Many scholars and general public have regarded regionalism as one of the most dangerous disease in Korean politics. The research scope of regionalism were heavily concentrated to the filed of voting and political party. But this article suggested an alternative to the research for “regionalism,” whichreevaluated regionalism as an independent variable to affect political attitude and orientation. To investigate regional differences in political orientation, I researched political interests, political efficacy, preference of democracy, preference of stronggovernment, and conservatism. I found that there were statistically significant and substantially strong regional differences in political orientation of the respondents. When I controlled demographical variables such as gender, age, education, and income, I also found that regional differences were still statistically signifiant and substantially strong.

Does class matter for political behavior? Using ANES cumulative data from 1956 to 2000 for class voting and CPS data from 1972 to 2000 for voter-turnout, I reexamine the reality behind the myth of the death of class. I find that there has been significant and strong class bias in voter-turnout through 1972 to 2000. There is a linear relationship between class and voter-turnout. Furthermore, the higher class has been more likely to choose to vote for the Republican Party over abstention, whereas the lower class has been more likely to choose abstention over voting for the Republican Party. Class voting in the United States has reemerged since 1976, especially since 1984. Since the 1976 election, except for 1980, there has been a significant and strong linear relationship between class and voting choice. Rather, American class politics have been undergoing a process of realignment process by income criteria.

This study focuses on whether non-standard workers are matched by voluntary contract with employers in the labor market and analyzes the factors of involuntary choice of non-standard employees that are diverse by firm size. For the analysis I consider non-standard employees as either voluntary or involuntary according to the push/pull theory based on labor mobility. The Economic Activity Census Added Survey data 2016 show that the proportion of involuntary non-standard employees is greater than voluntary ones as the firm size is smaller. As a result of the analysis, involuntary non-standard employees are not significantly discriminated from voluntary non-standard employees in large firms. However, in small and medium-sized firms and micro small-sized firms, workers are more likely to be involuntarily non-standard if they are older or less educated. In addition, they are more likely to be employed involuntarily in micro small-sized firms than in small and medium-sized firms. Therefore, we should take into account the mismatching problems of compensation, specialty, and career in order to establish policies on non-standard workers. In addition to the financial support for small and medium-sized and micro small-sized firms, it is necessary to provide workers with job information that matches their job skills and career experiences.
