The purpose of this study is measured surface acoustic wave(SAW) characteristics to confirm utilization possibility as SAW sensor using new Pb(Mg<SUB>1/3</SUB>Nb<SUB>2/3</SUB>) O3-PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) piezoelectric substrate. We have tried to see if the material can be practically available as a new surface acoustic wave (SAW) biosensor to detect protein. The experimental results clarified that the frequency filtering of the central frequency of the PMN-PT substrate is a superior result to that of the LiTaO3 (LT) substrate, but the result was not completely satisfactory. We know there is a problem in the design of inter-digital transducer (IDT) pattern. The waves transferred through the input terminal forms SAW which is sure to be transferred to the direction of the output terminal and the backward direction of the input terminal. This reflected wave is reiterated with SAW, which is transferred to the output direction, and so the frequency filtering gives a not good result. The electromechanical coupling coefficient of the PMN-PT substrate is excellent, and we can use it as a SAW sensor, in the near future, provided that there will be a new IDT design to increase the frequency filtering.

We studied the prototypal developments of Plastic Cortex Stimulator (PCS) for stroke patients. The PC sends the stimulation parameters (amplitude, pulse width, cycle, etc.) to the transmitter ZigBee module through serial port. The receiver ZigBee module generates stimulation waveform. The generated output can be controlled by the PC program. Further study can be expanded to portable handset such as PDA using ZigBee. The wireless control of PCS with the handset can help the tele-rehabilitation.

In this paper, we present the design of automated olfactory identification test system for mass screening, which is simple, rapid, accurate and low-cost. The automation is implemented by RFID (radio frequency identification) technology. The system consists of DI (user interface) system based on embedded computer, RFID reader system, odor samples and odor sample holder. A prototype is made according to the proposed design. The accuracy of the RFID reading is tested on the prototype. The feasibility is shown by olfactory threshold test and 16 odor identification test for 18 health subjects.
의식적인 손 운동을 통한 뇌기능 증진의 메커니즘에 관한 연구

본 연구는 집중력, 기억력 및 학습 능력의 뇌기능 증진을 위한 의식적인 손 운동에 관련된 연구이다. 우선 효과적인 재활을 위한 손가락 운동 패턴을 연구하였다. 단순한 손가락 운동(Simple Finger Movement ; SFM) 패턴과 의식적인 손가락 운동(Intentional Finger Movement ; IFM)패턴을 비교하였다. 다음으로 각각 두 패턴 운동을 시켜 피험자의 집중력과 학습 능력의 증진을 검증하고자 한다. SFM 패턴과 IFM 패턴의 비교와 집중력과 학습 능력의 증진의 검증은 뇌파(mid α파)를 이용하였다. 실험은 먼저 SFM 패턴의 운동을 시키고 다음에 IFM 패턴의 운동을 시키는 실험을 하였다. 결과적으로 IFM 패턴에서 mid α파의 증가가 이루어졌음을 측정함으로써, IFM 패턴이 뇌의 집중력과 학습 능력을 증진시킨다는 결과를 얻었다.

The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of muscular power by COP(center of pressure) training according to the angle variation of tilting bed. We changed the angles of tilting bed(up-down direction 0°, 15°, 30°, 45° and right-left direction -15°, 0°, +15°) for the correlation between angles and muscular power. And we measured EMG(electormyography) of lower limbs muscle(rectus femoris, biceps femoris, and gastrocnemius, tibialisa anterior) during COP training. COP training was divided by the COP trace training(in all direction) and sine wave trace training(vertical and horizontal direction). As the result, we obtained the improvement effect of COP training and we showed that electromyography(EMG) variations of lower limbs muscle on the angle variations of tilting bed were investigated.

본 논문은 가상환경 노출에 따른 가상멀미를 포함한 인체의 영향을 평가하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위해 20명의 피험자를 대상으로 하여 30분 동안의 가상현실 환경 노출 전과 노출 후에 나타나는 인체의 영향을 분석하였다. 실험평가를 위한 파라미터로는 550 test, COP, flicker test, 체온변화, 그리고 심박수 변화, 눈 깜빡임 값들이 이용되었다. 3D 입체영상의 제시는 LSG에 의해서 이루어졌으며, 특히 flicker test시에서는 모니터, LSG, HMD를 모두 사용하여 피로도를 측정, 비교하였다. 본 연구결과, 가상현실 환경의 노출 전 보다 노출 후에서 SSe Score, COP, 체온, 눈 깜빡임, 심박수가 증가함을 알 수 있다.

Ubiquitous healthcare (U-healthcare) system is one of potential applications of embedded system. Conventional U-healthcare systems are used in health monitoring or chronic disease care based on measuring and transmission of various vital signs. However, future U-healthcare system can be of benefit to more people such as stroke patients which have limited activity by providing them proper medical care as well as continuous monitoring. Recently, an electric brain stimulation treatments have been found to be a better way compared to conventional ones and many are interested in using the method toward the treatment of stroke. In this study, we proposed a remote medical treatment system using ZigBee-based wireless electric brain stimulator that can help them to get a treatment without visiting their doctors. The developed remote medical treatment system connects the doctors to the brain stimulator implanted in the patients via the internet and ZigBee communication built in the brain stimulator. Also, the system receive personal information of the connected patients and cumulate the total records of electric stimulation therapy in a database. Doctors can easily access the information for better treatment planning with the help of graphical visualization tools and management software. The developed remote medical treatment system can extend their coverage to outdoors being networked with hand-held devices through ZigBee.
