Vol.21 No.2
This study aims to analyze university students' (at post-adolescence) stress-coping ways and characteristics by means of Q-methodology which serves to define their subjective feelings, experiences and opinions. 40 male and female undergraduate students(2nd-4th year) attending local universities were randomly chosen for this research. The 25 Q-sentences were given to them to verify how they deal with stress. It turned out that their stress-coping ways are mainly featured by four types. Based on the characteristics, these can be named as follows: the first type〓'Positive resources utilization', the second type〓'Negative resources dependence', the third type〓'Passive avoidance' and the last one〓'Aggressive desperation'. The results show that their stress-coping ways can be classified according to personality and environment factors. T1 and T2 refer to positive thinking and attitude, the others(T3, T4) negative ones. On the other hand, this research reveals. that all types of unversity students have common desires to overcome stress, to reach adulthood successfully and to develop resources. It is meaningful that this study can be used to seek social welfare intervention policy for post-adolescents' entry into successful adulthood by developing their internal resources and external ones.
