        Effects of the Vestibular Caloric Stimulation with Ice Water on the Autonomic Nervous System

        PURPOSE : The effect of the vestibular caloric stimulation with ice water on the autonomic nervous system was investigated using pulse oximetry. METHOD : Thirty-four healthy men and women were subject to a 2-minute vestibular caloric stimulation with ice water, and autonomic nervous activities (low frequency, high frequency, and total power) were measured before and after the vestibular caloric stimulation. Data were analyzed separately for men and women. RESULT : Low frequency, high frequency, and total power in the men and low frequency in the women were statistically significantly higher after vestibular caloric stimulation. High frequency and total power in the women were higher but not significantly different after vestibular caloric stimulation. CONCLUSION : Vestibular caloric stimulation with ice water increases autonomic nervous activities, with the variation being within the normal range. The test can be considered safe for use.

        둥근 어깨가 있는 대상자에게 골반 압박 벨트 적용을 동반한 어깨 안정화 운동의 수행이 어깨관절 주위 근육의 근활성도와 통증 및 기능에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of shoulder stabilization exercise accompanied by application of a pelvic compression belt on the muscle activity, pain and function of the muscles around the shoulder in subjects with round shoulders. Methods : For the study method, 28 students who were enrolled in K University with a distance of 1 ㎝ or more between the clavicle of the peak and the outer ear path were selected through GPS 400 global postural analysis system measurement. The subjects were randomly assigned to 14 participants in the group wearing a pelvic compression belt and 14 patients in the group not wearing a pelvic compression belt. In all subjects, the muscle activities of the middle trapezius, lower trapezius, and serratus anterior muscles and the shoulder pain disorder index (SPADI) were measured. The intervention was performed 3 times a week for 4 weeks, and the applied intervention was push-up plus and modified prone cobra exercise. The muscle activities of the middle trapezius, lower trapezius, and serratus anterior muscles and SPADI score were compared using dependent t test before and after intervention. Results : In this study, both groups showed that the muscle activity of the middle trapezius, lower trapezius, and serratus anterior significantly increased after the intervention compared to before the intervention. On the other hand, SPADI showed no significant difference. Conclusion : The results of this study showed that muscle activity in the peri-shoulder joint was increased after push-up plus and modified prone cobra exercise in both groups, regardless of whether pelvic compression was applied or not. Therefore, it was found that shoulder stabilization exercise using the pelvic compression belt also contributed to the enhancement of muscle activity in the joints around the shoulder.

        플랭크 운동, 사이드 플랭크 운동, 그리고 크런치 운동에 따른 배근육의 근활성도 비교

        Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in muscle activity of the rectus abdominis, internal oblique, and external oblique muscles according to abdominal muscle exercise methods such as plank exercise, side plank exercise, and crunch exercise. Methods : This study was conducted with 37 college students. All subjects participating in this study were randomly assigned to the plank exercise group, the side plank exercise group, and the crunch exercise group. The exercise corresponding to each group was performed for a total of 8 weeks. The muscle activity of the abdominal muscles was measured before the experiment, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks, and the rectus abdominis, internal oblique, and external oblique muscles were measured. Results : As a result of comparison according to the period in the change in muscle activity of the abdominal muscles after exercise, the amount of change in muscle activity in all three muscles showed a significant difference. As a result of the post-hoc analysis, the muscle activity value of the internal oblique muscle after 4 weeks in the plank exercise showed a significant difference from the value after 8 weeks. In the side plank exercise, the muscle activity values of the rectus abdominis and external oblique muscles before and after 4 weeks showed significant differences from those after 8 weeks. And in the crunch exercise, the muscle activity value of the rectus abdominis muscle before exercise showed a significant difference from the value after 8 weeks. Conclusion : Plank exercise increases the muscle activity of the rectus abdominis, side plank exercise increases the rectus abdominis and external oblique muscles, and crunch exercise increases the muscle activity of the rectus abdominis. Therefore, it is thought that the stability of the trunk can be improved more efficiently if all three exercises are performed.

        도구나 수기를 이용한 연부조직 가동술이 근활성도에 미치는 영향

        This study investigates the effects of instrument-assisted soft mobilization (IASTM) and manual myofascial release (MFR) on the muscle activity of the biceps brachii. This study was conducted on 10 men and women in their 20s, and all subjects participated in the experiment for 3 days and measured muscle activity of the upper forearm muscles. On the first day, the muscle activity value was measured before the intervention, and the remaining two days were measured for muscle activity after the intervention of each manual therapy in a random order. All muscle activity values were compared and analyzed through the dependent t test and the independent t test. The before and after comparison of muscle activity values before and after each intervention was verified by performing the dependent t test and comparing the values of muscle activity between groups between each intervention after intervention by performing an independent t test. According to the results of this study, both interventions significantly increased muscle activity of the biceps brachii before and after intervention, and there was no significant difference in muscle activity values between groups after intervention. Therefore, both manual therapy (IASTM, MFR) are thought to be effective in improving neuromuscular control ability. 본 연구는 도구를 이용한 연부조직 가동술(IASTM)과 도수 근막이완술(MFR)이 위팔두갈래근의 근활성도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 수행하였다. 본 연구는 20대 성인 남녀 10명을 대상으로 하였고, 모든 대상자는 3일 동안 실험에 참석하여 위팔갈래근의 근활성도를 측정하였다. 첫 날은 중재 전 근활성도 값을 측정하였고, 남은 이틀은 임의의 순서로 각각의 수기요법을 중재 후 근활성도를 측정하였다. 모든 근활성도 값은 대응t검정과 독립t검정을 통해 비교 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면 두 중재(IASTM, MFR) 모두 중재 전후로 유의하게 위팔두갈래근의 근활성도가 증가하였고, 중재 후 집단간 근활성도 값의 유의한 차이는 없었다. 두 수기요법(IASTM, MFR) 모두 신경근 조절 능력의 증진에 효과적임으로 사료된다.

        자세유지밴드가 스쿼트 운동 시 넙다리네갈래근의 근활성도와 체중분포에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the posture holding band on muscle activity of the rectus femoris, medial vastus, and vastus lateralis muscles and weight distribution during squat exercise. Methods : This study was conducted with 30 healthy adult men and women in their 20s, and all subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. Squat exercise was performed for 6 weeks. The experimental group received squat exercise while wearing a posture holding band, and the control group applied without wearing a posture holding band. Muscle activity of the quadriceps femoris (rectus femoris, vastus medialis, and vastus lateralis) and weight distribution (knee flexion 0 °, 30 °, 60 °, and 90 °) was measured. Results : According to the results of this study, all three muscles showed a main effect on time and group, and a significant interaction was shown only in the vastus lateralis. In addition, the value of the weight distribution difference according to the knee flexion angle did not show a main effect according to time and group at 30 ° of knee flexion, but showed an interaction. Conclusion : It was confirmed that the application of the posture holding band during squat exercise increased the muscle activity of the quadriceps muscle, and showed greater changes in the vastus lateralis muscle. In addition, it was confirmed that the difference in weight distribution was reduced in the knee flexion, and in particular, a greater change was shown in reducing the difference in weight distribution in the knee flexion of 30 °. Therefore, it is considered that the effect of the exercise can be further enhanced if the unnecessary movement of the trunk is controlled by using equipment such as a posture holding band during squat exercise.

        어깨관절의 벌림 위치에 따른 아래등세모근 운동이 둥근어깨와 아래등세모근의 근활성도에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of each lower trapezius muscle exercise performed according to the abduction position (Y type – shoulder joint abduction 145 °, T type – shoulder joint abduction 90 °, and MPC type – shoulder joint 45 ° abduction) of the shoulder joint on the muscle activity of the round shoulder and lower trapezius muscle. Methods : This study was conducted on 31 adult men and women. Through random assignment, they were assigned to the Y group, T group, and MPC group. A 4-week intervention was performed for each group of 31 subjects who participated in the experiment, and shoulder height and lower trapezius muscle activity were measured before and after the intervention. Shoulder height measurement is a test to measure rounded shoulder posture. When the value is low, it means that rounded shoulder posture is improved. The muscle activity of the lower trapezius muscle was measured using the %MVIC method, and when the value is high, it means that the lower trapezius muscle is active. All measured data were verified using dependent t-tests for before and after comparisons and one-way analysis of variance for comparisons between groups. Results : The results of this study showed a significant decrease after intervention only in shoulder height. Muscle activity of the lower trapezius muscle decreased after intervention, but did not show a significant difference. Both variables showed no significant differences between groups. Conclusion : The results of this study show that three lower trapezius muscle exercises were performed on subjects in rounded shoulder posture. All three groups showed a significant decrease in the shoulder height value, a method of measuring rounded shoulder posture, and no significant differences between groups could be confirmed. Therefore, all three exercises can be considered effective in reducing shoulder posture.

        도구를 이용한 연부조직 가동술 적용 시 진동의 유무가 근활성도에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to confirm the effect of vibration on muscle activity in IASTM. The subjects were 20 healthy adults. The intervention applied in this study was IASTM applied to the biceps brachii muscle. In the case of the experimental group, unlike the control group, the vibration function was turned on when IASTM was applied. The interventions for each group were applied, and the muscle activity of the biceps brachii muscle was measured before and after the intervention. All measured values were calculated as %MVIC values, dependent t test and independent t test were performed and analyzed for comparisons. As a result of this study, only in the control group, the muscle activity of the biceps brachii muscle after the intervention was significantly decreased compared to before the intervention. When vibration is applied together with IASTM, the relaxation effect is reduced, which is considered to be inappropriate for treatment. 본 연구는 도구를 이용한 연부조직 가동술 적용 시 진동의 유무가 근활성도에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 수행되었다. 대상자는 건강한 성인 20명이다. 본 연구의 적용된 중재는 위팔두갈래근에 적용된 연부조직 가동술이며, 실험군의 경우는 대조군과 달리 연부조직 가동술 적용 시 진동 기능을 켜 적용하였다. 모든 대상자는 각 집단에 해당하는 중재를 적용 받았으며, 중재 전과 후로 위팔두갈래근의 근활성도를 측정하였다. 측정된 모든 값은 %MVIC 값으로 계산되었고, 대응 t검정과 독립 t검정을 수행하여 이를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과 대조군에서만 중재 적용 후 위팔두갈래근의 근활성도가 중재 적용 전에 비해 유의하게 감소하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면, 도구를 이용한 연부조직 가동술 적용 시 진동이 함께 적용되면 이완 효과를 감소시켜 치료에 적절치 못한 것으로 사료 된다.

        물리치료 환경에 대한 근육뼈대계 및 신경계 환자의 환자만족도와 재활동기의 상관성

        Purpose : This study was conducted to investigate correlation between patient satisfaction and rehabilitation motivation in a physical therapy environment. Methods : This study conducted a survey on musculoskeletal and neurological patients receiving rehabilitation treatment at a hospital. The subjects of the study were patients who were currently receiving rehabilitation treatment, either hospitalized or outpatient. 234 people were collected. A questionnaire was consisted of a total of 55 questions, including 27 questions about motivation for rehabilitation, 14 questions about physical therapy service environment, and 14 questions about patient satisfaction and intention to revisit. The detailed items in rehabilitation motivation consisted of 8 questions about task-oriented motivation, 7 questions about change-oriented motivation, 4 questions about obligatory motivation, 4 questions about external motivation, and 4 questions about intrinsic motivation, and in the physical therapy service environment, 4 questions about facility service and therapist service. , 6 questions, 4 questions about services used, 3 questions about friendliness, 4 questions about professionalism, 3 questions about treatment satisfaction, and 2 questions each about repeat visit and recommendation. Results : Facility service (r=.21) was highly correlated for task-oriented motivation, therapist service (r=.22) for change-oriented motivation, therapist service (r=.31) for mandatory motivation, therapist service (r=.19) for external motivation, and facility service (r=.56) for internal motivation. Revisit for task-oriented motivation (r=.47) is kind to change-oriented motives (r=-.13) was highly correlated with kindness (r=.19) for mandatory motives, recommendation (r=.14) for external motives, and expertise (r=.52) for internal motives. There was a high correlation between professionalism (r=.61) for facility services and kindness (r=.53) for therapist services, and revisit (r=.40) for service use. Conclusion : According to the results of this study, it was found that there was a correlation between patient satisfaction and rehabilitation motivation in a physical therapy environment.

        호흡운동 중재방법이 COVID-19 생존자의 폐기능에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : People who have suffered from COVID-19 suffer from decreased pulmonary function and various side effects. This study aims to present three respiratory exercise intervention methods to improve pulmonary function in COVID-19 survivors. Therefore, the purpose of this study will investigate the effects of breathing exercise interventions (aerobic exercise, diaphragm breathe exercise, and inspiratory muscle training on resistance) on pulmonary function in COVID-19 survivors. Methods : The subjects who participated in this study were 35 male and female college students confirmed with COVID-19. All subjects were randomly assigned to A, D, and I groups according to breathing exercise intervention method. Groups A, D, and I each performed aerobic exercise, diaphragm breathing exercise, and inspiratory muscle training on resistance, 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Pulmonary function was measured using a spirometer, and FVC (forced vital capacity), FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in one second), FEV1/FVC % (forced expiratory volume in one second / forced vital capacity ratio), and PEF (peak expiratory flow) were measured at 0, 3, and 6 weeks. Data analysis was compared by repeated measures analysis of variance, and post hoc tests for time were compared and analyzed using paired t-tests. Results : In the results of this study, FVC values showed statistically significant improvement in all groups. FEV1 values also showed statistically significant improvement in all groups. And the FEV1/FVC % value also showed statistically significant improvement in all groups. And the PEF values also showed statistically significant improvement in all groups. Conclusion : The results of this study reported that aerobic exercise, diaphragm breathing exercise, and resistance inspiratory muscle training were all effective in improving pulmonary function in COVID-19 survivors. Therefore, application of the three breathing exercise intervention methods presented in this study will help improve pulmonary function in COVID-19 survivors.

        안뜰감각 자극운동이 성인여성의 안정성한계, 동적체중이동 및 팔다리 반응시간에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of vestibular sensory stimulation exercise on the limit of stability, dynamic weight shift, and upper and lower extremities reaction time in adult women. Methods : This study was conducted with 30 female. All subjects were randomly and equally assigned to an experimental group and a control group of 15 each. Subjects assigned to the experimental group received vestibular sensory stimulation training for 6 weeks. For the intervention, vestibular sensory stimulation exercises were conducted by referring to the Hamid exercise method and the Cawthorne-Cooksey exercise method, and the control group did not receive any intervention. All subjects were tested for limit of stability, dynamic weight shift, and upper and lower extremities reaction time before and after the intervention. Results : The results of this study showed significant differences between groups in reaction time, moving velocity, and directional control in the limit of stability test after intervention. In the dynamic weight shift test after intervention, there was a significant difference between the groups in the slow directional control of left and right. And in the upper and lower extremities reaction time test after intervention, both scores and reaction time showed significant differences between groups. Conclusion : As a result, the three vestibular sensory stimulation exercises applied in this study improved the limit of stability, dynamic weight shift, and upper and lower extremities reaction time.
