The present study was undertaken to investigate the ulcerogenic eKect of various fruits in rats. Various fruits incluciing peach, apple, apricot, plum and tomato were administerecl to Sha; rat. \Ve observed gastric v.lcerations ancl deterniinecl the gastric acidity, total protein, rnncoprotein and pepsin concentration of gastric juice Z4 hours after aclrninistration. I'he following results ivere obtained. The ulcer inciex. And volume of gastric group. Juice in friiit groups ivere higher than control The total and free acidity of gastric juice in frit groiips showed Jow valiies in comparision ivith control group. 3. The total protein and nnicoprotein of gastric juice in fruit groups were lower than contro} groups. 4. The pepsin activity of gastric juice in fruit grov.p were also lower than control group.

The present study was done to investigate the ulcerogenic effect of various relishes in 73 rats. Various relishes administered to Shay-rats were red pepper, onion, garlic, stone-leek, vinegar, mustard and ginger. We observeci gastric ulcerations 2-4 hours aft.er pyloric-ligation, a:id astric acidity, total protein, mucopotein and pepsin in gastric juice ivere measured. The results were summarized as foll oivs: 1, The ulcer incidence was highest in recl pepper and onion group, and the iilcr indices of red pepper, onion and garlic group ivere higher than that of control groi:p. 2. The influence of various relishes on gastric :rcid vinegar stimulateci the secretion of gastric acid. Secretion, all relishes studiecl except 3, The garlic, stone-leek and pepper group The total protein of gastric juice was revealed srrong stimulatory effect on pepsi:I secretion. High in group with stone-leek anct vinegar.

The measurements of sium amylase and urine amylase for 2-1 and 2 hrs were caried ou normal perso,-s, 118 pat;:enls vith disardei s in the upp r alimentary tract, 184 patie.,ts v, ith h;le- cystopathy and 26 patients ivith acute pancreatitis.
