        The purpose of this research was to trace the trends in the research subjects related to housing for the elderly in Korea, U.S.A, and Japan. One hundred sixty eight researches were selected from six research journals besides Masters' and Ph. D theses published in Korea, 164 from five research journals and three research subject-lists in Japan, and 124 from three research journals in U.S.A. There were some common research areas of the elderly housing among the three countries such as facilities required for the elderly housing, general issues of the elderly housing, etc. There was some differences in the research areas. For instance, intergenerational coresidence was mainly studied in Korea. The results showed that housing policies as well as research methods related to the elderly housing are beginning areas and must be further developed to meet the rising needs of housing for the elderly in Korea.

      • 韓國과 日本의 高校 家政敎科書의 比較檢討

        In order to get the best way to improve the high-school textbooks of home-economics in korea we compared 5 high-school textbooks of "Home-economics" published in korea with 5 high-school textbooks of "General home-economics" published in Japan. We foud out that the texbooks of both countries showed a number of differences on the education program, the structure of textbooks, the importance of housing chapter and so on. 1) The Japanes textbooks were written by average 17 persons but the koreans are written by average 9 persons though the korean textbooks were about I. 4 times thicker than the Japanese ones. 2) Most writers of korean textbooks are professors, but Japanese writers are composed of high-school teachers. As a whole, the participation ratio of practical teacher is relatively high in Japan. 3) The ratio of housing part in the textbooks is 11-12% in Japan. In Japan, the ratio is different according to each publishing company. 4) The percentage of the cut(tables & figures) presented in housing part is 10-21% in korean textbook, and in 30-48% in Japanese textbooks. That is, Japanese textbooks, the ratio of suggesting materials(tables & figures) and the effect of visual education is relatively high. 5) In Korean textbooks, all the chapter, section, and chause are set up regardless publishing companies under the high-school curriculum. In Japan, however, each content of the textbooks is diverse, let alone the title of each chapter according to their writers. 6) As for housing facilities, size of house, condition of location of house, repairment or improvement of house, korean textbooks are described by the archiect's point but the Japanese ones are described by the residence's point of view. In future the advantages shown at the Japanese textbook may be used for editing our high-school textbook. And it will be necessary to pay more attention to select the contents of the high-schcol textbook, especially to decide the author of housing part of the textbook of home-economics. The exhibit 12 shows a disirabe contents of housing part of the textbook of home-economics. On behalf of architect high school teacher's participation to edit the text book is ecommended. And at least the housing part of the text book should be written by recommed the specialist of housing. Besides we also for the highschool girls to lessen their burden them to contribute improving housing life.

      • 운문사 女僧의 住生活 環境調査 : Focused on the Change of the Living Pattern and Lighting Conditions 起居樣式의 變化와 照明環境을 중심으로

        In this rapid changing period, the study about traditional life is necessary to preserve our culture. Un Moon Sa Buddist nuns' school was chosen for this study because that temple could be the last place to be affected by modern western culture. The purpose of this survey was to find out the change of traditional living pattern of Buddist nuns and lighting conditions of their school(Un Moon shool for Buddist nuns), and to compare it with last survey in 1985. The results of the survey were as follows. 1) Nuns' living area was enlarged as much as about 2.5 times since 1985 and leisure space too. 2) Students' living schedule was not changed so much since 1985, but the distance of moving trace was increased because of addition of working time. 3) Their private living pattern was almost sitting style on the floor as ever, but the public space such as ones for guests, leisure and kitchen were transferred to chair -using style. 4) The average rate of daylight of nuns' living space was 1.3% during day time and average illumination was 33 Lux during night time. So their lighting conditions was insufficient for reading books.

      • 우리나라 환경대책의 담당주체별 경향

        This study was performed to investigate the changes of the environmental counterpane in Korea. The subject groups discussed it to the trends of the environmental counterplan, the classification of the subject groups, and the content analysis of the environmental counterplan. The content analysis method was used to perform the study, and articles were a daily newspaper's topics related to the environmental counterplan. The adapted data were 488 articles related to the environmental counterplan at the Dong-A daily newspaper during 1920-1997. The results were shown: 1.The number of articles on the environmental counterplan has been increased since 1963. 2.The articles were categorized to five aspects: the government, the public, the enterprise, the education institute, and the international organization. 3.With respect to the environmental counterplan by the government, it has discussed the environmental law, the environmental policy, the investment about the technology (to develop the technique to keep the environment clean and to reduce environmental pollution), the environmental education, and the environmental movement. With respect to the environmental counterplan by the public, it has mentioned the environmental movement, the environmental education, the investigation to protect the environment, and the proposal to make and decide the environmental policy. With respect to the environmental counterplan by the enterprise, it has reviewed the investment about the technology, the proposal to make and decide the environmental policy, the environmental education, and the environmental movement. With respect to the environmental counterplan by the education institute, it has discussed the investigation to search the way (to keep the environment clean and protect the environment from the pollution), the proposal to decide the environmental policy, the environmental education and the environmental movement. With respect to the environmental counterplan by the international organization, it had mentioned the environmental education and the environmental movement.

      • 韓國·美國·日本의 老人住宅政策

        This study was to investigate the tendency of the elderly housing policy in Korea, America, and Japan. The content analysis method was used to achieve the purpose of this study with laws, books and articles related to welfare and housing policy. The result are followed : 1.The elderly housing policy of Korea was started at facility house for homeless elderly in 1960s and then three generation sharing houses have been built in 1980s. 2.The elderly housing policy of U.S.A. was started in 1950s and the housing with fulfillment of elderly needs was provided in 1960s. The elderly housing with housework service was introduced in 1960s, but the elderly housing for low-income was decresed in 1980s. Vauteur program helped meet the various needs of the elderly. 3.The elderly housing policy of Japan was started in 1960s, The pair housing that was near child's house was provided in 1970s and the financial support programs for the elderly was started. Care service was added in the elderly housing with the pursuit of the quantative improvement in the sharing houses in Japan. The elderly housing policy in Japan is under stable stage in 1990s.

      • 가사 노동 합리화에 관한 연구 : with special emphasis on electric appliances and measuring utensils 전기 기구 ·계량용품을 중심으로

        Household work necessarily accompanies home life. As a result of the increase in house wives employment, the household work becomes a big problem in most families. So, the purpose of this study is to examine household work with special emphasis on electric appliances and measuring utensils that can be a helping factor in household work. The approach of this study consists of a consultation of concerned references and on a questionnaire survey administered to housewives. The respondants are housewives whose standard of living is above average in Seoul. This is an analysis of the relationship between the contents of the questionnair, the degree of possession, the frequency of usage, and the storage place of electric appliances and measuring utensils and the environmental factors of the homes. The results of this study are as follows; (1) The degree of possession of electric appliances was one thing, and the frequency of us age was another. The most frequently possessed were electric irons, electric refrigerators, and electric washing machines, electric cloth dryers, and electric vaccum cleaners. (2) It is the size of the appliances that decide the storage place rather than the frequency of usage. (3) The higher economic level and the higher wives' educational background, the higher the degree of possession of electric appliances. But there is no particular factor affecting the frequency of usage. (4) In case of measuring utensils, even their costs are much lower than those of electric appliances, but the degree of possession is extreamly low. The frequency of usage is even lower than that of possession. Because of the lack of consciousness that electric appliances and measuring utensils are necessities of life, purchasing is done not with an eye foward usage, but because they have the money to buy what is viewed as desirable. Therefore, it might be helpful to educate and enlighten them about it.

      • 家政大學 中心으로 한 住居分野의 敎科課程 檢討

        This study aimed to examine the curriculum now in use for housing part and to present desirable education direction of that in college of Home Ecomics. The results and solutions were as follow: 1.In those colleges (or universities) have no department of Housing, dept. of Home Economies (in case of colleges) dept. of Household Administration (In case of college of Home Ecomics) and dept. of Home Education (in case of National universities or colleges) played a main role of housing part and it's relative importance was only 11~15%. 2.Most colleges (or universities) set up dwelling, housing design and interior design as Housing courses. In dept. of Home Economics, there was just basic subject (sketch and color), 3.In dept. of Housing, no problem was founded in curriculum, however, there will have to be a modified form under the consideration of characteristics of college of Home Economics and for making way after graduation. 4.In dept. of Household Administration, qualify the graduates for teachers or counsellors of family life. In other way, reinforce special parts with special study System. 5.A certificate of qualification of teacher in Housing part lave to be given to the graduates of dept. of Housing for strengthening of Housing education in middle and high schools.

      • 美國 西部都市家庭의 實態調査를 통해 본 家事勞動合理化에 관한 考察 : mainly a meal and cleaning 食事 및 淸掃作業을 中心으로

        With a rapid increase in housewives' employment, the problems on the rationality of the household works become serious in the every house. Therefore, this study aims at researching those of the present condition in America, where the housewives' employment has been popularized, in order to give a help to make direction in Korea. The methods of this study include questionaire and a actual survey of the present condition with special emphasis on the aspect of eating and housing habits. As a results, the rationality in American household works is caused by the use of electic utensil, the simplification of cooking process, and the cooperation of the family members. The details of the above mentioned results are summarized as follows; (1) Most of housewives dislike washing cooking utensil, washing dishes, and extra cleaning except floor cleaning, and ironing. (2) The eating habit in America is uniformized and simplified. American people use much more kinds of manufacturing food than Japanses and Koreans. (3) Most of Americans have American style sandwitches for lunch. (4) Most of housewives clean floor, and the frequency of floor cleaning is 1.8 a week. (5) In general house cleaning, in more than 70% of every home, all family members work together, and various tools are used in cleaning. (6) All the possess electic vaccum cleaner and 1.6 in average, and upright-style is most popular.
