Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disorder and the severity range from mild to severe form. The mortality of severe form of AP is still high despite of tremendous improvement of diagnostic modalities and therapeutic options. Although pathogenesis of AP is still not fully understood, autodigestion theory is regarded as an initial common pathophysiologic mechanism of AP for about 2 centuries. However, it is obscure which mechanisms are involving the disease severity. Upregulation of adhesion molecules, leukocytes, proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines are also concerned local injury, systemic exacerbation of inflammation and ultimately organ failure. In addition, transcription factor Nuclear factor-kappa B is also influence the severity through upregulate the proinflammatory genes. The patterns of acinar cell death are closely correlated with disease severity of AP. The degree of acinar cell apoptosis is reversed correlated whereas necrotic cell death is proportionate to severity.
대장직장암에서 Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase 의 발현

Background/Aims: The increase of Nitric Oxide (NO) generated via NO synthase (NOS) contributes to pathogenesis of various disorders including cancer. Increased expression of inducible NOS (iNOS) has been reported in various cancers. However, the expression of iNOS in colorectal caner remains controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate whether iNOS is overexpressed in colorectal cancer tissue compared with normal tissue. Methods: We investigated iNOS mRNA expression in 24 human colorectal cancer tissues and normal tissues by RT-PCR and Southern blot. We also examined the expression of iNOS protein in colorectal cancer tissue and normal tissue by immunohistochemistry. Results: RT-PCR and Southern blot showed that iNOS mRNA in colorectal caner tissue was significantly increased compared with that in normal colon tissue. Immunohistochemistry showed that iNOS protein was strongly expressed in colorectal caner tissue. Conclusions: iNOS mRNA and iNOS protein are overexpressed in human colorectal cancer tissue. These results suggest that overexpression of iNOS contributes to the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2001;38:247-253)

본 논문에서는 가상 패스 대역폭 제어의 일반적인 특징을 분석하고, 단일 트래픽 소스와 단일 전송 링크에 한정된 기존의 연구를 좀 더 현실적인 모델인 다중 전송 링크 상으로 확장한다. 그리고, 전체적인 가상 경로의 평균 QoS를 보장하기 위해 대역폭 제어에 우선권을 부여하고, 새로운 호 연결 요청에 신속한 대응을 위해 대역폭을 저장하는 대역폭 제어 방법을 제안한다. 또한, 이들 알고리즘을 전송 링크 상에 다중화되는 트래픽이 다중 클래스일 경우에 대해 적용하여 성능을 평가한다.

N/A Background/Aims: p53 mutation was reported in many studies, but conventional PCR-SSCP protocol using radiolabeled PCR primers or nucleotides to generate a radioactive PCR products is cumbersome to handle. With the aim of a rapid and safe method for single-strand conformation polymorphism(SSCP) analysis of PCR products, we used Mini-SSCP method to detect the mutation of p53 gene of gastric cancer. Methods: In 27 pair of gastric cancer and normal tissues, PCR-SSCP was done with Mini-SSCP, and then Silver sequencing was done. Results: The p53 gene mutation of gastric cancer was found in 10 of 27(37%). Mutation of exon 4, 5 were 2, 5 cases and tnutation of exon 6, 7 mutation were 0, 3 cases respectively. Mutation rate was similar with other reports. P53 mutation was not correlated with stage, lymph node involvement and histological differentiation. Conclusions: Mini-SSCP method, modification of Cold-SSCP, greately increased our accessibility to detect polymorphisms with easiness and safeness. So, it is a useful method to detect genetic mutation. (Korean J Gastroenterol 1997;29:601-609)
