신혜영(Shin, Hae Young),김지현(Kim, Jihyun) 한국생활과학회 2020 한국생활과학회지 Vol.29 No.6
The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of daily hassles and self-resilience on children’s happiness. Overall, there were 129(61 boys, 68 girls/77 4th graders, 52 5th graders) subjects from one elementary school in Seoul. Instruments included the Children’s Daily Hassles(Kim & Park, 2006), the Resilience Scale for Children(RSC: Ju & Lee, 2007), and the Happiness Scale(Cho et al., 2009). The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, and F-test using the SPSS 23.0 software program. The major results are as follows: According to the analysis of the general tendency of measurement variables, the sex difference was one of the factors in defining children’s happiness: girls were happier than boys. Therefore, in the subsequent analysis, we searched individual effect by separating the sex of the children. As a result, for boys the main effects(daily hassles and self-resilience) and the interaction effect on their happiness were significant: there was a significant moderating effect of self-resilience: the self-resilience could moderate the impact of daily hassles on children’s happiness. On the other hand, for girls, only the main effect(self-resilience) on their happiness was observed. Based on the results, the implications of this study have been discussed.

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of childrens resilience and teacher-student relationship on school adjustment. The subjects were 189 (91 boys, 98 girls/113 4th graders, 76 5th graders) children at one private elementary school in Seoul. The instruments used included Resilience Scale for Children(RSC: Ju & Lee, 2007), Teacher-Student Relationship Scale (TSRS: Yi, 2014), and School Adjustment Scale for Late School-Aged Children (Joe, 2014). The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, pearson’s correlation analysis, and hierarchial regression using the SPSS 23.0 software program. The major results were as follows. First, the resilience’s sub-domains(self-efficacy, positive support relationship, and control) and teacher-student relationship’s sub-area (conflict) were found to affect children’s school adjustment. Secondly, there were some significant moderating effects on teacher-student relationship: teacher-student relationship (intimacy, conflict, and dependence) could moderate the impact of resilience (patience of negative emotions and self-efficacy) on children’s school adjustment. Based on the results, the implications of this study were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to explore the differences in childrens happiness according to the type of relationships with mother, peer, and teacher. The subjects were 167 children (80 boys, 87 girls; 99 4th graders, 68 5th graders) at one private elementary school in Seoul. Test methods included the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised(IPPA-R; Armsden & Greenberg, 1987), Teacher-Student Relationship Scale(TSRS; Pianta, 1991), and Happiness Scale for School-aged Korean Children(HSSKC; Choi et al., 2009). The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA using the SPSS 23.0 software program. The results showed that the clusters on the IPPA-R and the TSRS could be sorted into four categories secure/high conflict (peer attachment low & teacher-child conflict high), secure/low conflict(peer attachment high & teacher-child conflict low), and combined (peer attachment medium & teacher-child conflict low). In addition, significant group differences were found in childrens happiness scores and related sub-domains scores except extracurricular activities area.
