        Role of risk-rescue rating scale and inflammatory biomarkers in determining the disposition of suicide attempters at the emergency department

        Objective: This study aimed to identify the utility of risk-rescue rating scale (RRRS), a psychological scale, and certain biomarkers in determining the disposition of patients visiting the emergency department (ED) after their suicide attempts. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who visited the ED after attempting suicide. The patients were classified into three groups for comparison: the discharged (DC) group, the general ward (GW) admission group, and the intensive care unit (ICU) admission group. Results: This study included 454 patients, with 344 patients in the DC group (75.8%), 63 patients in the GW admission group (13.9%), and 47 patients in the ICU admission group (10.3%). The three groups showed statistically significant differences in age, time of visit, physical status, presumptive diagnosis, the RRRS, mental status, C-reactive protein, neutrophil- lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and systemic immune inflammation index. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that predictors of the GW admission included the time of visit, mental status, and the RRRS. A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of RRRS for the decision to admit to GW and ICU showed a cut-off value of 36.5 and 44.5, respectively. However, no inflammatory biomarkers were identified as factors predicting GW and ICU admissions. Conclusion: The RRRS is useful in determining the disposition of patients who visited the ED after suicide attempts.

        The Information Communication Processing System is a gateway system to connect packet netowork of information service host and lots of user terminals connected to the public telephone network. In this paper, every management process except user interfacing processes is executed in a host computer system. User interface processes for monitoring and operating the system are automatically invoked and executed in a remote workstation for user friendly interface. As results, the quality of user interface was improved and the load of host system could be reduced.

      • Hough 변환을 이용한 문자인식

        This paper proposes a new feature extraction method which is effectively used in character recongition, and validates the effectiveness through various computational methods for similarity degree. To get feature vectors used in this method, Hough transform is applied to character image, which is used for edge extraction in image processing. By that transformation technique, strokes could be extracted and feature vectors could be constructed suitably. The characteristic of this method solves the difficulties in stroke extraction through transform space analysis, which is induced by noise and blurring, and represents high recognition rate of 99.3% within 10 candidates in relatively low dimension.

      • 실시간 멀티미디어 교육장비의 설계 및 구현

        컴퓨터를 이용한 컴퓨터 교육의 효율화를 기하기 위하여 동영상 및 음성이 포함된 멀티미디어를 실시간으로 전송하고 제어할 수 있는 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다. 설계된 시스템은 주제어기와 학생용 제어기 및 전송용 케이블과 터미네이터로 구성되어 있으며, 접속 방법은 주제어기와 학생용 제어기를 직렬로 접속할 수 있도록 설계함으로써 구조가 간단하고, 송신과 수신을 하나의 전송선로를 이용함으로써 케이블의 길이 및 굵기를 최소화하도록 설계하였다. 또한, 소프트웨어의 설치 없이 하드웨어만으로 동작되기 때문에 컴퓨터 기종과 운영체제에 영향을 받지 않고, 제어 및 유지관리가 용이하며, 1600 x 1200 픽셀의 해상도까지의 동영상과 음성이 실시간으로 전송될 수 있도록 구현하였다.

        의도적 음독후 응급실에 내원한 환자의 입원과 관련된 요인 분석

        Purpose: This study examined factors associated with the hospitalization of patients who visited the emergency department (ED) after deliberate self-poisoning. Methods: The medical records of the patients, who visited the ED at a tertiary teaching hospital after deliberate self-poisoning between March 2017 and December 2019, were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Fifty-seven in the hospitalization and 236 in the discharge group patients were included. The mean age in the hospitalization and discharge group was 48.8±20.4 and 41.8±19.1, respectively (p=0.020). Univariate analysis revealed statistically significant differences in age (p=0.020), mental status (p<0.001), request for help (p=0.046), chronic disease (p=0.036), substance ingested (p<0.001), and risk rescue-rating scale (p<0.001) between the two groups (hospitalization group and discharge group). In multiple logistic regression analysis for predicting the hospitalization of patients after deliberate self-poisoning, the Risk-Rescue Rating Scale (RRRS) was identified (OR=1.493, 95% confidential interval=1.330-1.675, p<0.001). Receiver operating characteristics analysis of RRRS for the decision to hospitalize showed a cut-off value of 38.9, with a sensitivity, specificity, and area under the curve of 96.4%, 77.0%, and 0.949, respectively. Conclusion: The RRRS can be used to determine the hospitalization for patients who visited the ED after deliberate self-poisoning. Nevertheless, multicenter prospective studies will be needed to determine the generalisability of these results.

      • 자소 인식 신경망을 이용한 한글 문자 인식에 관한 연구

        This paper describes the recognition of the printed Hanguel(Korean Character) using Neural Network. In this study, Neural network is used in only specific classification. Hanguel is classified globally by using template matching. Neural network is learned using the segmented grapheme. The grapheme of Hanguel is segmented using the structural method. Neural network is constructed, which is corresponded to the kind and the shape of graphemes. Each neural network is multi layer perceptron. The learning algorithm is the modified error back propagation using descending epsilon method. With five test character sets, the recognition rate of 94.95% is obtained.
