Generally, the prefabricated steel-framed buildings use beam-column frame system. The system which uses concrete filled square tubular columns exhibits a good structural behavior especially under lateral loading condition. Experimental studies were performed to develop proper details of concrete filled square tubular column to wide flange beam connections. Consequently, a beam-column connection sub-system are proposed for application to an prefabricated steel-framed building package. Principal results obtained from this study are as follows: 1) the frame system using concrete filled square tubular columns, compared to other frame systems, has some advantages such as reduction of steel-frame weight, space flexibility, etc. 2) one type of semi-rigid connection and two types of rigid connection are finally proposed for the connection sub-system considering connection stiffness and workability.

The residual stresses in hot-rolled, cold-formed and built-up H-sections, cold-formed and built-up sections are distributed in a unique manner because of different manufacturing process. While extensive researches for hot-rolled and built-up sections have been published, the residual stress in cold-formed sections has not been studied by many researchers. In this paper, the residual stresses in hot-rolled and built-up H-sections, cold-formed and built-up square hollow sections were investigated by the sectioning method and the analytical models of the residual stresses have been proposed for application to the nonlinear analysis of structural members. The effects of the residual stress on the inelastic buckling stress have been investigated using ABAQUS. It was found that the ultimate column strength considering measured residual stresses was decreased by 10%. Thus, the information of residual stresses must be presented to obtain a column strength curve that can form the basis for design.

Cold-formed steel structural members can be used very efficiently in many applications where conventional hot-rolled members prove uneconomic. However the cold-formed sections are usually thinner than hot-rolled sections and have modes of failure and deformation which are not commonly encountered in normal structural steel design. In this paper, an investigation for thin-walled sections undergoing local and distortional buckling is described and two design curves for effective width and maximum stress for columns are also proposed.
각형강관 기둥과 H-형강 보 접합부에 휨 거동에 관한 실험적 연구

It is normal practice to stiffen the End Plate Type connection for H-beam to S.H.S. column joint with diaphragm. The draw back of the diaphragm stiffened connection is that it need complicated work. Therefore, it becomes increasingly necessary to develop the End Plate Type connection without diaphragm in order to apply light weight building structures, This paper presents an experiments study for the End Plate Type connection for the H-beam to S.H.S. column joints. Two types of connection without diaphragm, (the one is the normal end plate connection and the other is the end plate connection stiffened with plug weld), have been tested to compare the characteristics of flexural behavior. The test results are compared with the results of numerical analysis by ABAQUS. As a result, the study show that, without the diaphram, the end plate connection could be properly stiffened by selecting the appropriate size of end plate and plug weld.
