      • High Strength and Radiation Resistant Metal Nanolayered Composite for Next Generation Reactors

        Nanolayered composites are known to exhibit ultra high strength and are able to control the strength by controlling the bi-layer spacings. In this study, we developed new material design of metal-graphene nanolayered composite. Graphene is a single-atomic-layer material with excellent mechanical properties, where the strength is reported to be 130 GPa with a modulus of 1TPa, which can enhance the overall strength of the new material. The Cu- and Ni-graphene nanolayered composite have been synthesized by graphene transfer methods with 2 to 5 alternating layers. The strength of the nanolayered composite was revealed by nanopillar compression testing and the results showed ultra-high strengths of 1.5 GPa for copper?raphene with 70-nm repeat layer spacing and 4.0 GPa for nickel?raphene with 100-nm repeat layer spacing. These ultra-high strengths indicate that the single atomic layer graphene effectively blocked dislocation propagation across the metal?raphene interface. Ex-situ and in-situ electron microscopy analyses and molecular dynamics simulations show high intrinsic mechanical strength of graphene provides an effective barrier against dislocation motion despite the fact that it is only a single atomic layer in thickness.

        사회적 약자를 위한 VPS 기반의 증강현실(AR) 내비게이션 UX 디자인 연구

        The increasing demand for convenient mobility among socially vulnerable groups, including the elderly, people with disabilities, children, and pregnant women underscores the necessity for advanced technology-driven navigation. This study is a user-centered primary research to develop AR navigation using VPS technology to provide accurate indoor and outdoor positioning information. Focusing on the densely populated Seoul City Hall area, major user types were identified through ethnography: socially vulnerable groups, daily visitors, and tourists. In-depth interview uncovered user pain points and derived UX elements for problem solving. Based on these insights, three persona and UX scenarios were created, scenario-based user flows and user interface designs were developed by comprehensive user journey mapping.

        고령층을 위한 패스트푸드점 AI 음성인식 키오스크 인터페이스의 사용성 비교 평가

        Background Nowadays, elderly faced difficulties in non-face-to-face payment system using kiosks due to their cognitive and psychological characteristics. We adopted a speech recognition technology that recognizes the user's voice and leads interactive communication into the kiosk and we explored the possibility of AI based speech recognition as an elderly-friendly solution. Methods We produced two prototypes which are typical interface of existing kiosks and new typed interface of AI based speech recognition kiosk. Through user observation for comparative evaluation of two kiosks, we found out the difference between the efficiency of use and the effectiveness of use. Also, we investigated the satisfaction of use through an in-depth interview and discussed future improvements of the AI based speech recognition kiosk. Results In terms of efficiency of use, the AI mode took less time to use than the typical mode, had fewer errors, and took longer to overcome mistakes. In terms of the effectiveness of use, the AI mode showed high recognition and understanding, but the initial success rate was lower than the general mode. In terms of user satisfaction, AI mode gave high frustration due to errors of pronunciation recognition and the volume of voice. Familiarity was low because of the burden of memorizing menus. On the other hand, the AI mode showed high favorability due to the AI character's step-by-step guide, and friendly explanation. ˛ Conclusion We identified the possibility of future AI based speech recognition and suggested improvements the usability and accessibility of the kiosk for the elderly. The comparative results will be applicable to the further development of research.

        블렌디드 러닝을 적용한 디자인 씽킹 수업 모형 설계 및 UX 평가: 초등 요트 디자인 수업을 중심으로

        Background. In the post-COVID-19 era, there is a need for efficient education methods using blended learning system to improve interaction between instructors and learners and the learner's satisfaction in elementary design education fields. Methods. Through the analysis of previous studies, the elementary design curriculum and blended learning cases were reviewed. We proposed a design thinking-based blended learning(DTBL) class model and appropriate learning environment and tools that operate the design thinking process. Through observation surveys, interviews, and expert evaluations, the user experiences were evaluated in terms of learners' responses, learning, behavior, and results in a DTBL class and a typical design class. Results. We derived the DTBL process in six steps and step-by-step activities for blended learning. As a result of the UX evaluation, in terms of response, more than 90% of participants were satisfied with the DTBL class than with the typical class, and the DTBL class was relatively high in favor of content support media. In terms of learning, the DTBL class showed somewhat high understanding and achievement, but in terms of behavior, the DTBL class indicated lower convenience and higher number of errors than the typical class. Idea expression was similar between the two classes, the DTBL class produced significantly higher results of idea innovation. Conclusion. The DTBL method enable learners to have opportunities as well as to control their own learning. It has positive effects such as realizing their creative thoughts in a psychologically stable environment and sufficient time.

        Design thinking과 CPS에 기반한 아동 창의교육 모형 연구

        The research aims to activate professional and creative education combined the desigh thinking process and CPS(Creative Problem Solving)process. There is a significance of improving the effectiveness of creative education and providing educational solutions in design thinking unlike the existing objectives of Design Thinking in business and social issues. Firstly, the process and attributes of Design Thinking and CPS was redefined via detailed theoretical investigation. Secondly, advantages of the two processes and complementary ideas were derived from analyzing similarities and differences between Design Thinking and CPS. It led to propose directions and strategies of a new integrated model for creative education. Thirdly, the process of integrated model divided into 5 stages : Empathy(E), Define(D), Ideation(I), Prototype(P), Test(T), which pass through 9 modules in order to accomplish the primary mission. As the final outcome, the attributes and detailed activities according to the each stage was analyzed through Delphi Technique by experts. The results of the study will be fundamental resources with the new concept of education model, which is a fusion form of Design Thinking and Creative Problem Solving. In addition, the integrated model and attributes will be based on innovative programs and curriculums with higher utilization and effectiveness in the field of education.

        A Product Design Process for Innovation based on Iterative Agile Prototyping

        This paper suggests new structure of product design process can present an innovation challenge when design teams are faced with the product development in IOT industry that contain electronics, software, and connectivity. In Phase 1, we derived rationales of iterative agile prototyping for innovation with outlining how it is applied to the design process through theoretical research. We defined the characteristics of agile methods as Iteration, Easy-approach, User-centered, Experimentation, Speed, Interactivity and Participation. The outstanding feature of agile prototyping is that rapid experiments and iterative evaluations through parallel agile prototyping start from the first stage of the procedure. In Phase 2, we suggested new product design process based on the concept of iteration and the characteristics of agile prototyping. This new design process applies iterative agile prototyping to each of these three stages: field prototyping, decision prototyping and idea prototyping. This process has cyclic connection and iterative flow through the parallel structure of each element. In Phase 3, we conducted in-depth interviews with design experts in aspects of field applicability, feasibility, expandability, problems and solutions. The results of these interviews were collected by quantitative and qualitative data to explore experts’ perspectives with appropriate guidance for creating innovative ideas. which immediately presents innovative design directions and solutions.

        융합제품 디자인을 위한 IAP 프로세스의 실행가이드 제안 및 평가

        Background This paper presents an implementation guide of IAP process (A Product Design Process based on Iterative Agile Prototyping) and is a study to judge appropriateness of the process in design practice fields. Methods Firstly, theoretical research by experts was conducted to explore the features and examples of service convergence products through theoretical research. Second, the guidance of service convergence product design, which is one of types of ICT convergence products, derived based on the three stage of IAP process. Delphi research by experts proceeded with 48 attribute cards according to three stage of IAP process. Results As a result. efficiency, simplicity and openness as attributes of filed prototyping stage for problem finding. Also, Efficiency, simplicity, accessibility were derived as attributes for the service. In the stage of decision prototyping stage for defining, attributes for co-operation, clarity and strategy Attributes for services were derived with compatibility, clarity, efficiency. From the third stage of idea prototyping for problem solving. innovation, productivity, scalability, ergonomics and durability, as attributes of the product. Conclusion To conduct an assessment of the suitability of this process guide, three design teams proceeded convergence product design projects. The researcher evaluated with criteria of efficiency, understanding, innovation, expandability, differentiation, and expressivity, which leads to refinement of the implementation guide.
