Sizing agents of coplyester-g-AA/EA's were prepared. Film properties of them such as water-resistance, swellability and tensile properties were examimed. With the increase of Ah feed ratio, film became more swellable and hence less was leer-resistant. But water-resistance of copolyester-g-AA/EA's was suntient as the sizing agent for water in loom when the molar feed ratio of AA/EA was controlled between 1/1-0.1. Tensile properties such as strength, elongation and toughness of polymer film were expected to change. Film strength decreased, film elongation increased and eventually film toughness increased. SEM photographs showed the effect of baa polymerization with the tenacious feature in the rupture phase of copolyester-g-AA/EA's compared with those of AA/EA copolymers and copolyester. Tensile properties such as strength, elongation and abrasion resistance of yarns sized with copolyester-g-AA/EA's and a copolyester were examined to confirm the fasibility of commercial usage of copolyester-g-AA/EA's.

Water dispersible anionic copolyester, obtained from two dimethylester components, dimethyl isophthalate(DMD and 5-sodium such dimethyl isophthalate(DMS) and two biol components, ethylene glycol(EG) and diethylene glycol(DEG) has been synthesized and its chuacteristics as a warp sizer for polyester fabrie has been investigated. Although dispersion of copolyester in water shows lower viscosity, higher adhesive force is recognized when compared with those of aqueous solutions of commercial acrylic sizers. Increase in mole of DMS in dimethyl ester component and DEG in biol component results in the decrease of panicle size of the copolyester dispersed in water and increase of dispersion stability. And the dependence of dispersion stability on the DMS and DEG was discussed in terms of electrostatic and steric stabilization effect in connection with morphological change of particle. And also the effect of DEG content on the glass transition temperature of the copolyester and the plasticizing effect of oil which is an important factor determining the quality of the sizing process was investigated.

Water-dispersible copolyester-g-AA/EA's and AA/EA copolymers were synthesized in waler or water/ethanol solution by chemical method. Structural analyses were carried out by NMR and IR method and copolyester-g-AA/EA's were founto to be correctly synthesized. Relation between fied ratio and coirlposition ratio of AA/EA in copolyester-g-AA/EA's and AA/EA copolymers were confirmed by NMR analysis and copolyester-g-AA/EA's and AA/EA copolymers were found to be composed of more EA contents than the feed ratio of EA. The graft Yield of copolyesterlf-AA/EA's was measured by Soxhlet extraction method. With the increase of AA feed ratio, the graft yield of copolyester-g-AA/EA's increased and these phenomena are assumed to have some relation with the hydrophilic property of AA.

Anionic water dispersible copolyesters were synthesized by the polycondensation of dimethyl isophathalate (DUI)/5-sodium sulfo dimethyl isophathalate(DMS) with ethylene glycol(EG)/diethylene glycol(DEG) Molecular structure of copolyester was analyzed by means of NMR, IR and WAXD. Relation between monomer field ratio and copolymer composition was confirmed by NMR analysis and copolyesters were found to have more DEG than those expected from the fled ratio. From the solubility test, the optimum DUS content for water dispersible copolyesters was found to he 10 mol% in dimethyl esters. Water resistance of copolyesters decreased with the increase of DUS or DEG content.

Recently, industrial accidents have occurred in various patterns due to the diversity of industries and the integration of facilities. Especially, the major accidents affect broad area and result in huge loss of lives and properties. Domestic researches on techniques for keeping away from such hazardous danger have been actively performed but their activities are limited in some institutes and universities. In advanced countries, integrated management systems like Seveso Directive of EU and OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Act) of U.S.A. have been legislated along with the systematic research activities. In Korea, the integrated safety management systems called SMS(Safety Management System) and PSM(Process Safety Management) have been applied to major industries. These systems made chemical industries manage the process safety information by collecting and arranging safety data by themselves. In order to implement the system successfully, it is urgently required to prepare a tool for searching and accumulating process safety data systematically. In this study, a computerized prototype of Risk Assessment System which is essential to SMS and PSM was developed as a main system and data base as subsystem to handle safety information.

Ceramic work via clay has witnessed various methods of expression throughout the long history of mankind. Each artist has represented unique imagination and mental worlds. Among the well-known methods are pinching to simply mold manually, coiling to actively reveal an author’s intention, traditional wheeling, ultramodern plastering, surface decorating, and firing. Variable plaster mold, an advanced way of molding plastering, used in this research are divided into an outer cast deciding each work’s size and shape and an inner or subsidiary cast showing the work’s characteristics. Owing to the originally stiff manufacturing of plaster casts, lots of artists have long hesitated to use them. But this new method of changeable plaster casts with outer-cast displacement and multiple inner-cast usage may tempt any ceramic artist to give it a try. Some research works are suggested here by way of simple materials, peculiar tips of production, and an efficient method. The research samples show the applied usage of hingeless variable plaster casts as well as some applications of subsidiary casts for the expression of diverse material quality. In addition, the modules of plaster casts can permit the installation of large-size ceramic works. 흙을 매체로 하여 표현하는 도예작업은 오랜 역사를 거치면서 다양한 기법과 표현방법으로 작가들의 상상과 정신세계를 대변하여 왔다. 간단히 손으로 빚어 올리는 핀칭(pinching)에 의한 소품의 제작부터 작가의 의도를 적극적으로 드러낼 수 있는 코일링(coiling)성형과 전통적인 물레성형, 가장 현대적인 석고틀 성형기법과 여기서 파생된 표면장식 기법과 소성에 의한 방법까지 열거하면 그 방법은 셀 수 없이 많다. 본 연구에서 진행된 석고틀 주입성형법은 가변틀을 사용하여 기법적으로 진화된 형식을 제시코자 한다. 가변틀은 작품의 크기와 형태를 결정하는 외형틀과 작품의 성격을 드러내는 내형틀인 보조틀로 구분하여 기술하였다. 석고틀 성형의 태생적 한계인 제작과정의 경직성이 작가들로 하여금 석고틀 활용을 꺼리게 만드는 요인 이었다. 그러나 외형틀의 변위(變位)를 통해 기물의 형태변화를 가능케 하였고 내형틀인 보조틀의 다양한 활용법을 제시하여 석고틀 작업의 경직성을 완화시켰으며 이를 새로운 제작법으로 제안하고 결과물로서 연구작을 제시하였다. 가변틀 성형법에 쉽게 접근하기 위해서 도재상에서 간단한 도구를 채택하여 사용하였고 제작과정상의 특이사항과 효율적 제작법도 석고에 관심있는 도예가라면 충분히 이해하도록 기술하였다. 경첩이 없는 가변틀의 제작법과 응용된 사용법, 다양한 질감표현을 위한 보조틀의 관계와 활용법도 몇 가지 연구작으로 확인하였으며 나아가 석고틀의 모듈화를 통해 설치 및 적층법으로 진화된 작품의 대형화도 가능토록 진행하였다.
Tolerance effects on natural frequencies of multibody systems undergoing constant rotational motion

A general multi-body formulation to analyze the tolerance effects on the statistical property variations of natural frequencies of multi-body systems undergoing constant rotational motion is proposed in this paper. To obtain the tolerance effects, Monte-Carlo simulation method is conventionally employed. However, the Monte-Carlo simulation has serious drawbacks; spending too much computation time for the simulation and achieving very slow convergence around some dynamically unstable regions. To resolve such problems, a method employing analytical sensitivity information is suggested in this paper. To obtain the sensitivities of natural frequencies the eigenvalue problem should be differentiated with respect to a design variable. The sensitivities of mass and stiffness matrices should be calculated at the dynamic equilibrium. By employing the sensitivities of natural frequencies along with the tolerance of the design variable, the statistical property variations of the natural frequencies can be calculated.
