Background and Objectives: Subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis or Kikuchi's disease has now become recognized in many parts of the world as a well-defined clinicopathologic entity. It typically affects cervical lymph nodes of young women, and subsides spontaneously within a few months without recurrences. The purpose of this study is to report the clinicopathologic finding, radiologic finding and many laboratory tests to elaborate the criteria that are useful in distinguishing this entity from inflammatory disease, granulomatous disease, lymphoma, malignant disease. Material and Methods: Authors evaluated 22 patients, who were diagnosed as subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis on excisional biopsy or fine needle aspiration cytology with retrospective chart review. Results: The patient population consisted of 21 women and 1 men. The mean age was 25 years old(range 17 to 42 years). All patient had palpable neck mass and associated fever, headache, weight loss, otalgia, diarrhea, night sweating. and associated disorder is dermatitis, hepatitis B, SLE, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, albinism et al. The multiple bilateral involvement of cervical lymph node was 20 cases(91%) and multiple unilateral 18 cases(82%), multiple bilateral 2 cases(9%). Solitary involvement was 2 cases(9%), mean size of involved lymph node was 2.0cm. In laboratory tests, leukopenia 17 cases(72%), elevated ESR 12 cases(54%), elevated GOT, GPT 3 cases(13%). In CT finding, lymph nodes enhanced in homogeneous fashion, and there was no evidence of central necrosis. Conclusion: Subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis, Kikuchi's disease may be easily confused clinically, pathologically, radiologically with malignant lymphoma, inflammatory disease, granulomatous disease. We should consider open biopsy of lymph node in the patient which had unilateral multiple cervical lymph node and in laboratory tests, were leukopenia, elevated ESR, especially in young women. otherwise, result of fine needle aspiration biopsy is nonspecific, excisional biopsy is recommended in order to differentiate other disease.

N/A y-Glutamyltransferase (GGT: E.C. 2.3.2.2.) is a glycoprotein enzyme which is involved in glutath- ione metabolism and amino acid transport through the plasma membrane. It is distributed widely in several organs including liver and kidney. Several isozymes of GGT have been reported and some of the isozymes may be associated with hepatocarcinogenesis. We have produced six monoclnal antibodies (mAbs) against GGT purified from the liver of 2-acetamidofluorene (AAF) treated rats. All of the six mAbs were obtained by immunizing mice with liver GGT. Six hybridomas which produced anti-GGT Abs were extensively subcloned and injected into the peritoneal cavity of BALB/c mice to obtain large quantities of Abs. These mAbs were purified from ascites by ammonium sulfate precipitation and protein A sepharose CL-4B column chromatography. Using these mAbs we proformed enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), radioimmvnoassay (RIA), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and autoradiography (ARG) to study the distribution of GGT isozyme in tissue. The results indicate that GGT-mAb 1 is specific for the AAF treated liver GGT, GGT-mAb 5 for the normal liver GGT, and GGT-mAb 6 for the normal kindey GGT. These mAbs may be used to evaluate the distribution of GGT isozymes in different tissues.

The authors' report a case of spinal intradural arteriovenous malformation: involving the cervicothoracic spinal cord. Chief complains of the patient who was 27 year-old office man were quadriparesis and girdle pain in both upper extremities. The malformation was diagnosed by pantopaque myelography and clipped under the operatiig microscope.
자발성 뇌지주막하 출혈환자의 말초혈액 및 뇌척수 내 호중구 Alkaline Phosphatase 활성에 대한 조직화학적 연구

There have been many studies on the neutrophil alkaline phosphatase (abbreviated as NAP) activity in the patients with various internal disease, and various enzymes and elecctrolytes in the patients with the disease of central nervous system including subarachnoid hemorrhage. It is rare that the NAP activity is the subject of study on the patients with spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage, so the author investigated the NAP activities of peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid, with naphthol AS-MX Phosphate method in 36 patients with spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage who were admitted to Dept. of Neurosurgery, Busan National University Hospital, from Jan. 1975 to Aug. 1975. The author obtained following results: 1. The NAP activity of peripheral blood in the patients with spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage was more active than in the normal individuals. 2. The NAP activity of peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid did not correlate with the neutrophilia in the patients with spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage. 3. In the patients with spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage the NAP activity of peripheral blood did not correlate with the NAP activity of cerebrospinal fluid. 4. Tee NAP activity of cerebrospinal fluid correlated with the consciousness. but the NAP activity of peripheral blood did not.
