter leads them to question themselves and reconsider which violence can be justified and what can justify it even if the violence happens impulsively. (Chosun University)
