To identify the possibility of interlinking the railroads of two Koreas as well as the relevant technical advancement, it's necessary to compare the industrial standards associated with the railroad system, and on a long-run, the study on integration measures shall follow. The priority was given to the question on whether the parts or components as well as the freight car are technically compatible, that is, the connectivity of two different systems.

In line with the accelerating inter-Korean economic cooperation, the contact point between the South and the North will be extended accordingly, but given the separation in many aspects over last 6 decades, many difficulties in communicating with each other resulting from differentiated terminologies will be likely. The study hence was intended to compare and analyze the terms used by two Koreas in preparation for upcoming interconnection of the railroads and increasingly growing cargo volume, thereby better understanding the system and structure of the counterpart and resolving the language barrier between them, if any.

Online monitoring system is becoming an essential element of railway traction system for utilized to condition based malignance management and various techniques currently employed in railway traction system. Among the various techniques, it is efficient to detect partial discharge signals by electromagnetic wave detection in order to detect insulation fault of rectifier. Although VHF (Very High Frequency), UHF (Ultra High Frequency) sensors were adopted to detect partial discharge of power facilities, due to characteristics of urban railway, excessive noise occurs from 500 ㎒ to 1.5 ㎓ on UHF bandwidth. In this paper a new measurement system able to monitoring the conditions of power facilities on DC substation in metro was studied and set up. The system uses UHF sensors to measure the partial discharge of the rectifier due to electric faulting and dielectric breakdown. Comparison and estimation for performance of SHF sensor which had devised to detect partial discharge signal of urban railway rectifier has conducted. In order to estimate performance of SHF sensor, we have compared the sensor with existing UHF sensor on sensitivity upon frequency bandwidth generated by pulse generator, and also we have verified performance of the SHF sensor by detection results of partial discharge signal from urban railway rectifier.

한국철도는 1세기에 걸친 국영철도 체제에서 2005년 1월에 공공기업체인 한국철도공사로 전환되었다. 최근, 한국철도는 고속철도의 일부노선을 운영하는 회사로서 한국철도공사의 자회사 설립, 지방철도의 적자노선 분리와 민간사업자에 대한 철도개방이 검토되는 등 철도수송에 경쟁을 도입하는 정책을 강구하고 있다. 이러한 정책을 추진하는 과정에서 특히, 철도 네트워크의 단절과 향후 남북철도 및 대륙철도 연계의 비효율성 초래등 많은 문제점이 제기되고 있다. 철도경쟁체제의 도입을 검토함에 있어 수익성뿐만 아니라 철도의 사회적 가치의 측면을 고려한 종합적인 검토가 요구된다. 이러한 배경에서 본 논문에서는 최근 추진되고 있는 철도경쟁체제 도입의 현황과 향후 과제를 검토해 보고자 한다. Korean Railway was converted from the state-run railway system extended over 1 century to the korean Railway in 2005. Recently, Korean government is considering policy adopting competition in railway transportation, such as establishment of a subsidiary company of the Korail as a company operating a part line of KTX , separation of deficit line of local railway and railway transportation open for private operators. In the course of promoting these policies, especially, many other issues have been raised like the break of railway network and the break of railway network and causes of inefficiency in Trans-Korean & Transcontinental Railway. In reviewing the introduction of railway competition, comprehensive review is required for of the social value in railway. Therefore, this paper is to examine introduction trend of railway competition and future challenges.

궤간가변대차는 한국과 러시아의 물류 운송을 위하여 개발된 차량이다. 한국, 러시아, 유럽의 다른 철도 시스템에서 운영되어야 하므로 차량의 운영 신뢰성과 고장 점검의 판단은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서 궤간가변 대차의 축소형 모형을 제작하여 그 작동성을 기초 분석 하였으며 이를 근거로 궤간가변대차에서 발생할 수 있는 고장모드를 FTA기법으로 제시하였다. 축소 구동모형은 궤간가변대차의 모든 기능을 보여주고 실제 차량에서 발생할 수 있는 고장을 적은 비용으로 예측하게 해준다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 고장유형 분석의 결과는 궤간가변이 이루어지는 중요한 고장을 명시하고 있고 안전과 밀접한 관계를 가지는 기계적 고장의 유형을 기술하고 있다. 이 결과는 향후 궤간가변대차의 현장 운영 시 유지보수 기술로 활용될 예정이다. The variable gauge bogie System is designed to develop cargo system between Korea, Russia and European countries. It must be reliability functioned and predictable its operational system. In this paper, scale model of variable gauge bogie is built and analyzed operational failure mode based FTA(Failure Tree Analysis) method. Scale model of variable gauge bogie is make possible to predict failure patterns as well as functional problems with low research cost. The operational failure mode of variable gauge bogie is presented and defined to improve system maintenance reliability under railway maintenance guideline and design improvement.
