This paper addresses a new MINLP model for determining the hatch size incorporating hatch sequences in multiproduct batch processes. The ZW scheduling model[10] is added to the design equation proposed by Birewar and Grossmann[1]. While they used the RO(Round Off) method to handle integer variable leading to an infeasible solution, we make the problem solvable by the BR(Binary Representation) of the integer variable and reformulate the Birewar`s model for comparison. The model was applied to the same examples illustrated by Birewar with SPC(Single Product Campaign) and MPC(Mutiple Product Campaign). The new model resulted in a new design and scheduling with a lower investment cost in much shorter computation time than the Birewar`s model.

A new PWM method for voltage source inverters is described. The switching instants determination of the proposed PWM scheme is simple. Therefore, hardware Implementation with a microprocessor system is easy and high frequency operation of an inverter can be obtained. The maximum line-to-line output voltage of a 3-phase inverter with the proposed scheme is larger than that of the SPWM inverter under a linear modulation region Principle of the proposed PWM method is described and harmonic characteristic analysis is carried out.

We developed a new solar simulator to evaluate a large-scale solar cell using seven kinds of LEDs (Infrared, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, White and Ultra Violet LED). LED solar simulator can be displaced the existing solar simulator which has several demerits such as high power consumption and short lifetime. We have tried to fabricate LED solar simulator which fulfills the spectrum for AM 1.5G condition, and to verify the feasibility of LED solar simulator.

This paper describes a current regulated PWM boost type rectifier based on modified trapezoidal PWM. Each switch of a converter has no switching for one third period of a fundamental line current. Therefore, the switching loss of the proposed scheme is less than that of the hysteresis current controller.<br/> Operating principle is described and slmulations and experiments are carried out.
