In this study, to improve the vibration characteristics of non-pneumatic tires, the mechanical characteristics of a honeycomb and straight spokes were compared and analyzed. It was proven that the amplitude of vibration can be reduced by inserting an insulator between the straight spoke and the wheel. By constructing finite element models for the honeycomb and straight spokes and performing a structural and the vibration analysis, the vertical stiffness and vibration characteristics of the straight spoke were confirmed to be better than those of the honeycomb spoke. A comparison of models before and after the insertion of the insulator into the straight spoke proved that the insulator does not affect the magnitude of the natural frequency; however, it reduces the amplitude of the vibration. 본 연구에서는 비공기압 타이어의 진동 특성을 개선하기 위하여 허니컴 스포크와 일자형 스포크의 기계적 특성을 비교 분석하였고, 일자형 스포크와 휠 사이에 절연체를 삽입함으로써 진동의 크기를 줄일 수 있음을 입증하였다. 허니컴 스포크와 일자형 스포크에 대한 유한요소 모델을 생성하여 구조 해석과 진동 해석을 수행함으로서 수직 강성 과 진동 특성이 일자형 스포크가 좋음을 확인하였다. 일자형 스포크에 절연체를 삽입하기 전/후 모델 비교를 통해 절연체 삽입이 고유 진동수의 크기에는 영향이 없으나, 진동의 크기(진폭)는 줄인다는 것을 증명하였다.
DEVELOPMENT OF A VALVE AND OPTIMIZATION OF A TUBE FOR SELF-INFLATING TIRE

Worldwide, the tire market requires safe and eco-friendly tires. In this study, a self-inflating tire (SIT) was studied and manufactured. Self-inflating tire refers to a technique for maintaining appropriate tire pressure. An internal regulator senses when tire inflation pressure has dropped below the set air pressure. The tire boosts air through the valve when rolling and compressed air enters into the tire. This procedure keeps the tire air pressure at an appropriate level and increases tire safety. In this study, a regulator was used as a negative-pressure system. A check valve was selected the minute flow check valve depending on the shape of the configured system. In addition, the material of the tube was developed with excellent physical properties and resistances (elastic rebound, working temperature, etc.) owing to its complete compression and restoration. A tube performance tester was developed and a computer aided engineering (CAE) model was modeled for comparison with the test results. Using the tester and model, it was possible to optimize the shape of the tube and regulator. Finally, the reliability of the study was verified through the prototype test. The developed equipment and systems can be used for the manufacture of high-performance and safe tires.
승용차용 비공기압 타이어의 안전성 확보를 위한 시험법 제안

This paper presents test methods in securing the safety standards of a non-pneumatic tire for a passenger car. Four test items that are applicable to non-pneumatic tires are derived by analyzing the characteristics of each detailed test item under the automobile tire safety verification test standard and the automobile wheel self-certification test standard conducted in Korea. A non-pneumatic tire was tested by using the derived test method, and the test results showed that the derived test method could verify the safety of a non-pneumatic tire. Based on these results, a collective standard was established by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers called, ‘Safety Performance Test Method for the Non-Pneumatic Tire Assembly of Passenger Cars’.
