공감을 위한 지리와 스토리텔링

이야기하기는 소설, 희곡 등의 문학 작품으로부터 애니메이션, 영화, 컴퓨터게임, 광고, 디자인, 홈쇼핑, 테마파크, 스포츠, 구술적 이야기 등의 매체로 오늘날 확장되어 이를‘스토리텔링’이라고 일컫게 되었다. 오늘날 우리의 일상이 노는 이야기가 주된 화제이며 스토리텔링은 궁극적으로 공감하기 위한 하나의 방법이다. 대중은 지도나 그래프, 표 등의 읽기를 통하여 지리가 이해되기 보다는 오히려 다양한 매체에 의한 지리의 스토리텔링을 갈구하고 있는지 모른다. 이 연구는 지리가 대중과 공감되기 위하여‘지리를 위한 스토리텔링’의 시나리오 작성 예를 제시하고자 한다. 시나리오 작성 사례로는 문화지리 주제인‘합강문화제’와 자연지리 주제인‘영춘 하안단구’이다. 소설, 희곡 등의 장르와 같이 발단, 전개, 결말의 구성으로 전개되고 이야기 구조는 주인공과 등장인물과 배경으로 이루어지게 된다. 지리해설사와 지리투어참가자들이 등장인물로 등장하고 지리가 하나의 배경이 되는 시나리오로 각색되었다. 지리적 주제의 스토리텔링에 관한 연구는 이제 초보적인 수준에 머물고 있다. 시나리오 작성은 대중들이 더 흥미를 가지고 지리적 사실을 접할 수 있게 하고, 지리 스토리텔링 속에서 대중들은 지리와의 공감을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 것이다. A storytelling in geographical communication with public is effective, which be termed as a substitute for writing story. A postmodern daylife filled with playing is required to be empathic attitude that become a new viewpoint about human nature. Public may desire the storytelling in geography, because they so not like to read maps, graphs, and tables with geographical analysis. This study tries to suggest why storytelling in geographical themes is required, and how two samples can be storytellinged by making out scenario. The one is Hapgang festival, the other is Youngchun river terrace. The scenario of storytelling in geography is composed of beginning, development, and final, and it can be stucturalized with hero as geographical interpreter and geotourist as dramatis. By the scenario the geographical drama, movie, and advertisement can be produced, which can interest public in geography. Public is in empathy with people in place, region, landscape, space, relationship with environment.

Effective design of a database is essential for operating application systems efficiently. This paper discusses database design for a geographic information system. This goals of database design are multiple: to satisfy the information content requirements of the specified users and applications; to provide a natural and easy-to-understand structuring of the information; and to support processing requirements and any performance objectives such as response time, processing time, and storage space. Database design is a very complex process and is decomposed in three phases: conceptual, logical, and physical design. In this paper, we first collect and analyze the requirements for a geographic information system. We also perform database design for these requirements through the three design phases systematically. Our results would contribute to the effective construction of a database for a geographic information system.

[논문] 경관 풍수의 본질과 명당의 선정 기준: 북한강 유역을 중심으로 하여

이 연구는 풍수지리에서 말하는 生氣란 무엇이며, 生氣가 넘치는 터는 어떤 곳이며, 그리고 生氣 넘치는 터를 선정하는 기준이 무엇인지에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 생기에 대한 해명, 생기가 넘치는 터 등은 『청오경ㆍ금낭경』등의 문헌 연구를 하였으며, 생기가 넘치는 터, 이른바 명당을 선정하기 위한 기준이 북한강 유역을 중심으로 한 다수 묘소의 야외조사에서 제시되었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 生氣라고 하는 것은 ‘바람에 의하여 잘 순환되는 기체 상태로 대기 중에 존재하는 수증기 혹은 습기’이며 명당은 ‘바람에 의하여 잘 순환되는 기체 상태로 대기 중에 존재하는 수증기 혹은 습기가 오랜 시간 동안 일정한 온도 아래 장기간 유지될 수 있는 곳’이다. 이러한 정의에 따르면 명당은 장풍과 득수가 이루어지는 곳이다. 生氣는 안산과 조산ㆍ들, 물길과 수구, 산모습, 짜임새, 정향, 용의 흐름과 입수, 주산, 좌청룡ㆍ우백호, 각 산의 앞 뒤 품격, 혈처의 모습 등의 10가지 기준이 충족되는 곳에 모이게 된다. 명당의 주위에 인위적으로 조성된 숲은 증발산 양을 조절할 수 있으며 방습의 역할을 할 수 있다고 본다. Senggi means the vapor in the air under the temperature, which is collected around the place equipped with the criteria. Jangpung and Duksu principle is applied to find out the place. This paper discusses about the criteria choosing the place or site characterized by landscape geomancy that consist of peace mountain and facing mountain, water and water discharge, symbolic mountain peak, compact arrangement of river and mountain, orientation, sharp entrance slope, guarding main mountain, tiger and dragon mountain, harmony, flat bright yard.

수치지도를 이용한 지도, 지도첩의 제작에 관한 연구

Maps are graphic representations of the cultural and physical environment. Two subclasses of maps exist general-purpose (reference) maps and thematic maps. This paper concerns the reference map and the atlas making, which are dased on the digital maps. The reason why the maps produced by geographic information system are reproduced is that the atlas making by scriber cartographers is very expensive and not easy. We can use the reference digital maps with the graphic tools. It acquire to deal fo us the GIS tool and the grapic tool skilfully. This paper introduces the process to make the reference maps by Maplnfo and Corel Draw, and to make the atlas, showing the good harmony in combination with the thematic maps in characters, symbols, lines and colors designed by Corel Draw. The atlas making has close relationships with the layout in the book design that lead to solutions in the cartographic communication. In addition to that this paper shows the printed two pages of the atlas.

사진에 의한 지지 기술의 가능성과 의의: 「광주향토사진첩」을 중심으로

This study is to investigate the publishing background and the contents of a Book of Photographs about Gwangju area (1959), and is to propose the regional geography with photographs. The book had 730 photos (figures 549, architecture and landscape 181), which composed with 24 regional topics. The book helps geographers write the regional study with photos, nevertheless emphasizing the history and describing the heads of the local institutions. After gathering photos including it, a Historical Photo-Geography of Gangdong (2004), the title of Photographs in the History of Gangdong is published. Two books to overcome the time lag shows the possibility of writing the regional geography with photographs because photos means the text and the influential media to communication and to convey the geographical concepts to the public.

This study shows that photogeography become a subject of geography by investigating the secondary CBD of Cheonho area with geophotos. It based on the collection of photos and photographing for a period of one year (2003-2004). The secondary CBD is interpretated with 9 photos about transportation, 12 photos about commercial services, 6 photos about resident, 9 photos about social services in Cheonho area. Some photos by photographers are not geographical events but photograpical events. But geographers have to form an idea of geographical concepts. The impressive photos with wide angles help to understand the secondary CBD, of which photographical discourse can take in place of geographical discourse. Also some geo-photos are landscape photos, and photogeography aid to study the landscape.
