Vol.27 No.1

Recently, studies on effective supply chain management are finding methods to bring innovation to the supply chain from social capital, which enables the optimal positioning of resources through exchanges and allocations. Despite the attention, the factors which are actually being exchanged, how they are exchanged within buyer-supplier relationships, and how social capital contributes to the exchange is not well understood. Therefore, this study develops a model linking the social capital formed within a buyer-supplier relationship to the supply chain performance, its interactions, and the exchange process of the supply chain. Firstly, this study evaluates how social capital of BSRs in its cognitive, relational, and structural form contributes to the exchange process of the supply chain. Secondly, this study tests how the exchange processes, both relational exchange and resource exchange, contribute to supply chain performance. Further, we applied PLS-SEM methods on the data provided by a survey of 100 social enterprise purchasing managers in Korea. The results show that cognitive and structural capital contributes to both exchange processes of the supply chain. However, relational capital only affects relational exchange. Also, relational exchange contributes to supply chain performance where resource exchange does not. This study extends the supply chain management and inter-organizational social capital literature and suggests important implications for both research and practice.

There are increasing number of patients having dental treatment under outpatient general anesthesia. There were researches that studied patients treated under outpatient general anesthesia in Chonbuk National University Dental hospital between 2005~2013. However, there has been an absence of research since 2013. Therefore, the aim of this research is to study cases regarding outpatient general anesthesia visiting Chonbuk National University hospital between 2014~2017 and analyze the trends of these patients. The medical records of 409 cases from January, 2014 to December, 2017 were reviewed. From the patients" charts, data on sex, residence, visiting dates, disability status, and types and number of treatments was collected and investigated. The number of cases has increased from 86 in 2014 to 140 in 2017. Among 409 cases, 275 cases(67.2%) had disabilities, with mental disabilities consisting most of the disabilities. 192 cases were aged under 20 years old mostly with no disabilities, 142 cases were 20~39 years old mostly with mental disabilities, and 75 cases were 40 years old or more mostly with physical disabilities. The conservative treatment was performed most frequently in both disabled and non-disabled patient groups. There was an increasing trend in the number of patients treated under outpatient general anesthesia, and more than half were disabled patients. In order to meet this demand, Chonbuk National University Dental Hospital increased the number of general anesthesia pracrice. To follow this trends, the implementation of safe outpatient general anesthesia system and cooperation among teams is needed to improve the quality of treatments.

Vol.32 No.4

There have been several confirmed cases of the range expansion or habitat shifts of species due to climate change. In particular, insular organisms are more susceptible to habitat change or the introduction of invasive species than inland relatives. The purpose of this study is to collect data and monitor the phenological change and diversity of the butterfly populations on Cheongsando Island. On-site research conducted from April to October 2020 identified 476 individual butterflies of 24 species in 5 families. The dominance value of species was the highest in the family Nymphalidae with 7 species, The family Pieridae showed the largest number (208 individuals) in the collected butterfly populations. The most frequently-observed species was the Cabbage butterfly (Pieris rapae) with 125 individuals accounting for 26.3% of the total population. The monthly monitoring of the phenology in butterfly populations suggested that both species diversity and abundance were highest in September, and species richness and species diversity were highest in September, index of dominance were highest in June, and species evenness were highest in April. Among the 24 species, 17 species habitat type were grassland and food types were herb. The reason is assumed to the survey area is a mixture of arable land and flame grass communities that are not dense with forests. Compared to the neighboring areas such as Wando and Haenam, the butterfly fauna of Cheongsando has been poorly studied. Twelve species of butterflies were added through this study to the preexisting list of butterflies on Cheongsando Island. Based on the existing data and the results of this study, the number of butterflies living in Cheongsando Island was 27 species in 5 families, including 9 species of Nymphalidae, 5 species of Papilionidae, Pieridae, Lycaenidae, and 3 species of Hesperiidae. The existing data have been identified, but there are three species that were not found in this study. It is expected that this data could be used to track biodiversity changes from the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula.

Vol.33 No.4

The climate change has been impacted heavily to the diversity of many insects including moths and butterflies. Moths are important food sources for higher consumers in the food chain, especially bats and birds, and the reduction of moths will impact the species that are interacting within the food web. Here the diversity and seasonal changes of macromoths assemblages living in the warm temperate deciduous forest on Wando Arboretum was investigated. The on-site research of nocturnal macromoths from 2017 to 2020 identified 4,807 individuals, comprised of 377 species in 14 families. The dominance of species was the highest in the family of Geometridae with 121 species and 2,472 individuals, followed by Erebidae with 104 species and 998 individuals, and Noctuidae with 84 species and 642 individuals. The most frequently-observed species was the geometrid moth, Alcis angulifera with 787 individuals accounting for 16.4% of the total populations. During the study period, the decline of the total number of species and populations as well as the diversity index was observed. On the other hand, the dominance tended to increase gradually. The largest number of species and abundance were observed during late spring and early summer (May and June). Previous studies on the study area reported four species in four families in Nocturnal Lepidoptera in 1998 and 30 species in eight families in Nocturnal Lepidoptera in 2014. Combining previous studies and the present study, there are a total of 389 species in 24 families of nocturnal macrolepidoptera living in the warm temperate deciduous forest on Wando Arboretum. It was expected that the lepidopteran insects inhabiting the warm temperate deciduous forests on Wando will be much more diverse when the results of the microlepidoptera and diurnal Lepidoptera are added.

Vol.33 No.4

Although butterflies belong to the order Lepidoptera and have a relatively small number of species compared to other domestic insects, they have a close relationship to plants and are well-known for their life history, making them suitable as important ecological indicators to understand the effects of environmental changes. Recently, the expansion and movement of habitats of living things are being analyzed due to climate change. The purpose of this study is to establish basic data to understand the impact of climate and environmental changes through seasonal change and diversity analysis in the butterfly community on Gogeumdo island. As a result of a field survey from March to October 2021, a total of 800 individuals of 5 families and 38 species were identified. Species of Nymphalidae were the most abundant with 13 species, the number of individuals was the highest in Lepidoptera with 266 individuals. The five most identified species were the Eurema mandarina, which accounted for 13% of the total population with 104 individuals, next was the Corias erate, Pseudozizeeria maha, Parnara guttatus, and the Pieris rapae. These results were similar to those of Cheongsando island, a nearby island with a similar habitat. Because Gogeumdo island has a good habitat, the number of species and populations was much higher compared to nearby Wando and Cheongsando islands. Looking at the monthly changes in the number of species and population, it increased from March to June, then showed a tendency to decrease in July and August, and again peaked in September and then decreased in October. This downward trend in July and August is thought to have occurred in July and August in 2021 due to more precipitation than normal. In addition, the species abundance and diversity index were similar to the monthly changes in the species and individual numbers. On Gogeumdo island, there were 9 species of living organisms managed by the Ministry of Environment. The data investigated in this study was used as the basic data to identify and evaluate the impact of future climate change or environmental change.

Vol.30 No.3

The Lepidoptera, butterflies and moths are a diverse and abundant insect group. They are closely associated with plants, being most efficient pollinators of flowers in addition to possessing other important ecological indicators. Recently, insects newly found in the southern region Korea and their monitoring has become more important. Because the size and habitat of living organisms in the islands are limited compared to the mainland, the composition of existing species may change due to introduced species from other areas. The basic data on butterflies should be collected on the island of Wando so that the influences of climate change will identify the process of change such as the introduction of new species and the reduction of existing species. The present study aimed to investigate the local butterfly fauna and temporal change during a year on the island of Wando, Jeollanamdo. Butterfly collecting was carried out using nets from April to November, 2017.A total of 37 species and 300 individuals in 5 families were identified. Species of Nymphalidae were the most abundant with 20 species and 168 individuals, followed by Papilionidae(5 species and 49 individuals), Hesperiidae(5 species and 19 individuals), Lycaenidae(4 species and 37 individuals) and Pieridae(3 species and 27 individuals), respectively. A Papilionidae butterflies, Papilio maackii were the most abundant species capturedin this study. Monthly fluctuations in butterfly species richness and abundance were noted in a hump-shaped curve with high peaks in August. With previous records and the present study, a total of 81 species were noted on Wando. The Species of Nymphalidae were the most abundant with 41 species, followed by Lycaenidae(13 species), Hesperiidae(12 species), Papilionidae(9 species), respectively. The proportion of southern species was higher than the northern species, reflecting the warm climate characteristics of Wando. Through this research, we have identified Neptis philiroides, which was not found in the previous existing literature records. In addition,we identified two climate change indicator species of Eurema mandarina, Dichorragia nesimachus, and one candidate species of Curetis acuta, which are now noted by the Ministry of Environment.

Effect of Homogenization Pressure on Plasmin Activity and Mechanical Stress-Induced Fat Aggregation of Commercially Sterilized Ultra High Temperature Milk during Storage

Commercially sterilized ultra high temperature (UHT) milk was manufactured at different homogenization pressures (20, 25, and 30 MPa), and changes in fat particle size, mechanical stress-induced fat aggregation, plasmin activity, and lipid oxidation were monitored during ambient storage of the UHT milk for up to 16 wk. The particle sizes of milk fat globules were significantly decreased as homogenization pressure increased from 20 to 30 MPa (p<0.05). The presence of mechanical stress-induced fat aggregates in milk produced at 20 MPa was significantly higher than for UHT milk produced at either 25 or 30 MPa. This difference was maintained all throughout the storage. There were no significant differences in plasmin activity, trichloroacetic acid (12%, w/v) soluble peptides, and the extent of lipid oxidation. Based on these results, an increase of homogenization pressure from 20 (the typical homogenization pressure employed in the Korea dairy industry) to 25-30 MPa significantly decreased mechanical stress-induced fat aggregation without affecting susceptibility to lipid oxidation during storage.
